Apparently, one of this race's abilities is tagged in-game as a detrimental effect, making it so it is removed when you cleanse yourself. Someone commented on this in the addon's entry in the te4.org addon repository, but mod author hasn't responded. So, there is a forked version available there which fixes it if you want to use that instead.
