Probably because you know more about your game engine than about the isaac api....also, progress is meaningless and nonlinear when it comes to development, so its a terrible way of meassuring it, you will make lots of progress on the first half of dev and it will innevitably slow down towards the end. All this without mentioning the countless obvious factors you are ignoring to make such a claim, the fact that on a mod your are building on top of a game and in game dev you are building THE game, which requires a lot more parts.

Again, no, you are not the first one, I do not have an entire database of every instance were custom lasers were used in a mod but Trisagion is the one that comes to mind, it was even integrated into the game...it adds an item that uses lasers.

No offense, but thousands of people have been modding this game, using the api, for almost a decade now...so I think its safe to assume that you are not the first one to change the sprite of a laser and add homming to it.

It is pretty incredile that the vanill api does not have a callback for when you pickup an item, I can give you that, lol.
Thats why it's the very first callback we added to repentogon, heh.

ModCallbacks.MC_POST_PICKUP_UPDATE does not do what you think it does, thats the issue. It runs on EntityPickup updates, it has nothing to do with the player picking up an item.
I'd recommend checking the docs on info of what the callbacks you use actually do instead of going by their name alone, they can be confusing sometimes.

fixed brimstone and dogma brimstone synergy, now it's working together and no more replacing brimstone laser itself without item
