I've got some good news and some bad news about the rework I was planning.

Bad news is that my initial plan won't work due to constraints with the Lua API.

The good news is that I've found a different workaround to make sure that you absolutely will not lose any loot, and it will be much faster to implement.

Basically the reason why loot was lost is because there's invisible containers that actually hold the loot, and these can get left behind in certain circumstances, making it look like your containers are inaccessible.
What I will do is add a check that will teleport those containers to you if they are left behind. This should make it bulletproof.

I will also fix issues like the bike just getting put in inventory sometimes, and sometimes triggering the animation even though the equip action failed

Fantastic mod . i pair it with a map move mod i made and its perfect for getting around in tree infested 10 years later. I'm having an issue with it just not working suddenly the character just tries to put it in their inventory when pressing use I'm gonna mess with it and see what the issue could be

@A Dogwork Orange There's some positives and negatives for either method. For example you can't pack a vehicle into a container/trunk, thats why you have to disassemble bravens bike before storing it.
Mine can't have physics or trailers because that's only possible for vehicles.
Ultimately I decided on this method because it's more flexible for what I want to do.

Btw, it's a bit rude to go on someone's mod page just to say you prefer someone else's mod.

10/10 one of the greatest mods of all time. Currently doing a nomad alcoholic run where I just bike around looking for booze to stay alive. Some of the most fun i've had in Zomboid in a long time.

@nicebagdad Try going to mod options and enable the "Allow transfer to inventory" option and then drag it into your player inventory, that should work.

Which modded vehicle was it? I can take a look and see if it's possible to add support for it.

my bike is in the trunk of a car, but I can't take it out. Anyway to fix this? its in the inventory, its just not allowing me to remove it in any way. (this is a modded vehicle)

@RedChili Thank you very much for the suggestion. I respawned my items since I could not find them via the debug menu, then dropped the rest of my stuff on the floor and switched to the Lite version. Works wonderfully so far! It's basically the best aspects of the mod without the weird inventory glitch. I am slightly sad that I have no more access to a flashlight but that's totally fine! I'm looking forward for the update :)

@BonerBreath Did you make sure to put a battery in before attaching it? You then use F while on the bike to turn it on.


@EagerPlanes341 There is a hard cap of 50 that the core game imposes, but I have my own code that overrides it and allows for more than that. You might have another mod that interferes with mine and makes it so the bypass isn't working. This should be a non-issue once I finish the rework.

@Wilson P. Higgs Sorry to hear that, I do have a rework planned that will make it impossible to lose loot, but it will take some time before it's done.

For now what I suggest is to use the lite version of the mod, it comes with all the containers permanently attached and you can't lose the loot in them since it behaves differently from this version. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3499028882

The only way for you to get that food back is to go back to the spot where you jumped on the bike before losing it and use scavenge mode to find an invisible basket which will have all your stuff.

The same issues that has happened to most people has (unfortunately) found It's way to my game now. I had my basket loaded with all my food since I'm doing a nomad run, and the basket is apparently gone from the inventory menu. It's still attached to the bike, and I can remove it, but I don't really want to lose the food and starve lol (It's winter in the middle of nowhere)

Is this getting a fix in the future, or is there any way to fix it now? I tried hopping on and off but that didn't do it. Neither did restarting the game. I'm loving the bicycle, It's an amazing, quieter alternative to vehicles in long-term runs without fuel.. But if I'm gonna keep losing my items from disappearing containers, what's really the point of using them?

I upgraded the bike with a light and basket, I can see the basket, but the light doesn't seem to do anything, even in my pitch black garage

Is there a max amount of loot you can carry globally? I fully filled the front basket and bike bags, but could only put 8 kg in the back crate. I reordered things and it seemed to cap at about 45 (If I remember correctly)
Is this a bug or a feature?
Also, is the bike crate just really rare or a craftable because I can't find it anywhere, I had to spawn it in.

a basket attached to the bike will be shown as an item you can pick up in the foraging screen. i attempted to pick it up through foraging and now a basket icon is there permanently

unsure if it's been reported or not, but doing inventory management while riding the bike at "walk" speed keeps the mount point on your hands, leading to this very funny interaction

additionally, opening the map on the bike does something similar. really good implementation of a bike, better than the others we've had

Hey @RedChili Unfortunately, there were problems with this mod, I was frozen without being able to do anything and errors started pouring in endlessly. I posted in the errors section.
But the bike feels great and is comfortable to use.
The bags really weren't displayed, are they supposed to be like containers?

