Manually downloading the model fixes the issue of it not showing up on the ep1_background map, for those unaware.

You'll need to use GCFScape to open up the workshop.dir in the steamapps/workshop/content/220/3368746213/. Then, make a folder in your steamapps/common/Half Life 2/episodic/ directory named "custom" Inside that custom folder, make another folder, name it whatever you want. Then extract all of the files from the workshop.dir to that new folder.

Due to the way the workshop works, the model does not load the background map when the game starts, but it works fine in the game.

I did ep2 with ep1 citadel sometime ago, I might revisit that idea later some day
