What's the thruster damage range?
Shroom 12 Jun, 2016 @ 12:52am
Have the dampeners on this mod been corrected yet? I will hold off on adding this to my server
Tristavius  [author] 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:24pm
Ah, I get the feeling there may have been changes of late which mean the dampening has to be set (before was just a factor of the overall power). Will investigate; thanks for the report.
agrimes 27 Mar, 2016 @ 9:06am
the damping factor on these is crazy high. It operates normally under acceleration but when dampers are engaged, a pair of these can bring a 14,000 ton starship to dead stop in like 1.3 seconds... =\
Tristavius  [author] 1 Aug, 2015 @ 10:33pm
From a forum post on the topic...

"They are 4x the volume of the stock Large.
Their thrust performance is (4 * Stock) * 0.892. This works out about 3.57x the thrust instead of the baseline 4x.
Power performance is (4 * Stock) * 1.431. This works out as using 5.7x the power instead of the baseline 4x.

In short, more power hungry, less thrust than expected but they allow for an increase on the X axis of a ship, not just the Y and Z. Larger crafts can use them to be faster, but in theory, with the same percentage of their volume dedicated to engines as a smaller ship, they will still remain slightly slower."
Pharap 1 Aug, 2015 @ 6:15pm
So it provides less thrust and consumes more fuel?

@AceLegend54 It's paintable :P
AceLegend54 13 Apr, 2015 @ 12:44pm
Do they come in red?
BlackRedDead 13 Apr, 2015 @ 8:10am
okay, its the bc-304 ;-)
would be a chalange to fit the color^^, if you want i make you a recolor without balancing changes, link me the wanted engines and i look at some myself after i find a matching color grade ;-)
Raziel 8 Apr, 2015 @ 10:24am
You can save a version of the (same color as possible thermal titanium engine) engine make as thermal exhaust version with the Titan Engine (resized)? To be able to make a coherent tail. (trying to build a X 304. Did than the two main engines, the thermal titanium engine. Now I still need the medium and small engines with itself possible color and design. but nowhere find something suitable).

hey, can i use your thruster for a recoler and rebalance pack with some thrusters for my enhancement pack?
Tristavius  [author] 4 Mar, 2015 @ 8:32pm
Please feel free and thanks for asking first (so many blind requests these days) :)

I'm not online that much unless you happen to be in about GMT+4 but I'll drop you my e-mail address or something as well.
MagnusEffect 4 Mar, 2015 @ 3:58pm
Trist, can I add you as a friend? there is some stuff regarding your thruster and the Titan I would like to discuss privately.
Tristavius  [author] 19 Feb, 2015 @ 6:48am
Hi Rolwgord. While I've usually said no to people rebalancing them, if you're doing all the engines alongside it anyway, I don't see a problem :) Permission granted.

Just a link to either this item or the mods collection is fine.

If you need any help, let me know!
Rolwgord 19 Feb, 2015 @ 5:57am
Hi, We are using Your Prometheus thruster mod on our DS. I'm planning to rebalance (make them stronger) all thrusters for large ships on our DS. As You know, to do that I would need to copy almost entire mod, including textures.... Can i get Your permission to do that (giving links to orginal mod and creator)?
Tristavius  [author] 6 Feb, 2015 @ 4:09am
MInor update adding flame effects for damage.
eq.sarganis 3 Jan, 2015 @ 9:30am
Thanks for this mod.
Looking forward for bigger brother Helios!
JWA 29 Dec, 2014 @ 5:41pm
Oh no I didn't mean the same as theirs. I meant t he style which is more a vent type engine, but on a capital ship level instead of for manuvering. Basically I just wanted something to fit into the curves of the ship rather than having the nozzel stick out. Glad you made a small ship version of this though, because it totally works for that!
Tristavius  [author] 29 Dec, 2014 @ 5:14am
Updated! Small ship version added (3 build states) and I finally have the correct version of Maya so both models now have colission meshes! Enlarged the idle flame slightly to fill the nozel properly.
Tristavius  [author] 23 Dec, 2014 @ 5:04am
I've decided to add the small ship version of this as well which will be released shortly-ish. This will probably be the largest engine anyone could realistically need for a small ship I think. Still having trouble with colissions as all my work to get hold of Maya ended up with me getting the wrong version. Now having to try and get an older, compaible version :(
Tristavius  [author] 23 Dec, 2014 @ 5:02am
There is indeed a possibility of such a thing in the future, though of course I'm unlikely to release anything in direct competition to the other popular engines. My personal preference is to make more stock-alike parts for those of us who prefer the more vanilla feel to things.
JWA 15 Dec, 2014 @ 6:23pm
This is very cool and works well but I am looking for something that doesn't stick out as much. Kind of like the manuvering thrusters or azimuth ones, but on a capital ship level...Is there any chance you could make something like that with this futuristic look?
Tristavius  [author] 13 Dec, 2014 @ 6:21am
My wife can probably give you a list :P
Dwarf-Lord Pangolin 12 Dec, 2014 @ 9:05pm
Definitely going to have to give this a try. Might see about fitting it on my Gladius as a replacement for the Industrial Engines.

