The recent patch fixed it.

Is this missing the sound effects in game like the drawing noise and voicelines? I was hoping those would be in-game like they are in the videos.
Hypo  [author] 25 Jul @ 11:23am
There's a large outcry for vanilla style "taunt" taunts that actually taunt players and can be used quickly in game, and that's exactly why I made it. There's value in having a low-risk insulting taunt so you can taunt in the killcam and get back into the game, because that's what the vanilla taunts are made for. If you look at other comments, it's clear that plenty disagree with the idea that this is a "filler" taunt.
Extremely disappointing that another filler-taunt that isn't even good, is being added.

The taunt would be so much cooler if the numbers were randomized. Or better yet, if the taunt had a secondary taunt option like some taunts do. main taunt is them writing on the paper, standing there. It loops.
Second part is them showing it. and if you press a number during first part, it activates secondary, with them displaying that number.

Instead, its just a filler-taunt that is basic asf and surely was just added to the workshop in hopes of getting a free in-game unusual on the maker's account.
I'm The One Who Quacks 24 Jul @ 4:53pm
At least this one is a taunt, unlike the others

1 out of 4.

Things are looking grim.
Magister Viridi 24 Jul @ 4:00pm
Not bad at all.
Zoom, Tilt and PAN 7 Jun @ 2:28pm
This is great! A TAUNT taunt.

I agree with the suggestion to introduce some variations to this as @Can-Tank! has suggested ... BUT... keep it in moderation. No dumb baloonicorns - an X is infinitely better.
Soldier suffers from PTSD and is erratic so his drawing could be very rough - spikey even (esp. if you use an X for that). Neglect the comic fanfiction though.

Overall I'd be glad to have this in game and I'd actually use it.
Can-Tank! (erous) Goblin 24 May @ 5:16am
This is a bit too broad of an idea to fit everyone all that well, it probably should have come with some unique class versions*. Spy, Heavy, and Sniper don't feel like they'd do this at all. Pyro, Soldier, and Demoman should probably have unique drawings instead of following the score. Some aspects of personalization should probably be utilized to make it fit better such as changing the thing they write on, how it looks, or how they write. Each characters reactions while doing these taunts are perfectly in character though, even if I don't feel some of them would do this.

For suggestions:
Pyro is barely mentally aware of his surroundings so the perfect 0 feels really off, maybe a ballonicorn or X? Also maybe he should burn his score?
Soldier is really dumb, maybe a crude drawing, wrong number, or a horribly drawn 0.
Demoman should definitely have messier, scribbled lines or an unfinished zero.

As missed potential, someone should have ripped their score in half, probably Heavy.
Ink 8 May @ 6:26am
Spy's is holding it up like the library girls from Rhythem Heaven lol
Apolitical Butter 25 Mar @ 6:59pm
I feel like there should be a "Pyrovision" version where instead of 0 and a negative reaction, it's a "10" and a positive reaction
▢ LANNERS 11 Mar @ 11:01am
Engi feels a little weak, but this fits right in with the older taunts
.Maeoh. 8 Mar @ 3:50pm
I rarely check worskshop these days, but its genuinely refreshing to see someone have the mercs in their exaggerated personalities with little excess flub. wonderful work
Grease 28 Feb @ 3:07pm
Good taunt! The mercs act like their character, the movement isn't over the top and looks like this would be fun to just use in general whenever an oddity happens in-game. :good:
Archimedes 20 Feb @ 11:59am
I like it. Its a taunt
Zumo Nacho INC 18 Feb @ 2:04am
eh, not my cup of tea tbh, but its well done
Dprogamer 17 Feb @ 11:24am
Its a shame theres an actual good taunt somewhere that wont get added because this one took its spot
The Pootis'd Berd 17 Feb @ 7:49am
painko's brain is molding.
Weaver 14 Feb @ 6:07am
then i guess your point made no sense to you or me.
PainkoBreadCrumbs 13 Feb @ 8:50pm
you missed my point man but whatever.
Weaver 12 Feb @ 12:24pm
idk painko, the scoreboards make this much more fun and interesting. thumbs down has been done already. and why are you trying to attach any realism to this. magical taunt props have been in motion since the shred alert, so valve sure doesn't share this view, and neither do most other players, because they loved love and war, and continue to use these kinds of taunts all the time.
TLDR, sounds like a you problem.
PainkoBreadCrumbs 11 Feb @ 8:37am
@Hypo, I'm aware of that, like I said, Could have done a lot better doing just a simple thumbs down animation, simple, tells the joke as is, saying that the player sucks, unlike others where you have soldier pull out an entire trash can. It's less about how the taunt was meant to do. Just the main issue of the mercs pulling random big objects out of thin are makes no sense despite what others say. random objects appearing out of nowhere feels lazy or overused.

