@CassieCroft, you'll need to use the_hunt instead of the longer fancy name. "The Hunt" is just the name used for the UI. Good luck!

I am having trouble getting this to work on my server. I have the mod installed and in my cluster.ini file I have this: "game_mode = The Hunt". What am I doing wrong?

I got all of requirements needed but nothing comes up, only that mod was installed. What's going on? Does this mod work at all?

Hey artemiy! I fixed up some issues with the mod, but the crash in your log seems to be related to something that the mod doesn't touch. Maybe it's related to one of the other mods you had installed?

Hello Peter, yet again!

So I managed to setup The Hunt server and have it running for a while, which was fun with added PVP for some spice :D , but it crashes apparently sometimes when player gets killed by another player (maybe more reasons).

As with PigFeed here is server setup with logs and backup logs ( I love packup logs <3 <3 <3 )

P.S. any way to make mobs spawn endlessly in cycles? (or even increase ammount of mobs spawned based on server day)

equipment drops plz and maybe after you killed the deerclops some times maybe spawn some more giants ? like beargers and stuff - deerclops is rly easy to kill compared to bearger you can just hit and run :P

I'm investigating a bug that seems to have come up from one of the recent patches causing the player's interface to get stuck when in this mode. I'll update once it's resolved.

@lifetimegamer, did you set The Hunt as the game mode when you started the server? After you enable the mod, it will show up in the list of game modes.

Maybe a modification of campfires to last much longer but can be attacked by mobs.

Example:
Day 1 = 2 spiders per players
Day 2 = 3 spiders per players, 1 hunter spider
Day 3 = 3 spiders per players, 2 hunter spiders
Day 4 = 3 spiders per players, 3 hunter spiders
Day 5 = Same as day 4 but for this day a special miniboss spider queen comes.

The only question is what kind of 'boss' monster should appear at night? It has to be big, tanky, and slow, but has a passive ability like high sanity loss to players near them.

The next gamemode should be called 'Last Stand' against the shadow creature's army.

You have pig torches to give your base infinite light source in a central area, large enough for a spawn point.

You play the gamemode like a MOBA, kill creatures and collect resources, trade resources for special items (or effects), or use them to reinforce your base.

Every dusk a wave of enemies come, increasing in numbers and types over time.

The wave comes from a pre-generated castle biome that is also filled with loot.

The enemies follow a road towards your spawn point and actually is able to damage it.

Every night that comes, a boss monster that keeps it's health as you encounter it, will come and attack, but every day the boss monster will retreat.

The question is whether you strike at your foes, or fortify the defences to hold them off for the next day.

i had all the simple provisions on my map (i created de map before install the mod), and nothing happens..do i have to make a new game for the mod works?? (all the players have A spear, log suit, honey poultice, meatballs, and a torch )

I also agree with the idea of having a set ammount of time to build, prepare , than get some time after every five to ten rounds because doing every round would be a bit boring. unless you give a handful of minutes like gears of war hoard, beast mode.

Maybe you should develop a tower defence gamemode, give the player walls to start with, a 5 minute prepare period, maybe a few traps or something, and spawn in progressively harder monsters that target whatever structure you're defending.

Would be cool if there was like 10 Minutes prepare time and then 5 minutes of spawning mobs, then again a little pause to gather stuff, like building a base with walls

I'm tempted to not include the recipe change right now, because it makes your team need to have a Wickerbottom to craft more items. A mix of Wolfgangs and Wickerbottoms works well. I think that's ideal for playing coop, but in a versus style play, I think teaching the recipes makes sense.

Some suggestions:
- global announcements informing all players who has the most kills currently like minute or so before hunt ends
- if players dies, even if he has most kills, he loses? - on/off via config?
- teach players on spawn spear and log suit reciples?

Anyway, good game mode, might become popular when dedicated server will be available for public, 10/10 would host :dshound:

Is there more information for this? Like does weapons and armor spawn at start or do you have to gather/prepare as usual? (that be insanely difficult I would think).

Are all monsters in or just the ones that chase/attack like hounds?
