Manual mod installations work differently from Steam mod installation in that way.
It should definitely work with vanilla, as I use it when I play and I do not play M&T myself.

Seems that for some people the Steam release doesn't work but the dropbox link on the Paradox forums does. Tonight I plan on going through and making sure the Dropbox link is actually up to date and then I'll post it here for anyone who can't get the Steam version to work.
1. go to the file and change Music to music
2.go to music file and change aswmmmusic.asset to aswmmsongs.asset
I hope this works for you, it most likely will, since it worked for me. Make sure to fix this next time.
But this allows for integration with other music mods and the vanilla soundtrack, for those who wish to do so.
Sorry about the delay if any of the game's updates and expansions were causing problems :)
Confirmed working in M&T 2.0, just change the "supported_version" line in the .mod file to 1.21.xx
As for uploading an unzipped file, you are correct in that I cannot upload such a thing through Steam - however, I had a link to a Dropbox link that should serve as a workaround that I will be re-adding(tbh I don't know when it vanished....)
You probably can't upload an unzipped file, but I wanted to let you know that did the trick. It's weird, because I have other music mods that work when they're zipped, but this one only works when it's unzipped for me. Could this be a clue as to the source of the problem? I've made my own mods but I've never uploaded any of them so I don't know if you know things that I don't about the way the system works.
Locally, it functions in my game(even though the version is out of date), apart from the music player basically ditching my functions that made certain songs play during certain conditions.
I wish I could be more helpful but I'm stumped.
