I started Don't Starve right when RoG was released and have played as this glorious bastard since. It's been forever since I've played Don't Starve, but I have to say that this character is my all time favorite go-to character in the workshop. He fits so nicely into the game that I had to explain to my roommate who asked me how to unlock Devon that he's a modded character...to which he just replied "Oh, okay, so which DLC?"

His difficulty curve is nicely done and I just can't get over how exciting it is to play as this absolute mess of a character. Bless him and Birdy, and I'm so thankful you made this character for me to always come back to.

So an Extra Fact about Devon's background that I've not mentioned:
Devon is not his given name.
He took it on as a part of leaving his old identity/life behind (specifically taking on the name of an especially cool forest he liked, Daevan, which he promptly misspelled). Whatever the original name was is otherwise a closely kept secret.

Honestly this is my favorite DS character mod available. I absolutely have fallen in love with this bastard.

The single banjo twang when he has a panic attack has my friends scrambling to find homeboy his "medicine" (we keep a stock of green and blue shrooms grilled at all times for this moron) so his hallucinations don't try to slaughter us all. Birdy has easily become the party mascot everyone would die trying to retrieve if I die. They decided I'm not allowed to run on the roads because ya boye's just GONE in a couple steps and we're all laughing.

I don't know whether it's coded in or what, but the coincidence of him having a panic attack every time something even SLIGHTLY bad goes wrong is just hilarious.

Lightning nearly hit me? PANIC

He even has a panic attack as a ghost. I love this. Thank you so much for giving us this trash bin gift of a man. I LOVE him! ♥

The W thing could be resolved...

Maxwell's real name starts with a W and for Wickerbottom it's her last name. The Caitlin mod character specifically hides her W name out of paranoia.

So given Devon is "plagued by hallucinations and paranoia of the memory" I'm willing to bet his real, middle or last name begins with a W and he's just not talking.

May be an old mod but fuck I still use him, I love his dialouge and how he just screams "OH FUCK" at Deerclops. Honestly, my favorite character. I don't care for the panic attacks, it's real easy to pick 3-4 flowers and be back to normal uwu. I love his instrument voice, always spamming it around like a song. Real easy to get food too since you can get away rather quickly.

It's nice to have a speedy character that's not op at all. And I love the dialogue and general aesthetic Devon gives off as being somewhat uncaring but a little bit cheeky. Great mod!

I like it already.

I know I definitely love playing Devon. His movement speed helps me a lot with traveling the whole map and figuring out where everything is. He also gave me the chance to get really good at fighting nightmares. I agree that I've used his utility to allow me to take care of my team very efficiently, especially my friends who are newer to the game. I'm also glad to play a character who has such a detailed backstory. :)

Ik a lot of people have probably sad this character is overly weak and useless, I 100% disagree, people dont know how to utilize him, I just run around making a base for my team and making sure everyone else has food and supplies, i normally just servive of seeds till winter cause thats how little he needs to eat, him going isane at random means we have a bunch of nightmare fule, that goes well with a other chacter my friend plays.
I understand that not how people like to play, hut hey i enjoy it.
Devon is honestly my fav chacter to play as, its rare for me not to use him and i dont see myself not useing him in the future, thanks for making him op.

Was sure he will have alteast additional ranged damage but he has not. What the point of the character? Feels very weak.

Hey y'all, not dead, new update:
- FINALLY got a solution for rain and wetness sanity loss, so he will no longer take sanity damage during storms or while wet. Special thanks to Ionic who offered a solution and code for sanity loss in the rain!
- Devon's panic attacks are far less common and not friggin howl forever (and not a bug with the mod, just a bug with Devon as, like, a person. This may be updated sometime soon to only be common when at lower health, rather than at any time, I just wanna update my other mods first)
- Birdy's sprite has been updated and now has the Extremely Important addition of making a crow sound when you put her on/take her off. Take her off/on real fast and enjoy annoying the crap out of your friends with constant crow noises! CAWCAWCAWCAWCAW!

It's a bug, though. He wasn't like this before. I played with this mod for years and the random insanity attacks are a more recent thing.Sometimes his bird doesn't recover his sanity as intended, either.

It makes sense to make him insane pretty much all the time, he's so fast that one can be insanely productive. having panic attacks make for a buffer in which devon has to work around. Pretty good!
