@PrometheanExile i do, you dont even need the link for it as the name is "[B41] [B42] Camp in the Rain.
for some reason it protects the basement from rain, snow or being soaked so long as its nearby the immediate tent
PrometheanExile 8 Jul @ 8:21am
@chicken leg You wouldn't happen to have the link to that mod would you?
chicken leg 3 Jul @ 8:32am
ye it doesnt, the only way i've made it not be effected by snow OR rain is adding a mod that makes the areas on tents and around them the ability to not be rained on, so you dont wake up with puddles around you or wet.
it works great with this mod since it prevents basements from doing one of the most glaring issues with this mod which imo is a great fix ^^
albion  [author] 2 Jul @ 10:49am
it doesn't
Viren 2 Jul @ 10:11am
Regarding the Issue of digging out new basement areas being effected by Rain, if you build a structure above the effected area do we know if this fixes it? I will test it myself if not but will probably be a little bit before I get a room built lol
Dragongod2o0 1 Jul @ 10:43pm
@homicidalmanda its seems like you can avoid the nukes sickening effect but you are exposed to the affects of normal weather and wind chill
Lord Khaos 27 Jun @ 2:22pm
Thanks for your timely reply! I look forward to seeing this mod develop :3
albion  [author] 27 Jun @ 2:18pm
there is no cave in mechanic yet so you don't need to build supports, but it's intended that any kind of pillar or wall will provide support
there isn't a way to fill in basements currently, but you can just build floors/walls over the entrance(s)
Lord Khaos 27 Jun @ 1:50pm
Also, what would be considered supports? Walls? I don't see any support builds.
Lord Khaos 27 Jun @ 1:42pm
Quick question... Is it possible to fill in basements you dig out?
chicken leg 22 Jun @ 12:44pm
essentially, ive set up a tent in the basement in the middle of nowhere however i use a tent mod that prevents you from being rained on or rain settling infront of the tent.
maybe if theres a way to kind of "see" how the tent mod does this would it be possible to essentially use a similar system for the basements?
chicken leg 22 Jun @ 12:38pm
well, ive just found a way to avoid being rained on while inside a basement, not sure abt snow tho
chicken leg 21 Jun @ 5:25am
so if building a roof isnt an option, is there a way to jury-rig the game to not allow rain to enter the basement? even if it's still considered an outside area would it be possible to stop snow from falling or rain from getting you wet? idk, just a thought
homicidalmanda 19 Jun @ 1:07pm
Has anyone tested this mod with the nukes in Bandits: Week One? I'm curious to see what happens to these expanded basements if they are still considered to be "outside" by the game. Does that mean they will burn when the nukes drop despite them being technically underground? Or that it will be susceptible to the nuclear radiation that permeates the map after the nukes drop? Super curious to know, as this mod seems really useful in a situation where it's no longer safe to go to the surface.
albion  [author] 17 Jun @ 3:05am
you can sledgehammer the dirt stairs and then build any other stairs in the gap
building new walls over dirt is not currently possible but planned
PotatoMann 16 Jun @ 11:46pm
I just wanted to know (because I am currently building my base underground from scratch) if it is possible to replace the dirt stairs leading into the basement with normal wood stairs? I've built my base almost completely, and it seems that the only thing that is left is to replace the dirt stairs with normal wood ones, but I'm not sure how to do that. Also, to build your own walls, you have to dig one extra tile extra of what you want to build in order to be "allowed" to start building, which takes up way more time instead of just being able to build a wall frame in front of a dirt wall (if that makes sense). Is it possible to not have to deal with this issue? This mod is amazing, though, even with these two small issues!
chicken leg 16 Jun @ 4:23pm
instead of using this for basements, i use this mod for creating little stashes in the wilderness so i dont have to trek into urban areas to get some loot ive stashed :3 (since my zombie presets are horrific i dont want to interact with them AT ALL)
chicken leg 8 Jun @ 2:25pm
@MINGSAR
he just explained how that WOULDNT work dude, maybe look literally one comment under my old one?
Meyar 8 Jun @ 9:24am
Guys I love you all, I had the exact same question, but the author has answered the roof question like 15 times at this point, lol
MINGSAR 8 Jun @ 7:29am
There was a mod called EasyRoof in the B41 version. If such a mod comes for B42, can we technically build roofs in these basements?
chicken leg 6 Jun @ 12:26pm
i have no idea how modding works but i think it works like the game doesnt recognise y -1 (basement level) unless theres a pre-built basement there, so it treats it like outdoors so a roof is essentially impossible
albion  [author] 6 Jun @ 11:52am
that's not how it works, there is already a roof (the ground), the game just doesn't care if there is a roof or not when you're underground
Dester 6 Jun @ 11:45am
What about adding some building roof options as a workaround so underground areas can prevent the rain? X number of materials which builds the roof... and it could be invisible or a single very thin pillar.
Will wooden boxes inside the basement deteriorate over time? Thanks for the mod, very good.
Axvll 2 Jun @ 9:14pm
So Ive been looking through the comments but havent seen a definitive fix for this. Its no real BUG I suppose. But when I tried digging through a few walls, the dirt corners still remain. I cant delete/dig them, nor can I build another corner over them. I tried building over it, and only the dirt pillar/corner shows even if the pillar/corner I built it MUCH thicker than the dirt one.
Goose 29 May @ 4:21pm
alright, i understand.
thank you for quick responses.
albion  [author] 29 May @ 4:11pm
unless changes are made to the game engine, it seems impossible. i continue to look into it periodically but i'm more or less 100% sure it's impossible at this point
Goose 29 May @ 3:52pm
ah, okay, thanks anyway.
Is there any work-around that you can put together? or is it always going to be a hard game limitation?
albion  [author] 29 May @ 3:10pm
no
Goose 29 May @ 3:06pm
Can underground areas be considered "indoors" if i build a floor and walls in the hole?
chicken leg 25 May @ 8:57am
just checked and i can keep chickens down there-
stalksetcup 25 May @ 5:46am
The water is definitely collecting
albion  [author] 25 May @ 5:43am
you can collect water and probably keep animals (i'm not sure 100% on how those mechanics work), and you can plant as long as you have the option enabled to allow farming on different levels
dezerter 25 May @ 5:42am
If this basement are not considered indoors, then I can grow plants, collect water and keep animals normally in them?
stalksetcup 25 May @ 5:21am
Honestly... I use this mod for two things
1. Dirt mining - some mods allow you to get clay from the ground, so this allows you to create a quarry :) I wish I could get some resources other than dirt....
2. Creating a warehouse, maybe I'll be able to make an underground parking lot... but that's later
chicken leg 24 May @ 3:08pm
but I don’t wanna dig a hole :c
I wanna dig a basement ;w;
Lukewarm Moth 24 May @ 2:09pm
It allows you to make your own tomb to die in after becoming infected.
albion  [author] 24 May @ 8:16am
you get to a dig a hole
chicken leg 24 May @ 8:10am
i dont really see the point of using this mod if it doesnt even give you a roof.
its more like a very large pit
Lukewarm Moth 23 May @ 8:50am
This mod is a pretty fun companion piece for Slayer's One Week, shame that the player made basements are considered to be outdoors as the post nuke stage makes everything cold for 3 months but is still manageable. But yeah, I hope TIS creates an update which makes it easier for modders to code new basement rooms as indoors, or just label floor -1 as being indoors in general.
Samurai 17 May @ 6:16am
Alright, thanks.

