Alright, if I ever touch the base ones, they'll be copies.

Yeah I think that's how it would work, though I haven't tested that yet. That said, modifying textures by others is considered bad practice.

The idea of Better Trees is that the user can just have your add-on installed passively, and then use the settings menu to choose to enable your mod pack. By modifying the default Better Trees textures instead, your mod is no longer a passive installation - ignoring the systems we created specifically for Better Trees to make it so modular.

Ultimately I cannot control what you do with your mods, but I heavily recommend against modifying the base textures, and instead I recommend you to copy the base textures to a new folder alongside your newly added alternates.

If I add a DjeeshkaBirch folder to a submod for Better Trees, would it "merge" with the DjeeshkaBirch folder in the main Better Trees mod. Like there is only one DjeeshkaBirch_MatureA in the main mod, if I make some more variant in a submod (DjeeshkaBirch_MatureB, C...) would the main mod use them too?

I don't understand this question:

"If I add their variants to my file (the MatureB MatureC...) would they apply to the main Better Trees?"

Alright, ported over the recolors that Tzverg did of Djeeshka's trees for various biomes. Those that are relevant anyways. All seems to work. Tho the lack of variety can be a bit glaring if we stare...

I have done a little warping job to as a test, and while not the cleanest of jobs, it gives just enough to lessen feeling of the copy pasting in game. And the flaws are not really visible with all of the other visual noise and wind sway.

(Only the red ones changed, fat one might need another go)

I'll warp the other trees I've ported tomorrow. Not sure if I should do it for the ones in the main package. If I add their variants to my file (the MatureB MatureC...) would they apply to the main Better Trees?

I'm not sure, you might be able to replace the blooming texture in the base folder
tanyfilina 3 Aug @ 9:12am
It's impossible? :(
Enrico  [author] 3 Aug @ 8:35am
We have no support for that custom tree state, so I think that won't work.

Also, VE Plants add blooming texture for Cherry trees. If I simply add a folder like VCE_TreeCherry/Blossomed, will it work as is?
Enrico  [author] 2 Aug @ 2:02pm
Yes, BetterTrees.TreeTextureTemplateDef is important. Polluted is not necessary. Only a mature texture is necessary, rest is optional.
tanyfilina 2 Aug @ 1:15pm
And what if I don't have "polluted" texture?

Does this part "BetterTrees.TreeTextureTemplateDef" should be kept unchanged?
