There are examples in the config for how to add classes that can use the crossbow in the Config/Base/XcomClassData.ini

This is the example for Shinobi -

[LWS_Shinobi X2SoldierClassTemplate]
+AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon, WeaponType="Zero_crossbow")

You can add specific classes by copy pasting this and changing LWS_Shinobi to whatever class you want.

As an addendum to that, the core abilities of the weapon "Slow Fire" and "Point Fire" are not configurable - they are set to be Turn Ending and Non Turn Ending respectively.

Slow fire costs 2 AP like a sniper rifle shot, and ends the turn when fired.
Point Fire costs 1AP and is non turn ending, but cannot crit.

Most bolt abilities are 1AP and Turn Ending, like a standard shot, but some are non-turn ending.

To really 'exploit' the crossbow, using it on characters with 'hit and run' or similar abilities that grant actions, refund actions, or free reload abilities will get around the basic restrictions of Slow-Fire and Point-Fire.

@red It's pretty tough to balance out the weapon as is, trying to keep it as a unique weapon type without crossing over into "OP" - but yeah everything is configurable in the config file and I tried to label it pretty clearly so you can adjust a lot of different values.

@u_luckpoint - a few, but its configurable. Recon, Shinobi, Reaper, mostly classes that value stealth and positioning

Hi. I wanted use this mod with Ghost Operative from Supersoldiers Restored. I added

to XComClassData.ini, and it worked well. My doubt is: if this mod get updated, will I have problems if launch the game and not remember to make this change again ? Tx

@lichen93 Thanks, and yeah you can slap this thing on any class by following the example in the config for xcomclassdata.ini

My 'defaults' are just classes that would thematically bother carrying it, but as people have mentioned, its a weak overall weapon with a limited action economy that requires a huge amount of financial investment to make it feel 'strong', so it's a style choice first.

@Icecream slime to make lwotc stuff to work you'd need some template editor magic to make the bolts and quiver project to be available
plus editing the values of the buildable items through wsr
infortunately after trying to do this with mod jam i gave up ever trying to do things like this ever again lmao

Not sure I will have enough time to fully complete another campaign (and adding these at around plasma rifles is definitely a bad call). But if I reach it and see any issues I will let you know.

It should actually work fine with the main lwotc mod. I’m sure I had something in there at some point that might have been experimental only, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. Might have been the collateral damage effect but that’s now part of an effect in this mod so it shouldn’t actually require experimental at all…

I do recommend experimental because its what I am familiar with, but yeah, should work fine with lwotc main branch. Let me know if you hit a snag

@icecreamslime I don’t know, it may work outside of lwotc but you might run into issues with things that should be expensive being free, and your need to add non lwotc classes to the class data config, not sure what else would need to be done, I haven’t looked at making non lwotc mods in a very long time

@kinsect I’m using the base model from the og vektor crossbow mod, but I used the available attachments to make it look different at each tier. Learning the 3D modeling software to edit the mesh is taking me a while.
