I was testing it solo to asses it for multiplayer use. I have no problem with it requiring human leadership in each squad - I just think it might benefit from a more extensive explanation of the tasks and roles. E.g. for the defenders - what are the threats, where are they coming from, and how imminent? Perhaps be more explicit in the description about the need for a human in control of each squad, and where the squads start. That sort of thing.

Are you playing this solo? It's meant to be a 16 player co-op.

I initially found the mission confusing. It isn't made clear that it is only the engineers who start off at the airbase and bring the supplies. The other squads actually start in Therisa defending it. I was expecting the Therisa defenders to be AI, but it seems they have to be at least human-lead or they have no idea what to do. Probably could do with some clearer explanation. I like the concept, though.
