seconded, this mod is so useful in many aspects, not just for corpse disposal but because how hard it is to get bones in vanilla :bleach:
ShadedHunter 11 Jul @ 7:57am
Don't apologize. Between not having to "waste" time, ground, or fuel to dispose of corpses, leveling the butchering skill without having to risk losing food practicing on critters, and gaining the bones necessary for weapons, armor, and practicing the carving and tailoring skills this is without a doubt one of the most useful mods I've ever come across. Quite possibly *the* most useful. You seem intent on keeping it active and up to date. I am more than happy to wait a couple days for encroaching issues to get resolved.

Sorry. Fixed
ShadedHunter 10 Jul @ 10:48am
Same issue. Tried with a kitchen knife and fillet knife.
Max Payne 9 Jul @ 2:10am
And I'm running a new save
Max Payne 9 Jul @ 2:10am
Same issue as tokenpdx described. I thought it was the Bandits mod that didn't let me butcher bandit corpses but apparently it's just the bug of this mod. Would be great to see it fixed, bc it's such a good mod.
tokenpdx 8 Jul @ 3:31pm
I have a hunting knife in my hand, the option is there to "Harvest Bones" but when I click, nothing happens - and I get errors now when killing zombies.

I've added it to a old save for testing, Does this mod require a new save?
Shiro 7 Jul @ 12:03pm
Thanks for updating, what was changed in this patch?
Max Payne 7 Jul @ 8:30am
Thanks a bunch!!!
whatahell  [author] 7 Jul @ 7:08am
Done
Max Payne 7 Jul @ 6:49am
@ehn could you add more knives that could be used for butchering corpses? I like your mod very much but I feel like more knives could be used for butchering.
whatahell  [author] 6 Jul @ 11:45pm
Updated guys.
I left laziness aside
Shiro 30 Jun @ 7:06pm
I am very confused why the First Aid skill is used instead of the Butchering skill, your mod entirely revolves around us butchering humans, so it should rely solely on butchering in my opinion. Once again, thank you for this useful mod.
Arxen 10 Apr @ 6:55am
Please update mod, seems last game patch brake the mod!
Ivan 5 Apr @ 3:56pm
I like this mod a lot but can you please make it so corpses dont dissappear once youve harvested them because it really makes corpse disposal way too easy
ShadedHunter 8 Mar @ 8:36pm
Sort of works. I've used it on a few corpses and had results saying I've recovered rib cages and human skulls, but neither shows up on the ground or in my inventory.
Gio 1 Mar @ 8:33am
not working
Flexible Games 24 Feb @ 4:14pm
Can you mention what you can do with the bones? What recipes use them?
ManaWei 21 Feb @ 11:06pm
who doesn't like a good zombie stew..?
ManaWei 21 Feb @ 11:06pm
Ever seen the Exotic meats mod ? this reminds me of it.. just without the zombie meat lol
korewednesday 18 Feb @ 10:16am
!!! aww yissss thank you
framethrower 18 Feb @ 8:32am
@whatahell  Pleasure to be of help, I really like your mod :steamhappy:
whatahell  [author] 18 Feb @ 6:59am
Updated.
Thanks @framethrower
hoshie 18 Feb @ 6:41am
Sad, i liked it. Unsubbed and Thumbs down.
framethrower 18 Feb @ 1:36am
I fixed by myself editing the file "clientCement.lua", located in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\3399292171\mods\BoneScavenger\common\media\lua\client"

There is a change in the HaloTextHelper.addText since last patch, and have to add a new string. If you want to fix it can edit the file, look for any HaloTextHelper.addText, and add a new string , " ":

Example:
- HaloTextHelper.addText(self.character, "Knife damaged!", " ", HaloTextHelper.getColorRed())

-HaloTextHelper.addText(self.character, " + " .. totalBones .. " bones", " ", HaloTextHelper.getColorGreen())

- HaloTextHelper.addText(self.character, boneName .. ": " .. count, " ", HaloTextHelper.getColorWhite())

