make the new update plssss
raitis  [author] 25 Jan, 2015 @ 4:07am
A bug due to a space character in file names made the launcher not remember that the mod was checked to be used the previous time, in effect making players check the mod each time they launched the game.
A fix was posted by an /r/EU4 user Tutush and pointed out to me by steam user Aurum.
Thanks to both of them.

Unfortunately, changing the file names made the Workshop recognize it as a different mod, so I had to create a new mod page to fix this bug, figuring this move is less bothersome than checking the mod every time you (and I) launch the game.

I've been experiencing a glitch where the game doesn't remember that I've enabled this mod, and I have to re-enable it in the launcher. I've been told it's because there's a space in the name of the mod. Apparently there's a fix for it, you can see the details here: http://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/2ston0/minor_bug_with_remembering_selected_mods/

Good to know. ;]
Luna 8 Jan, 2015 @ 3:20pm
Well, steam can be really wierd with updates, after some fiddling around I now got it working at least.
raitis  [author] 8 Jan, 2015 @ 2:39pm
Have you got the latest version? I have previously updated the mod to include the disaster sections.
Luna 8 Jan, 2015 @ 12:26pm
I can confirm it is missing the disaster sections in localisation.
Luna 8 Jan, 2015 @ 11:51am
This mod seems to break the disaster interface, removing this mod fixes it. Can someone confirm this?

Awesome! When you get to Asia: Ming can be Da Ming, and Korea could be Joseon.
raitis  [author] 20 Dec, 2014 @ 5:53pm
It seems not to. [i.imgur.com] It converts ß into SS.
But the diplomacy view font does ß. #1 [i.imgur.com] #2 [i.imgur.com]
Dr. Oetker 20 Dec, 2014 @ 2:53am
does the font do ß? -> try Preußen
raitis  [author] 20 Dec, 2014 @ 12:42am
Yes, that would be a better name than "Kingdom of Hungary".
Going to put that in the next update.
spanail 19 Dec, 2014 @ 2:27pm
Hungary = Magyarország

v.0.3 18.12.2014. changelog

Added compatibility for 1.9

CHANGE
Savoy - Savòja
Scotland - Scotland
Bavaria - Baiern
Switzerland - Eidgenossenschaft
Wallachia - Tara Româneasca
raitis  [author] 18 Dec, 2014 @ 2:23pm
Colony names would be a good place to continue next. I haven't yet checked out the naming mechanic, so I'll be able to answer at a later time.

Regarding adjectives. I still don't have a firm conviction either way but decided to copy over the endonyms to adjectives so that exonyms don't clash with endonyms. Finding the correct local language adjective for all countries was a task I didn't want to take up.

Yes, shortforms are favoured over three words that won't be readable on a map 99% of the time.

Changed Wallachia to Tara Româneasca.

Venice uses the local, not the Italian name.
raitis  [author] 18 Dec, 2014 @ 2:23pm
Back from a university induced break.
Update coming in a moment.
New text from 1.9 has been added to mod files.

For Palatinate, it was a typo in the changelog, the localisation file has the correct name.

About Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Yes, Polska-Lietuva is a stupid name, but "Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów" or "Lenkijos-Lietuvos Sandrauga" isn't going to be readable. Other options were also either only Polish or Lithuanian, but I wanted to include both languages so I settled with Polska-Lietuva. Any better (relatively short) suggestions are welcome, though.

Had qualms about Alba, changed it back to Scotland.
Changed Savoy to Piedmontese Savòja.
Hesse and Palatinate are not in general German but in their local dialects.
Changed Bavaria to a game-period's spelling Baiern.
Changed Switzerland to Eidgenossenschaft.
Yurii 15 Dec, 2014 @ 4:52pm
Isn't it 'Rzeczpospolita' for Commonwealth instead of 'Polska-Lietuva' like on the image?
Vyndicu 11 Dec, 2014 @ 12:03pm
I notice that this mod made "disaster system" almost unreadable. It doesn't tell you why a disaster is getting closer to trigger etc...

This started with the 1.9 patch so I would appreciate a quick fix.
greywitch 6 Dec, 2014 @ 6:33pm
Also, Scotland is fine for Scotland, especially during this period the Lowland Scots speakers were becoming the majority group over the Highland Gaels (the game period was also the period of the greatest literary output in Middle Scots).
greywitch 6 Dec, 2014 @ 6:31pm
Venèxia would be the name in the Venetian language. Venezia is the name in Italian, it makes more sense for an endonymic mod to use what the region's inhabitants call it. Just like using Zena for Geno(v)a.
MikyMaggio 6 Dec, 2014 @ 12:41pm
really? Venèxia?
wat da hell man its venezia im italian man!
jce31 3 Dec, 2014 @ 9:56am
Indian Nations:

Jaffna = Ayrakakravati
Ceylon = Mahanuwara Rajadhaniya
Mughals = Gūrkāniyān

i will post more if i come across them

Diogeneticist 2 Dec, 2014 @ 2:10pm
@marethyos Isn't is Hessen in standard german, but Hesse in the hessian dialect? (I never know what I should call it. It's Hesse in English, but pronounced hess, not hess-uh. Bluh!)
Iconomy 1 Dec, 2014 @ 4:28pm
For Wallachia, "Rumaneasca" doesn't really make sense because it's just an adjective meaning "Romanian (f)".

