one probably practical solution: let yoru make their own dead space spitter sounds mod, everyone would be satisfied ya?
as for the addon itself, I like spitter_lurk_08, 09 and 12, they fit the best to the spitter monstrosity model in preview, in my opinion. others are unnerving screams, which aren't exactly to my taste, but maybe it's a good idea in it's own right? maybe adds more ambience to a level since spitter never shuts up.
whilst consistency is good practice, this type of sound thinking isn't bad.
my line of thought while making this mod is imagining the spitter less as an infected human but more of an outworldly monster, akin to silent hill or afraid of monsters itself, as in, it's mimicking sounds to attract humans, such as laughing, crying, animal sounds, and so on. kinda the same idea as the skinwalker zoey mod actually, so at this point, is that you're hearing even real? or is it your ears playing tricks on you? what even IS the spitter?
no... i wouldn't say so, the spitter is just really high pitched and i find that really grating to my ears, between her high pitched shrieks and the string orchestra that plays when near/on acid, i mostly just find it annoying.
i have the same problem with most l4d2-exclusive sound effects, like that sound effect of the common going NYEEEIHHHEHHH NIYYEEEHHH when chasing you, it's just really high pitched and annoying sounding to the point where it sincerely just makes me wince... maybe it's a me thing!