PS: you design ships, you have awesome Photoshop skills, and you've picked up modeling, texturing, and modding? Is there anything you can't do?!
Forgi LaGeord 12 Dec, 2014 @ 1:16am
Yendor, there are several mods already for increased Spherical Gravity Generator Range.
YENDOR MOSREH 11 Dec, 2014 @ 11:32pm
and if posable have a setting to make it no clip and no power needed to run the spherical gravity generator for testing reasons
YENDOR MOSREH 11 Dec, 2014 @ 11:30pm
are you able the make a copy of the spherical gravity generator that has a massive incress to range from 400 blocks to 10000 blocks and an incress to spherical gravity generators power output on the order of 10 to 100 times stronger so i can set up orbiting satalites or asteroids
Tristavius  [author] 10 Dec, 2014 @ 1:11pm
Oh and @GrimmSpecter - thanks for the advice on Maya, I'm pleased to report I now have a copy! Should have some working colission meshes in the next day or two :)
Tristavius  [author] 10 Dec, 2014 @ 1:10pm
@ Andbruu, SirMars, Nastika & Dwarflord - Thanks, glad you all like! This is what I've really wanted for a long time so decided to learn how to model myself :P

@ Theclucker - Wrong file, but yes, there will be changes to the viewscreens coming. Just waiting on a bit more API info :)

@MagnusEffect - Ah, thatks for pointing that out; there's a lot of medium thruster mods out there but this one does actually seem more or less how I'd have made it so I will probably just recommend it rather than add my own.

@Killer96 - Yes please, that would be great! I think I might already be in the Skype chat actually, been lurking and asking for the odd bit of help for a while :)
andbruu 10 Dec, 2014 @ 12:12pm
Nice take on balance. Glad to see you consider cost as more than just materials, that are a one time investment, and include volume that can be considered a constant cost... just like power.
When I move beyond my current Fighter-Bomber phase, I will try them on something larger. Looking forward to it, and hopefully with collision.
SirMars 10 Dec, 2014 @ 1:02am
Slow Clap* Preach about the Balancing of mods man.. Great work too :)
Farquaad 9 Dec, 2014 @ 5:05pm
Wow this came out great. Glad to see it in the workshop.
Vinier McNuggNugg 9 Dec, 2014 @ 12:14pm
can you make a version of your screen viewing asteroids, can you make it a window? and remove the asteroids so i can see xD
MagnusEffect 8 Dec, 2014 @ 6:30pm
@ Tris.. there is a pretty decent fix to the vanilla medium thruster here:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=297487723

not entirely sure of its stats, but I've used it before and it feels about right in terms of game balance. might save you the effort of making your own version if it meets your expectations.
Dwarf-Lord Pangolin 8 Dec, 2014 @ 4:56pm
Very excited to see this. Going to take a look at it. I approve whole-heartedly of your approach to balance.
Officer SkidMark 8 Dec, 2014 @ 4:23pm
Hey Tristavius there is a modder group called the Modding Collective here on steam. we have a bunch of good and some well known modders, we have our own survival dedicated survival we play on. i was wondering if you were intrested in joining our group. we all like to just have fun, work together, help each other out. and well come out with a lot of good content. we talk on Skype as well. if your intrested PM me i sent you a friend request.
Antharann Fireblade 8 Dec, 2014 @ 3:29pm
im looking mainly forward to use them on small ships, i got to say, but still cool looking!
(im not that good with constructing large ships...)
Tristavius  [author] 8 Dec, 2014 @ 3:19pm
Thanks guys, glad some people are enjoying :)

2x2x3 was on my spreadsheet as well... while I think the use as an ahead-engine will be very limited (maybe around the Corvette range), they'd make a great lateral thruster for cruisers and like likes where mounting a large is hard but smalls are just too small.

Next on the list however is closing the final major gap; between the Titan and the Prometheus. Next up will be the Helios 5x5x12. WIll also put out a re-balanced Medium (I really think they never intended that to be used as-is, just as an example).
Antharann Fireblade 8 Dec, 2014 @ 2:03pm
now we need some tileling thrusters aswell to get some REALLY Cool looking engine cells!
and also some 2x2x3 trusters (2 blocks wide 2 blocks high and 3blocks long). for small and large ships both ideas.
MagnusEffect 8 Dec, 2014 @ 1:37pm
thank you, Tris. A *balanced* thruster mod was very much needed.
Tristavius  [author] 8 Dec, 2014 @ 9:21am
Also thanks for the info about Maya, I'll probably give it a go in the near future. Stretching the definition of learning a bit but I guess this isn't commercial and I'm using it for enjoyment only :)
Tristavius  [author] 8 Dec, 2014 @ 12:46am
Usage I suspect will really vary... using the Phoenix shipyards scale for example, chances are a frigate or a cruiser would only make use of 1 or 2 of these, if any at all as they can still achieve good performance on stock alone. A battleship however really struggles without the extra depth and something like this may well form the main propulsion.

Power wise, they're not expensive at all. One XL provides 3.5x the Thrust as a large (while occupying 4x the volume). Power wise it consumes about 30% more per N of thrust provided. The main reason for this is to prevent smaller ships from overstacking large engines as they're forced to dedicate more and more or their volume to power (which they likely can't afford to do). On a larger ship however a 30% increase in needed reactors should hardly even register.
Aziraphale 7 Dec, 2014 @ 7:41pm
im allowed too aslong as its for learning of which this is
Aziraphale 7 Dec, 2014 @ 7:40pm
you could get maya/3dmax for free for the collision as a student for 3 years i would even give you my school code
Volthorne 7 Dec, 2014 @ 6:48pm
With the current stats this is really only useful as a substitute on small large ships - and even then only where you'd be replacing a few thrusters instead of lots (less than 10), especially with that power consumption (sweet jesus those are way too expensive power-wise).
