@[PMC] Scald unfortunately I'm not sure there's a lot of room on the island itself, and with all the teleports a fully robust navmesh probably isn't in the cards. I do have a new map that's probably a couple weeks from completion that's going to have a full-blooded navmesh from the start though!

@MadlessHatter thank you very much! I got sucked into control hard a couple years ago now and recently played through the final draft in alan wake 2, so I had remedy-verse stuff on the brain lmao

@aussie-_ The latest map has the animated texture packed in it, I've got it open on my steam deck right now which is a clean install and doesn't show a missing texture unfortunately.

Okay, sorry. I was just unhappy yesterday that I ran into a screamer again. (Although to be honest I guessed that it might be there and turned off the sound)

And I'm pretty sure there's only one jumpscare, it's just used three times in one location. I usually avoid sound-based scares but the scratch jumpscare from alan wake 2 was something that fit in pretty well with the Oceanview motel and the writer's room attached to it

I do like adding in slightly unnerving things to maps though, feels very nostalgic to the gmod maps I played when I was a kid 😁

Hello, this is a review of this "wonderful" map: although it apparently does not position itself as a horror, it has some of its elements. For example: oppressive atmosphere, creepy sounds, screamers in absolutely unnecessary places.

The screamers are located in different parts of the map and require some actions to activate them.

P.S. to the author of the map:
You freak, you lied to me about the screamers, why the hell did you put them here? I hope you burn in hell.

@Luna <3 I've posted elsewhere but it's a reference to the game(s) that motel and the writers room come from. It's also a method of unstucking players that can't figure out the puzzle. Sorry if it ruined your comfy lmao

@kudalev there's only one spot on the map that has any sort of real jumpscare, mostly as a means of unsticking the player if they get stuck in the Motel and can't figure out the puzzle. There is a black box that contains the logic and bits for the scare that will trigger if you noclip into it though lmao

I was trying super hard to try and bury the lede just a little bit, make it seem like a big grand adventure as you find more and more places as you get further from the start. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

This is genuinely my favorite map of all time. Me and a friend played through this expecting it to be a small map, instead we got to play through one of the best gaming experiences of all time. Amazing map, you should be proud of yourself for making this.

Upon playing this map, it is obvious that a lot of care and effort went into it. I appreciate the Control reference and puzzle, since I played the game I immediately knew what to do, but I won't spoil anything. The RED G-man and Interloper easter eggs was also amusing to discover. All in all, definetely a good quality exploration map. I look forward to seeing other projects by this creator.
