How to download?

The vision cone is like the biggest thing that stopped me from getting into this game fully, and the only other mod I found for it also breaks zombies and lets you see through walls. Nice to see another attempt at it

He he :D
Chaboter 29 Jun @ 7:40am
Im still laughing at Dr, Nilsson
Dr Nilsson 🖖 2 Jun @ 4:42am
Turns out i was just spawning in a completely blacked out room without any lights :P
Dr Nilsson 🖖 2 Jun @ 3:21am
Nevermind, it works now. :)
Dr Nilsson 🖖 2 Jun @ 3:09am
Did the latest unstable brake this mod? Because when loading a new game, everything is black and just some of the outlines of the building you start in and the menu is visible.

Love the idea of this mod. Wish it still had the shadows on solid objects, though, as zombies seemingly fade in and out of existence now without the "shadows". Also had an odd "flickering" visual bug (screen would jump from dark to light quickly and repeatedly) whenever I was in melee combat. It went away when I uninstalled the mod.
deathproof 20 May @ 8:46pm
works on version 42.8. Thx!
Fidel Catto  [author] 20 May @ 9:39am
Before anyone asks: version 42.6 of this mod is STILL compatible with version 42.8 of the game released today. However, as with every update, the installer will remove any "unofficial files" from the game folder, so you'll need to reinstall the mod manually again if you want to keep using it.

Установил и теперь вылетает на рабочий стол после загрузки на сохранёнку или создании новой игры..
Fidel Catto  [author] 8 Apr @ 5:35am
@Meyar Nope, version 42.6 of the mod is still compatible with Zomboid version 42.7 released today — no patch needed for the mod. However, you might need to reinstall it because the file may have been automatically replaced with the original during the 42.7 update.
Meyar 8 Apr @ 4:52am
Does this work with the latest version? Think I saw something in the change notes about a lighting fix so I'm *assuming* not.
Nepenthe 4 Apr @ 1:47am
@Spicy adjusting the vision cone from LUA can't get past a 180° vision arc.
Nepenthe 4 Apr @ 1:41am
@TEMPEST Eggon's hotkeys lets you bind keys to pick up/putdown/disassemble/rotate.
goomba120 3 Apr @ 4:55pm
when i follow the steps and get to the subscribe to the mod and find the folder its not in the steam workshop folders so i cant replace the file
iuri Felou 1 Apr @ 10:07pm

Re Disassembly. Your suggestion doesn't help when you're walking around a room or breaking down large, long fences. Going in / out of the crafting menu is almost as bad as the side HUD buttons - it never remembers your place etc.

I just want those hud buttons bindable... added to the fact that when you pick one of those hud buttons and move round breaking down, say a large fence, it randomly turns itself off and you have to go back and pick the hud button again. It's a royal PITA.
Fidel Catto  [author] 26 Mar @ 3:27am
@Proud Wingman You're welcome! =)
Fidel Catto  [author] 26 Mar @ 3:27am
@TEMPEST Yeah, I also play on an ultrawide screen, and having to constantly move my head back and forth can be pretty frustrating at times. BUT, you might not even need a mod for this! I’m guessing you’re repeatedly disassembling items, right?

If that’s the case, you can open the crafting menu (with the items you want to disassemble either in your inventory or nearby), search for the disassembly recipe of that specific item, and there you can choose how many items to disassemble in one go. Your character will then automatically go through them one by one.

