Considering all the footage I see of the lunge being used offensively has the hunter player get obliterated without doing anything much, Valve likely considered the ability redundant when compared to the pounce, which might be why they dumbed it down to an escape ability that only the AI uses in campaign mode.
Why is it exclusive to the AI? Might be because of valve wanting versus to be fast paced, which means that special infected should be attacking as quick as possible, hence why didn't they like the idea of a human player trying to run away after failing a pounce instead of keeping pressure on the survivors.
Real comment, or maybe not, I don't know.
And seriously though, this shit is great, you're doing the workshop proud.
