Gave that mopd a quick glance. There's some implementation details (i.e. this framework allows animals to use actual apparel, that mod there simulates apparel it looks like), but ignoring those, if you use this framework with Basic Armors, you get some actual armor graphics for (some) animals. This framework also lets them use shield belts and jump packs.
I'm sure there's a mod that already does it! I want to be careful to not include too many extra features that aren't directly relevant to animal apparel
You're right! That mod has its own strategies for making apparel work for an animal. I've written a quick patch so that the two mods work alongside one another. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3528241203
It seems to work if Vanilla Combat Reloaded is before this mod in your load order. I've only tested it briefly however
BodyPartRecord(Shoulder parts.Count=2) group: Shoulders, AnimalBody
UnityEngine.StackTraceUtility:ExtractStackTrace ()
Verse.Log:Message (string)
AnimalGear.AnimalGearHarmony/ApparelUtility_HasPartsToWear_Patch:Prefix (Verse.Pawn,Verse.ThingDef)
Ludeon changed some things a few days with the Odyssey relase which sounds like it is causing those issues. I am investigating!
One small problem, can't seem to force equip my animals with shield belts (with the new 1.6 force equip feature). It gives the "missing body part" error on the top of the screen. Tested with multiple different animals (scimitar cat, cat, horse, cow...), gives the same error each time.
The problems that just disappear by themselves are the best ones! I can't think of anything this mod does that could cause a full crash at all, but do let me know if it happens again and you can get a log of it
The bad news first: I can not upload the log.
The good news: I can not, because the game didn't crash anymore.
Don't ask me!
Maybe, because a different loading order.
Maybe due to the change of the main game or another mod.
Who knows ...
Alternatively, start Rimworld without the crashing mod. In the main menu, Options->General->Click "Open" next to "Log File Folder". Then restart Rimworld WITH the crashing mod so a new player.log is created.
And yes, it should be created even when the game crashes
Where can I find it?
(It might take a while till I'm able to upload the log.)
Do you have a player.log you could send me? Ideally uploaded to pastebin, or contact me under "Ingendum" on discord. This is the first time I'm hearing about an issue like this. Since this mod is very fresh, there could be incompatibilities I am not aware of
(I've tested all the mods I've recently added to try and identify the cause.)
When the game crashes, a temporary icon is displayed indicating a Unity issue.
It's a shame, as I would love to use a modern animal armour mod in RimWorld 1.6 for a first-time use of such a mod.
Are there any known mod conflicts? I don't use any animal gear-related mods, nor do I use CE.
Could it be an issue with the loading order? Do you suggest placing it early or late in the loading order?
Which animal apparel mods are you referring to? This one is ONLY compatible with Animal Apparel: Basic Armor released by me, and should not be used with any mods that use Dylan's "Animal Gear", which does not have a 1.6 version yet
Ave armors are now supported and part of Animal Apparel: Basic Armor
Seeing that the major hurdle is the artwork, you might want to think about ways people could contribute as time goes on. Cooperation and such.
Hey! Great to hear from someone who contributed back then. Sadly, not (yet). I've focused entirely on vanilla animals so far, but I have a definitive soft spot for alpha animals, Aves in particular, so it is almost guaranteed I'll get to it!
Hoping that the artwork for the Ave managed to make its way to this as well.
