if you wanted to make it harder and more realistic, you could add a lead poisoning debuff that slowly gets worse until the lead is removed, and is permanent/near permanent, making it even more of a rush to fix the injury

I tried this out, and I love the idea. Struggling with the wound until you find the required supplies (TIL that you do not need thread to use a suture needle, after searching for thread for a very long while).
But changing the bandage often, I have come to notice that my health does not drop when the bandage is out? I don't know if this is a bug, or if it is deliberate so that you don't instantly die.

Works really well. I use a mod that lets me start with bandages and tweezers so I immediately take care of the wound hehe

FYI the courier was shot twice. Maybe a version with a head fracture to also rep that. Dont make it as severe as it can be tho i know that if its maxed out somehow it can take literally 4 months to heal with max food and whatnot haha.
