Update 21/10/2019: Updated the resource cost, as it was changed for the normal solar panel.

keen updated cost of solar panels, looks mostly to be 1/2 of previous cost for critical resources. not sure if power output is changed.

Update 29/12/2017: Fixed the 'G' menu issue.

UPDATE MAN
Woof 3 Aug, 2016 @ 4:51pm
hey i was messing with your mod and i figured out how to fix that issue of it replacing the original solar panels. the line with " <BlockPairName>SolarPanel</BlockPairName>" you need to change that name.
Chaos 25 May, 2016 @ 4:26am
The replacement happened many many (I think a few months now actually) versions ago. I noticed it a long time ago, just thought it was intentional for some reason. Its not a full replacement though, it removes the icon to get the vanilla solar panel (I know because if you add the mod with the vanilla pannels placed and/or in the hotbar, they are still vanilla, and you can put the mod panels in the hotbar too.)(unless replacements in SE are handled weird that is; I have not actually gotten around to modding the game myself, I really aught to) Best of luck, hope the debugging helps you! Love the mod, makes having solar power to augment ships and power stations so much more reasonable.

Figured you would want to know TehGoat. Likely an update made a change is my bet. Always love your mod.
TehGoat  [author] 10 May, 2016 @ 2:34am
Hmm, well, that doesn't sound like it was intended. I will have a look at it at some point.
Damadark 6 May, 2016 @ 4:47pm
I just tested in an empty world and the 5x solar does replace the original. No idea when it occured.
TehGoat  [author] 6 May, 2016 @ 6:46am
You mean the update I did in December? Or the recent Space Engineers update? They are intended to be separate, so you should to be able to build both the original one and mine in the same world. I'm pretty sure I tested that back in December.
Damadark 5 May, 2016 @ 1:06pm
TehGoat I noticed the original solar panels are being replaced with your version since the update. Isn't your solar panels supposed to be added with the original so yours is a "upgraded version"?
Snøfler 21 Mar, 2016 @ 6:36am
Is it a joke that it also has "Solar Panel" written 5 times in the name of the block in game? Won't "Solar Panel x5" or something work just fine? Besides isn't this a replacement, whats the need of a new name?
Damadark 31 Dec, 2015 @ 4:38pm
Much apreciated TehGoat. Was just looking for an alternative solar panel just now that didn't cheat in extra power vs parts cost and it's not easy. Glad that I can continue to use your great mod. Have you considered doing the same for the oxygen farms?
TehGoat  [author] 28 Dec, 2015 @ 7:10am
Update 28/12/15: Changed (reduced) the cost to reflect the changes that were done to vanilla solar panel. Added the damage effect used by the vanilla solar panel. Comfirmed this to work just fine on DX11, about which there was some confusion.
TehGoat  [author] 7 Dec, 2015 @ 8:28am
Kappa!
It doesn't work in DX11? I use the stock model and texture, so I kind of assumed it to just work. Unless something has been changed in XML somewhere, in which case I probably need to have a look.

Damadark
I will have a look at the new components too.

Shame! well lets wait and see.

Oddly enough, no
MikeCDAMMIT1990 2 Dec, 2015 @ 10:48am
im assuming this is DX11 or no?
Damadark 23 Nov, 2015 @ 4:42pm
TehGoat the mod needs a update to reflect the new parts for a solar panel.
crowbarzero 14 Aug, 2015 @ 9:23pm
Any plans on reducing the component cost along the lines of the current panels?
Damadark 24 May, 2015 @ 6:53am
I use this mod since it seems legitimate in resources to power production compared to many. My only issue is the name is ridiculously long so I rename mine to 5x denser Solar Panel so they can be seen for when damaged/missing easier.
Unsaved Changes 25 Apr, 2015 @ 3:51am
what about a solar panel which can produce the same amount of energy as a small reactor?
crowbarzero 11 Apr, 2015 @ 5:09pm
Exactly what I need
GameЯ 8 Jan, 2015 @ 2:25pm
maybe make a 1x2 or 1x3 solar panel now??
Regret and Redemption 2 Jan, 2015 @ 5:21pm
Speaking of, I read last month about some people in the states discovered the etchings on bluray discs help aborb solar energy more efficanitly, when reproduced and integrated onto panels.

@madara
It's called Solar Panel Solar Panel Solar Panel Solar Panel Solar Panel

"It even has five times the name"
wat?
Autowar 17 Dec, 2014 @ 6:46pm
multi junction solar panels are layered solar panels, and each layer is attuned to convert a specific range of light frequencies into electrical energy, which can result in conversion rates of nearly 100%, depending on how much money you put into them.
Autowar 17 Dec, 2014 @ 5:17pm
you should've called it a multi-junction solar panel
BlastedTheWubstepNeko 16 Dec, 2014 @ 10:41pm
It's amazing
