As for the helmet mod, I couldn't bother disabling 120+ mods just to record a video back then, maybe I'll re-record a new one at a later date

Not sure about the helmet... (Gordon Freeman doesn't wear one in half life 2, so he shouldn't wear it in black mesa) But definitely worth it

FYI: The mod "Alex's Better Anims - HEV Suit" works for me; placed in the custom folder.

For whatever reason I cannot get it to work.
It's in my custom folder, renamed it, to be listed first, with a total of 85 files in the custom folder + "1_BMCERevised" folder.

Any ideas?

I did run into this exact same issue once
For me, I fixed it by renaming all mods in custom starting with the letters O -> Z by either adding a 1_, A_ or B_ as a prefix

Or alternatively (the harder option): decompile all your .vpk files and its contents (i.e. materials, models, sound) into a folder, then recompile it - I used VPKEdit to do it smoothly

it says I have 126 mods but I know it's specifically this mod causing the crashes when i enter the suit. I only have mods for visual and sound improvements for other aspects of the game

I can remove the bootup text, theoretically
But I don't know about adding in a blur effect w/o significant modification, or most likely a case of requiring Engine Access™

Love this even though Gordon canonically doesn't wear the helmet, the only things that could improve this (although I have no idea if it's even remotely possible) would be if the HUD didn't display at all until the helmet was on, and if his vision blurred a little between when he takes off his glasses and puts the helmet on.

i thought the glasses were the HUD and the mk IV was the only one that didnt have a helmet? all the ones in xen are mk V that we see

Hm, considering HL2's relatively short HEV introductory sequence - I don't think I can port over all the sounds without them overlapping with dialogue, level soundscapes and scripted sequences
