okay to be crystal clear, this map is very very very good. would like to offer a couple things id like to see in a followup though because i think theres even more potential here. of course feel free to cherry pick whatever you resonate with since its your vision

first, i think you have an EXCELLENT intuition for outdoor terrain. (rq also btw i can see into the ground next to the gutterpipe right of the front door.) this is a weird thing to get excited over but the way you placed the boulders and driftwood and the transitions between sand and grass textures and the sea level is so... fascinating. i dont want to sound like an art critic but at least to me its really striking and theres probably something cool you could do if you allowed yourself to explore it more. other ideas that were really good outside were the little triangle you cut off from the stairs leading up to the front door and the layers of corrugated metal covering the roof on top of the extant corrugated metal texture.

the inside i wish was more complex. while the interactibles are good and the furnishing job you did is good, theres some kind of nonequivalence between the excellence of the outside and the goodness of the inside, if you can sorta tell what i mean, and it leaves me hanging a little. i would be very curious to see what a map on this scale would look like if you put as much detail and feeling into the interiors as you did the outside. for example the stairway leading upstairs felt empty, and theres probably something you could do relating to the isolated/abandoned island aesthetic to spice up the walls and decorations a bit. gm_fishhouse by ruduraro is prob my mental model for coziness in this subgenre of map and that guy nailed the interior design.

having stuff placed beyond the fog would also make the fog serve a more interesting function imo. the isolation feels arbitrary instead of formed by the landscape, if that makes sense.

I really appreciate details like the running bath and being able to turn stuff on and off, as well as the hidden eastereggs/area under the house, was half expecting skibidi to pop its head out after like 10 toilet flushes xD
It'd be cool if you expand the map with other islands and more easter eggs in the future :demoticon:

LUKEY D FRESH 27 Jul @ 4:47pm
reminds me of gm_riptide, but far more refined soundscape/interactivity. very comfy.
Global 26 Jul @ 7:43pm
Big agree on what others are suggesting, CompilePal works great with soundscapes. I use it every time, and it never misses files from soundscapes.
Amy Rose 26 Jul @ 3:41pm
I don't know if this issue is just happening to me but the rain appears inside the house in some parts.
like a clipping issue or something like that
Periodic Table 26 Jul @ 7:14am
For your soundscape issue I remember VIDE had this issue. Compile Pal does not (or it at least give you info on what is causing the error).
EJ_5527 25 Jul @ 5:35pm
ahh thats a shame, but the map is pretty good regardless. used it in most screenshots for my most recent addon
twox  [author] 25 Jul @ 3:40pm
thanks for the comments on including the soundscape, i initially did pack it into the bsp but gmod blocks it ingame
EJ_5527 25 Jul @ 1:48pm
@Adood if it doesnt you can open the console using your ` or ~ key and type in nav_generate
EJ_5527 25 Jul @ 1:47pm
you may be able to pack the soundscape file into your bsp, using VIDE.
Adood 25 Jul @ 1:40pm
:DTDA_Shield_Saw:
Adood 25 Jul @ 1:40pm
does it have a navmesh?
MagicalFruitBasket 25 Jul @ 5:05am
You have to pack the soundscape txt file into the bsp itself.
Just use pakrat or something.
Sagninaw 24 Jul @ 9:53pm

twox  [author] 24 Jul @ 9:16am
ok i will try to fix
russianbear 24 Jul @ 6:33am
It does require extra content. There are several errors on the ground floor+sound of rain is missing. And that's despite the latest gmod update, when css and hl episodes content has been added.
ollie 24 Jul @ 12:42am
really fuckin overrated