As for rotating small objects, I think the R key should do the trick. And for rotating furniture, you can left-click (as if you were about to place it), then hold down the key and move your mouse in the direction you want. That way, the furniture will rotate around its own axis.
Proud Wingman 25 Mar @ 8:39am
Thanks as well from my side. Especially with the quick support for B42.6
TEMPEST 25 Mar @ 5:08am
Well I do have an idea for a mod; I'm not skilled enough to make it - I think it can be done in just LUA too... I want to have MOD OPTIONS to bind keystrokes to the PICKUP/PLACE/ROTATE/DISASSEMBLE HUD buttons on the right of the screen. And also move the context menu 'Disassemble' to the top of the context menu. I play on an ultrawide screen and the current UI is HORRIFIC. I'm forever moving my head and going from one side of the screen to the other. Does any of that interest you? If so you're welcome to the 'idea'.
Fidel Catto  [author] 25 Mar @ 3:07am
@TEMPEST That means a lot, thanks! I'm always open to feedback, so if you ever have any ideas, feel free to share. =) Happy gaming!
TEMPEST 25 Mar @ 2:56am
@Fidel Catto. Oh, that's a relief; I think your solution is far better besides. Thanks again for your amazing mod and communication.
Fidel Catto  [author] 25 Mar @ 2:47am
@TEMPEST Lol, nah, the mod you linked also gives 360º vision, but it also modifies other files to let you see zombies through walls. Since I just wanted a mod that only allowed 360º vision, I made my own. =)
TEMPEST 25 Mar @ 2:33am
Has someone stolen your mod and re-upped it under their name? https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3421266450&searchtext=
Fidel Catto  [author] 25 Mar @ 2:26am
@Flexible Games Thanks! Another user, Spicy, already suggested using this mod to update the Eagle Eyed trait, but creating a brand-new (and more expensive) trait sounds way more balanced and better. But before I can try that, I need to dive into the LUA documentation and see if it’s even possible to modify this class method. That’s something I definitely want to explore in the not-so-distant future. =)
Fidel Catto  [author] 25 Mar @ 2:25am
Fidel Catto  [author] 25 Mar @ 2:25am
@Tempest Thanks a lot! I’m glad you liked the mod. =) As for automatic installation, I plan to give it a shot once I have some free time to go through the LUA documentation. But you brought up a good point I hadn’t considered—maybe TIS doesn’t allow access to this kind of method via LUA scripts.
Fidel Catto  [author] 25 Mar @ 2:24am
@Fredusion_Masterus_1_ Haha, thanks a lot for the kind words! I'll keep doing my best!
Flexible Games 24 Mar @ 9:47pm
As your first mod, bravo, editing the bytecode of a java class file is quite a first step into modding! Couldn't something similar be done with an added trait? "HyperAware" or something...
SIMBAproduz 24 Mar @ 2:58pm
GENIAL FIDEL, obrigado por isso amigo!
Agora, conseguirei produzir imagens cinematográficas 😍
TEMPEST 24 Mar @ 2:27pm
Thank you for this mod and for being so fast to make it work with the latest beta. You're amazing. I wish this wasn't a manual patch but I guess TIS don't want anyone changing this.
Fredusion_Masterus_1_ 24 Mar @ 2:19pm
Fidel Catto, sir, I greet you. Was in the middle of a recording and half a playthrough over 300 days. Is one of the few essential major mods for me. Was already in the process of fixing the mod myself and then I see the update after a clean install when downloading again. Excellent work, stay my friend. Change this file is more Stable for 500+ Mods im Runinng! ^^
Fidel Catto  [author] 24 Mar @ 2:01pm
@JCity Updated to b42.6, thanks for letting me know. Try re-subscribing the mod if Steam doesn't download the patch automatically.
Fidel Catto  [author] 24 Mar @ 1:57pm
@SpankytheHero Yep! You can use 'Verify integrity of game files' to uninstall the mod. That step is actually already included in the guide, but I appreciate the suggestion! =)
SpankytheHero 24 Mar @ 7:16am
Just wanted to chime in that this is not very tedious, just replacing a single file is probably one of the easiest manual installs. Considering we are only talking about a single file, would simply re verifying the game be sufficient to "uninstall"? Not that I need to but suggesting for your uninstall steps.
Fidel Catto  [author] 23 Mar @ 7:15pm
@Spicy Haha, I bet there are :winter2019joyfultearsdog: but it's not just about adding or modifying a trait; it's also about modifying the return of a method of a specific class, and that requires knowledge of the language.
Spicy 23 Mar @ 5:55pm
@Fidel Catto There are plenty of other mods that adds traits whose code can... inspire your homework
Fidel Catto  [author] 23 Mar @ 4:47pm
@Spicy That's actually a good idea, but currently, I don't have any knowledge of the LUA language to implement a mod that modifies traits. In the future, when I have more free time, I plan to read the LUA documentation and try to implement it.
Spicy 23 Mar @ 8:58am
Instead of a tedious manual installation, would it not be possible to simply add a doped-up version of the eagle eyed trait?
Timou 22 Mar @ 2:45am
@Fidel Catto
Thanks for such a detailed answer!
Fidel Catto  [author] 22 Mar @ 12:24am
@Timou Well, both mods offer the player a 360º view. However, as of today, the Unlock_viZionB42 mod also allows you to see through walls, even though this feature is not explicitly mentioned.

As I had already mentioned on the mod page (before the author hid the comments), I think this ability is very OP and ends up removing a lot of the surprise element. But this is all a matter of player preferences and perspectives, right? Most people would probably consider a 360º view extremely OP as well. XD

Curiously this "feature" seems to be implicitly present in other mods as well, such as "More Zoom Levels and 360 Vision" from Build 41, which (according to discussion threads on the mod page) also allows zombies to see you through walls.

But that's basically it; if you just want a full 360º field of view, I recommend my mod. If you're looking for that view along with the ability to see all the zombies in the neighborhood through walls and fences, then the other mod is the better choice.
Timou 21 Mar @ 10:22pm
How is your mod better than this one? Unlock_viZionB42