-HaloTextHelper.addText(self.character, "No bones found", " ", HaloTextHelper.getColorRed())

That fix it for me. Also I changed a few more things, like the % of bones and added more different bones parts.
PS. I'm not a modder or programmer, so maybe is a better way to do it.
korewednesday 17 Feb @ 5:30pm
Yeah, I'm also getting an assortment of errors with it since the update. Very excited for a fix; I can't come up with a reason to put that isn't absolutely unhinged, but looking forward to one
SempeR 14 Feb @ 2:15am
not work in 42.3
Newbie_99.9 12 Feb @ 2:31pm
Zombie corpses don't disappear after 42.3 update. So the harvest becomes infinite.
LumberingTroll 25 Jan @ 4:30pm
@whatahel would it be possible to mark a corpse as harvested, and then change its texture to a meat / flayed state, and leave the bodies? Basically add a bool state to a corpse after harvesting and if it has the state dont allow it to be harvested again.

I find it a little bit of a cheat that we can use this as a simple way to get rid of corpses with just a little bit of knife durability. Even as an optional setting I would greatly appreciate it.
taxseasonisover 25 Jan @ 10:40am
not working for me either
abreuocaio 16 Jan @ 4:37pm
Its not working for me, idk why
creampill 14 Jan @ 3:35am
@whatahell thank you! great update, much more balanced.
LumberingTroll 14 Jan @ 12:08am
@whatahell awesome update, much appreciated!
whatahell  [author] 13 Jan @ 4:51pm
Updated: No insta break
Less durability drain
Added Stone Knife and Bone Knife
LumberingTroll 12 Jan @ 9:33am
The small hand sickle / grass hook seems to cause an error with this, otherwise great mod!

And agreed, break chance is rather annoying, not sure why it needs a chance to outright break a knife, just have it deal damage to the knives condition like everything else.

also +1 for tying it's effectiveness to the Butchering skill, just makes sense.
creampill 11 Jan @ 2:36am
The mod only seems to accept crude knives, while stone knives don't work. They are essentially the same item with different recipes, so I think changing it so both work would fit :)
Shiro 6 Jan @ 5:42pm
Break chance seems to be way too high, and full condition knives break in a single failed used.
Internaut 4 Jan @ 8:01am
can you make zombies be able to be placed on the hooks?
tilarium 4 Jan @ 12:30am
Well, they did, a lot of them, in B42. Hence why this mod is needed. Bones are a useful crafting material but are hard to come by because you have to hunt and harvest from animals.
바보헌터 3 Jan @ 11:47pm
The mode is fun. I hope they add crafts that can be made with bones.
La__fonzi 3 Jan @ 8:21pm
im assuming i have a conflict with another mod or maybe my skill lvl is to small i dont know but my knife break on single use from full health of the blade and i get no bones then error messages
MissZombieFAIL 3 Jan @ 4:15pm
Agreed. This is 100% Butchering skill.
Either way, I am very excited to try it out. Thanks for your time and effort to make it! <3
Milknight 3 Jan @ 3:12pm
This 100% should be tied to butchering
Deon ☣ 3 Jan @ 10:38am
I would consider this be relevant to Cooking but... :D
SaltCane 3 Jan @ 9:33am
Okay, changing it to knapping is worse than first aid. I don't know what the first commenter is thinking but in what world does butchering or removing deep body parts from a corpse require the skills of shaping stone tools???

It should rely on both first aid and butchering at the same time if possible, as both these skills would both be helpful when it comes to extracting bones from human corpses.
Icarus 3 Jan @ 6:10am
Why not tie it to Butchering? Making things from bones is Knapping, but harvesting bones from animals uses the Butchering skill.
hoshie 2 Jan @ 9:32pm
Thanks for the mod. Haven't tested yet. The description still mentions First Aid instead of Knapping FYI. :brownchicken:
whatahell  [author] 2 Jan @ 9:12pm
Changed to Knapping :)
kevinltaylorj 2 Jan @ 9:02pm
great I idea but aren't bones related to knapping? having it tied to first aid is a bit strange.
