Also, as a side note, The San Antonio class LPDs (LPD-17 through 27 for flight I) where originally designed to have Mk41 VLS system in the forecastle to support Naval Surface Fire Support via Tomahawk strikes before an amphibious landing, they never had the VLS system installed but all the spaces to support it are there. so your interpretation of a VLS system isnt too far off!
