thank you so much I thought i had some sort of conflict I'm really glad you cleared that up for me.

@rattratthew The mod "Clothing and Armor" in Crunk's Vanilla Remastered collection (assuming this is the collection you're talking about) adds the stealth debuff to both sets of goggles. If you're comfortable digging around in FCS you could move the Clothing and Armor mod from your workshop folder to your kenshi mods folder and then edit "stealth mult" back to 1 for Ashlander Stormgoggles and Square Goggles.

for some reason they have a negative effect on stealth? I'm using crunks collection so may be something on that end but he generally curates quite well

@ERKEK2000 done, thanks for the suggestion!
ERKEK2000 2 Apr @ 12:40pm
This is a great tip! I think you should put it on mod description
mura  [author] 2 Apr @ 12:33pm
@ERKEK2000 Unfortunately I don't think there's anything I can do to fix this. The game doesn't seem to update character portraits when changing what is equipped in the belt slot. You can force the game to update the portrait by unequipping and re-equipping an item in a different armor slot though. If you have the goggles equipped in the belt slot when you do this they will show up in the portrait.
ERKEK2000 1 Apr @ 10:42am
does not apply to character portrait unfortunately

@ARS2000 thank you for the kind words!

Thank you for this, you have no idea how much it was bugging me that I can't wear goggles and other head accessories at the same time. You're a wizard.
mura  [author] 8 Mar @ 11:16pm
@acymetric you can only equip one item in the belt slot at a time, regardless of space
acymetric 8 Mar @ 10:45pm
Should I be able to equip these and a lantern (or other modded belt accessory) at the same time, or does the belt slot only allow one equipped item regardless of available space in the slot?

well done

@Optimushroom this mod will likely still prevent both races from equipping goggles in the belt slot because it adds a race exclusion for skeletons and soldier drones specifically to the Square Goggles and Ashlander Stormgoggles items. It does not check whether a race is allowed to equip head armor, instead it says "this item can not be worn by X race."

I've uploaded a patch that will allow all races to wear both sets of goggles in the belt slot here: Belt Slot Goggles - No Race Exclusion Patch
Optimushroom 19 Dec, 2024 @ 2:04pm
If I have a mod that allows Skeletons or Hive Soldier Drones to wear hats and head armor, would this mod still prevent them from equipping goggles in the belt slot, or is it dynamically checking each race for head armor compatibility?
mura  [author] 26 Nov, 2024 @ 6:06am
@MotaRin Yes this works with modded races.
MotaRin 26 Nov, 2024 @ 4:55am
Can this be used with other modded races? Like JRPG race
mura  [author] 25 Nov, 2024 @ 3:50pm
@Sanae Kochiyastein I checked "Wear your hats with everything" in FCS and it doesn't edit any of the values changed by this mod, so no issues there. It does essentially the same thing this mod does by adding belt slot versions of the vanilla goggles as a new, separate item (whereas my mod edits the vanilla goggles instead). With both mods installed, you'll have two versions of both Ashlander and Square goggles that are equipped in the belt slot. So, even though there aren't any direct compatibility issues between the two mods, if you are using "Wear your hats with everything" then I would recommend against using my mod just to avoid redundancy.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't come across any mods that sound like what you're describing in regards to nameless/bugged items, but I hope you're able to figure out what the issue is. Good luck!

Thank you very much for the answer! The mod I was talking about is this one: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1388161982

Even if there's issues, I might check it out when I have spare time to play Kenshi and see the stock of the vendors

And now I remember, I do have another mod which includes some gear for the belt slot and the head, but all of that gear is nameless and have like... buggy textures and models. The problem is that I don't really know which mod is, and I've been looking my subscribed items to find it, but I couldn't. I bet is not an specific mod for the headgear, it may be included with something which would the core mod, but I don't know and can't really see which one is. If you know about this issue of nameless gear please tell me, it would help me a lot
mura  [author] 25 Nov, 2024 @ 12:39am
@Sanae Kochiyastein I left the vendor lists for both sets of goggles untouched, so headgear shops (as well as any other shop that sells goggles) will still stock them at the same rate as in vanilla.

The only real incompatibility would be if another mod edits which slot either set of goggles are equipped in (slot 14/Attach_Head), in which case whichever mod is last/lower in your load order would just overwrite that specific value.

It's tough to guess what the issue could be without knowing what mods you're using, but if this other headgear mod adds a bunch of new items, the vendors could run out of space, effectively lowering the chance of having the goggles in stock at any given time. On the off chance that this is the problem, there are mods that increase shopkeeper inventory capacity which would fix the issue.

If you let me know what the name of this other mod is, I'd be happy to take a look at it to see if there's some unintended behavior between the two mods.
Санаэ Котия 24 Nov, 2024 @ 7:19pm
So, does headgear stores have chance to sell you the belt slot variant? I'm asking because with certain small headgear mod it's almost impossible to find goggles for the belt slot, and talking about that mod, I hope that installing this won't turn out to be incompatible with that mod
mura  [author] 23 Nov, 2024 @ 4:51pm
@Бондрюд It can be added to an existing save. If you run into issues with any npcs (such as plastic surgeon) not wearing goggles, importing the save will fix it.