I see what you're doing and what the taunt is trying to do, don't know how times I gotta repeat that. it's not about visibility, it’s about how the mercs interact with their world. The game leans into exaggerated action, not formal judging panels, so this kind of prop feels out of place. Have the mercs gesture a 0, A thumbs down at that point. tells the story (not literally but you get the idea.) Although I say this nicely, Hope it doesn't get added it.
PainkoBreadCrumbs 11 Feb @ 8:25am
@YerasAllTheSame Counter Argument, if you apply that to the other source games, then that wouldn't make make sense either. Also it's a game design, not something that is shown for 5 seconds for standing still.
Hypo  [author] 10 Feb @ 10:47pm
@Painko you're suggesting that this be an entirely different taunt. This taunt is based off of judges' score cards, usually used in acrobatics or talent shows. So making it a thumbs down taunt not only would be a lot less visible during gameplay, it would also lose the context that makes it unique.

If you can name some taunts that have props that hide/unhide in a way that you like I'd like to hear it! Visibility and in-game responsiveness are the most important aspects of a taunt. No one using this taunt would care about how the character gets out the card, all that matters is the person they killed sees the "0" in time for the killcam, and that they can get back to playing as soon as possible. There's no point in wasting an extra second or so to explain how the prop spawns in.
YearsAllTheSame 10 Feb @ 10:44pm
we reaching the levels of realism where a piece of paper is actually "too cartoony" for tf2
also don't pretend like you'd have been fine with a thumbs down taunt, bet if there was one there'd complaining about it being "another emote, not a taunt etc etc"
Hex:Money & Power 10 Feb @ 9:30pm
@Painko, Ahh yes. So where exactly does Heavy store his primary weapon when he switches weapons? Because I'm pretty sure every class pulls their weapon's out of thin air,why should it be different for something as taunts?
PainkoBreadCrumbs 10 Feb @ 8:12pm
@Hype, gotta spell it out? fine... The mercs shouldn't pull random objects out thin air, ik its cartoony and silly, but overall come have been done a lot better, a simple thumbs down taunt would have been a lot cleaner, direct and not something that has the merc pulling out a sign with a "0" Like I said, thumbs down taunt would have done the job better, ironically the number speaks for the (Emote) itself.
WorldPeace 9 Feb @ 5:46am
Ok but but will you make an alternative version where they can show a 10?
(Unless someone else else has made one already....)
Intolerable lactose 7 Feb @ 10:45pm
It's perfect!
Hypo  [author] 7 Feb @ 10:02am
@Painko Can you elaborate, what's your reasoning?
PainkoBreadCrumbs 5 Feb @ 9:24pm
No.
Hex:Money & Power 5 Feb @ 2:08pm
The taunt is nice but why not use orange color for the pen instead of red and blue for each team?
Basinox 5 Feb @ 7:10am
This taunt is great, but I would love for them all to have more personalised zero's. Like engineer having a slashed zero to distinguish it from an O and demo's being al scratchy because he is too drunk to draw a clean oval.
Mcfighter2 5 Feb @ 7:05am
I know this is very nit-picky but I don’t like how overly-exaggerated the animations are. Doesn’t match how the mercs are animated normally.
Zwenggy 1 Feb @ 8:20pm
In Sniper is funny
solidusgadget_#shutdowntf2 1 Feb @ 10:23am
That'd be a 500 v-bucks emote in Fortnite if they had a TF2 season
Hypo  [author] 30 Jan @ 9:01am
@Lovecraft what do you suggest as an alternative?
Lovecraft 30 Jan @ 5:23am
Forced. Why do they all need to pull something out of their backside?