Growing up I heard it called "Țara Românească" as seen to the right here, under "Principality of Wallachia": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallachia

Even on the Romanian Wiki it is written as above, so yeah, add the noun before the adjective.
https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C8%9Aara_Rom%C3%A2neasc%C4%83

"Țara Rumânească" would also work as it fits better in the earlier time period.
1nf0calypse 1 Dec, 2014 @ 12:32pm
Hi, some updates for names:
"Kurpfalz" not "Kurpalz"
"Hessen" not "Hesse"
Thanks for the great mod!
Gilad Pellaeon 30 Nov, 2014 @ 6:19am
@Alndoria *browses through your steam library* Yeeeah, I don't think the wishes of software pirates should be catered to.
Lord Azymuth 27 Nov, 2014 @ 5:02am
Instead of Polska-Lietuva, you should use name "Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów", or "Lenkijos-Lietuvos Sandrauga"
fear 26 Nov, 2014 @ 11:07pm
Can you PLEASE upload it somewhere else? Mediafire or dropbox link would be appreciated.

Absolutely noble work. Thank you.
Alexander the Great 26 Nov, 2014 @ 8:34am
@Schlaufuchston no because Austria only became an empire oficcially round 1804.
Jimmy NightReign :3 26 Nov, 2014 @ 7:16am
@Schlaufuchston it can also be referred to as osterreich, and also the name would be rediculously long for eu4 so just leave it as osterreich
Kurf 26 Nov, 2014 @ 6:26am
Shouldn't Osterreich be renamed to Kaisertum Osterreich?
Professor Ass Phd. 26 Nov, 2014 @ 6:00am
I subscribed but it didn't download at all.
𝐅𝐄𝐍✦ 25 Nov, 2014 @ 4:26pm
@Tamarix, You always go for shortform. You don't put "Erzherzogtum Österreich" for Austria either. This is becaues you can play as the Netherlands, as a noble republic or as a duchy of the HRE - which means titles like 'republic' don't work all the time. This extends to kingdoms as well.
Tamarix 25 Nov, 2014 @ 3:06pm
You called The Netherlands, Nederland (Which is fine) but if you want to be 100% correct you should call it:

Republiek der zeven verenigde Nederlanden (Republic of the seven united Netherlands) - from 1588 to 1795

Koninkrijk Holland (Kingdom of Holland) - from 1795 to 1810

Verenigd Koninkrijk der Nederlanden (United Kingdom of The Netherlands) - from 1813 to now

Last one is still the official name but we pretty much only say Nederland nowadays. They wouldn't have back then though because all of The Netherlands and Belgium are seperate Netherlands so they would have thought it to be really odd to just name it one singular *Netherland* So if possible it would be nice if you change it (especially the difference between the republic and Kingdom)

But Nederland is already fine as well, noone would really care ;)

@IX MoNsTaR XI

The Autonym mod was discontinued for some disclosed reason. So he took it upon himself to continue the legacy from scratch.
Leaky 25 Nov, 2014 @ 12:36am
MoNsTaR, got a link to that mod ? Because the only link I can find for it dates from february.
IX MoNsTaR XI 24 Nov, 2014 @ 2:24pm
This is a complete copy of Autonym name mod, I don't understand why you would make this when there is already a mod that is more developed and more accurate then yours but W/E
Nikiforos V Fokas 24 Nov, 2014 @ 5:16am
You can, in good faith, use "Cymru" for Wales. Even today there's half a million people who would ID with Cymru being used as their country name rather than the anglised version, especially in the north and west. Anyway, thanks for the mod.
judge213 23 Nov, 2014 @ 3:19pm
Scotland should be....Scotland. The vast majority of the populatiuon do not speak Scots or Gaelic and you will find that there is a huge hostility to the promotion of these languages today. I understand that it was the language back then but even then it was dying out.
Mr. Senki 23 Nov, 2014 @ 4:51am
@Autisticus Maximus - "Magyar Királyság" in english is "Kingdom of Hungary" and if you want a demonym then use "magyar".
Ksolotl 23 Nov, 2014 @ 4:19am
It's Hessen not Hesse! And thanks for the Mod :D
Autisticus Maximus 22 Nov, 2014 @ 3:48am
Good mod, I've always missed this. It needs demonyms, though — what the heck is a 'Magyar Királyság conquest of Bosna'? Hungarian Kingdom conquest? Demonyms should either be endonyms or left as they were, rather than defaulting to the name of the state.
ImperfectPeter 22 Nov, 2014 @ 3:41am
i agree with Howie, most of Scotland at the time spoke English
Scaredy Nat 22 Nov, 2014 @ 2:46am
for most of the time this game is set, scotland was just known as scotland, not alba
Dumah 21 Nov, 2014 @ 7:08pm
Even that would be more apropriate than Polska-Lietuva.
Turboslav 21 Nov, 2014 @ 6:05pm
@Dumah I demand Abiejų Tautų Respublika instead!
Dumah 21 Nov, 2014 @ 5:02pm
Commonwealth should be - Rzeczpospolita, not Polska-Lietuva. Name Polska-Lietuva does not even make sense, because it is bi-lingual. Lithuania in polish - Litwa and Poland in lithuanian - Lenkija. That why IMO it would be much more apropriate to name it - Rzeczpospolita, like it was historically called by ruling elite.