Holding down right click makes you ride faster than just WASD keys. It's not much faster, but it's just fast enough to make the difference between outpacing and being slower than a sprinter.

I'm gonna do a big rework of this mod soon, I realized there's a different method I can use, so it's going to completely change how the attachment system works so it will be impossible to lose loot and eliminates like 90% of the code that is making things complicated, meaning it will also work with inventory tetris.

The bikes will be lost when it happens, but I'll warn in advance that you should empty your bikes from loot, and then you can use the mod option I put in to spawn the bike back.

@Skidblaniir if it's the bug regarding the bike becoming invisible when you attempt to mount it(you start riding an invisible bike) you have to ride back to the physical location of the bike and climb on/off again.

i have an issue...idk why but i ride instead of walking even i dont have the bike in the inventory! it is invisible.

So, scratch that. I figured out how to actually attach the upgrades to the bike(it has to be in the vicinity inventory menu, my bad.) but after adding the upgrades I noticed a couple of issues. One was that the actual models for the bike/saddlebags/crate didn't actually show up on the bike despite the fact they were clearly available for storage and it didnt seem to go away no matter what I did(mounting/dismounting etc). Second was that after attaching the upgrades to the bike, they containers were inexplicably added to my worn inventory with a weight of .2 each. Not super annoying, but weird. I was using the Debug spawns to figure this out, so maybe it's an issue with that, I'm not totally sure.

I don't *think* I have any other mods with compatibility issues, but I can't seem to "grab" the bicycle off the ground. The right click menu option for it is there, but when I click it nothing happens. I only realized this after trying to install a basket mod and having trouble trying to follow the instructions to do so. Is there some kind of weird mechanic I'm missing to get this thing in my inventory proper?

This bike saved my life during a helicopter fly-by ! \o/ It's slightly buggy to get on/off the bike sometimes (the animation plays but the bike stays behind), but just pressing E again close to the bicycle always seems to solve it). Plus it's really cool to have when you have several cars to bring to a new location, you get on the bike, get to the car, put the bike in the trunk, and drive the car home !
Is there any chance that in the future we could have small trailer attachments for the bicycle (regular, cooler, etc.) ? I also would love bicycle racks to keep bikes tidy at base. It's probably a long shot and a lot of work, but just putting it out there !

@Senschey You can add it on an existing save, it will re-check all the possible spawn locations when added, so even if you go back to a place you already looted there could be a bicycle there.

@Marszałek Kilos53 There is an option in the mod options that's intended for modders only, make sure you do not have that one enabled.

If that option is disabled and you still have the issue then you might have another mod that is interfering with mine. Do you get any errors on startup?

@The Strange Man Yes it works to add mid save, they can even spawn in areas you've already been to unlike other loot.

@Fireblanket Cheers, glad you like it! Yes unfortunately TIS made it impossible to alter the weight of weapons (the bike is technically a weapon) using Lua in b42, so I can't change it on the fly. So as to make it more balanced and not be weightless I put just a bit of weight on it.

This has some graphical issues with CleanUI. They do go away after using the [B42] Another items UI beta option in Mod options.

@Tortoise_321 Do you play with any mods that heavily alters the inventory system? Like inventory tetris? Unfortunately most of those type of mods won't be compatible.
Have you tried on a fresh save with just the bike mod enabled and see if it works then?

Not sure why this is happening, but no matter how hard i try to get on the bike, by clicking E, right clicking hop on, messing with settings, I cant ride it. it just teleports in to my inventory and if i dont have enogh space it literally just does nothing, cant ride it, cant do antything pls help.

I don't know where i am supposed to put this but, ran into a bug where I could not access the Saddle Bags and Basket on my Bike until i took them off and put them back on. Even worse it deleted all the useful tools i looted in the Saddle Bag once i took that off and put it back to fix it not appearing (i was not happy)

Can't use the lamp upgrade does the animation like it's equipping it but the lamp remains in my inventory. Yes it has a battery in it.

Good idea, but too many errors and bugs.
Stuck in the bike animation (but not riding the bike) if you press E close ( but not close enough the bike to ride it)
May try again in the future, but for now will unsuscribe.

@Eva'Zorah when you open up your Car's Trunk while on your bike you auto give off the bike letting you transfer it off the ground Inventory into your Car's Trunk Inventory (the bike will be pressed up against the back of the car). Closing the Trunk without putting the bike in will automatically put you back on your bike.