I'm probably not alone in saying the community would greatly benefit from a write-up/steam guide of some kind on how the region manager and basements interact, and how that change could be implemented manually. If you have any specifics on that i'd def give it a read. Mod speed seems to always surpass the development of this game
albion  [author] 17 May @ 6:00am
it's not possible, the region manager doesn't run underground so rooms will never form there. vanilla basements can create rooms directly but mods don't have the ability to do this
Samurai 17 May @ 5:57am
Seems like all we would have to do is apply the same parameters on the player constructed basement that are applied on the auto generated basements, no?

If the vanilla generation does it, there has to be a way to update the map afterwards too.

I play on cryogenic winter, so I actually cant use this mod without a roof
albion  [author] 17 May @ 4:46am
don't waste your time doing stuff like that, it straight up isn't possible in the current engine, the game will NEVER consider an underground area indoors or covered from rain, it's not an oversight in the mod it is literally impossible
Samurai 17 May @ 4:44am
Just spent an hour fucking around in debug mode on B42 trying to add a roof. No luck.

Mod is pretty much worthless without a fix
Samurai 17 May @ 3:41am
@Makmorn Could you please elaborate on how you found the 'connectors' in debug mode? The IsoRegions tool doesn't work below z level 0
survivaler049 11 May @ 10:21am
backrooms :orccaptain:
albion  [author] 9 May @ 11:57am
it's not added yet, it's under 'future features'
saudade 9 May @ 11:33am
How do you even "build new walls on top of dirt walls"? It's redded out for me whenever I try building any
Fylas 1 May @ 12:48pm
