"AI slop!" - because upscaling a pale, concrete image from a 2011 game is gonna take away jobs, send earth into the sun, kick your puppy, fuck your wife, and steal your soul.

I don't see any problem with AI up-scaling as long as you tell people it's AI usually, but here I legitimately don't know how this could be done without it. Seem like it goes without saying.

If even NVIDIA is providing RTX Remix for remastering textures and improving old games, why not use it here? the Source engine has hundreds of textures, if everything was made by hand and from scratch, it would be better to make the game from scratch.
