Hi, excuse me, I'm working on an expansive Cadence of Hyrule based mod, and I was wondering if I could use some of your assets as a base, provided I give credit to you in both the changelog/readme and the eventual mod page. Specifically, I'm interested in using the rupees, and possibly the heart containers.

Hey Dargus! I'm sorry it crashed on you. That also happened to some others in the past and they were able to fix it. If you have a look at some of the early comments on this page you might be able to find a fix for your problem.
Also, a DBZ mod sounds awesome, but I'm not very familiar with it, so I wouldn't be able to make anything good :P
Dargus 11 May, 2015 @ 6:32pm
hey mod developer this is a good mod but 2 things 1 it crashes after 2 minutes of play time 2 you should make a dbz mod

Are you going to update the link sprite... There's a Link Mod that has all the links from 4 Sword... The mod is just called ( Link )
Little Hats  [author] 25 Jan, 2015 @ 1:47pm
Fushimelon was able to fix this using photoshop (you can see their comment a bit further back, explaining how they fixed it).

You could also always just try uninstalling and reinstalling the mod to see if that works.

And I would love to change the bosses, but that will probably be the last thing I do in the mod (if I even ever do it) :)
AnnumVeritas 24 Jan, 2015 @ 10:46am
Also, when i try to enable the mod, it crashes my game. I'm using a mac. Any suggestions?
AnnumVeritas 24 Jan, 2015 @ 10:40am
What about changing the bosses to different zelda bosses? :D
Little Hats  [author] 23 Jan, 2015 @ 9:40am
Wow!
This is some awesome feedback guys!
I'm gonna change the rupees in the next update!!

Thanks Fatal Framerate and fushimelon.
Seriously, these discussions really help me know what's good and what needs improving! :D
fushimelon 23 Jan, 2015 @ 9:27am
I agree with Fatal Framerate's suggestion re: rupees. Actually, I was wondering why the rupees weren't just different colors to signify different amounts of coins (green for a small pile, blue for a medium amount, red for a lot, etc.). Not that they'd have to match the exact amounts or anything.
Little Hats  [author] 23 Jan, 2015 @ 9:25am
I did think about doing different coloured big rupees...
Hmm... maybe I should do that and see what it looks like.
FatalFramerate 22 Jan, 2015 @ 5:54pm
What about one big Rupee?
Little Hats  [author] 22 Jan, 2015 @ 12:07pm
That's a good idea Fatal Framerate!!
I might just do that :)

Yeah, of all of the sprites I've done so far, the rupees are the ones I want to update the most!
It's unfortunate that they have to be on such a small scale when they're dropped by enemies.
FatalFramerate 22 Jan, 2015 @ 2:58am
Link's sprite looks incredible, the Rupies kinda need work. Should publish one with just the skin so you can use it on the leaderboards! Good stuff though, upvoted.

I know some crashes can be caused by necrodancer.xml not lining up with the most current version. This was causing trouble for my mod but after checking the code it was fixed. Might be worth a shot! :closetgamer:
Little Hats  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 2:38pm
Awesome!!
Nice job Fushimelon!!

I'll have a look at the files you listed to see if they have some wierd property differences to try and stop it from happening again.

Once again, nice work on finding and fixing the problem! :D
fushimelon 21 Jan, 2015 @ 2:21pm
Ah, nope, still crashes. I think I figured out what's happening, though. According to the logs, the game is crashing because it's returning null when trying to load the player1_heads.png image from Steam/SteamApps/common/Crypt of the Necrodancer/mods/Play as Link/entities/player1_heads.png path. Everything seems to be spelled and placed correctly, so I can't imagine why that is. Gonna look into that.

EDIT: HERE'S THE FIX.

So I don't know why, but I guess some of these files weren't being recognized as "proper" pngs. I opened each rejected image from the logs in Photoshop and saved them over the exact same .png file, without making any changes. Not all files are affected—so far I've resaved the player1_heads, all 3 heart images, the rupee, and the armor_chainmail. There might be others, but this fixed it for me (I removed the items folder temporarily to see if the mod would load with just the changes I made, and it did).

Looks great! Thanks for the help and keep up the good work!!
Little Hats  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 10:57am
Hmm...
Seeing as the only two things that change in this mod are sprites and the text displayed above some of the items, if I had to guess, I would say it's the latter that could be causing the trouble.

Maybe you could try deleting the mod's necrodancer.xml file
- To find this, navigate to Steam/SteamApps/common/Crypt of the Necrodancer/mods/Play as Link/
and a XML file called necrodancer should be there.
- If you delete that file, the mod should revert to using Crypt of the Necrodancer's original XML file, whilst keeping the changed sprites.

This is just a guess and could have absolutely nothing to do with the problem, but by all means, give it a go :)
fushimelon 21 Jan, 2015 @ 9:19am
This looks awesome, but my game immediately crashes whenever I attempt to load the mod. Not sure if this has something to do with the fact that I'm running the Mac version of this game...? Has anybody else had/been able to fix this problem?
Relaques 21 Jan, 2015 @ 2:26am
I knew that was coming

No problem Maite159!
Ray Deviljho 20 Jan, 2015 @ 8:55am
Thx
Little Hats  [author] 20 Jan, 2015 @ 8:14am
All you need to do is click the subscribe button, then open up Crypt of the Necrodancer, pause the game, select mods, play a mod, and 'Play as Link' should be there.
Ray Deviljho 20 Jan, 2015 @ 7:13am
Just asking, cause I'm kinda new on steam, but how do I dowload it?
Little Hats  [author] 18 Jan, 2015 @ 10:10am
That would be awesome!
Although, I was thinking ChuChus would be better suited for the slimes :)
But yeah, Dodongos would be perfect as the dragons!!
Kaibun 18 Jan, 2015 @ 7:23am
Maybe you could change the zombies into re-deads, the slimes into like-likes and the dragons into dodongos. Something like that.
Foxxy 18 Jan, 2015 @ 6:59am
thanks ! this is so funny ! nice idea !!
Little Hats  [author] 18 Jan, 2015 @ 6:33am
Thank you Kaibun.

Changing the enemies would be pretty darn cool!
At the moment, I'm mainly concentrating on the items, but once they're done, I plan to change the NPCs and the enemies.
It could take a while, but hopefully I'll be able to do it at some point! :D
Kaibun 18 Jan, 2015 @ 6:10am
This amazing. You should try changing the enemies too, that would be pretty cool.
Little Hats  [author] 18 Jan, 2015 @ 3:02am
That's an awesome idea Zemik!!

And I'm sorry, Saxdog8, but I'm by no means a programmer, so I would have no idea what is causing your game to crash. This mod only changes sprites and doesn't really alter the game in any big way, so I wouldn't know what reason there is for the game to crash.
saxdog8 17 Jan, 2015 @ 9:48pm
every time i try to use this mod it Crashes my game is there a reason to this
Marcus 17 Jan, 2015 @ 5:08pm
Because both can't be on, I copied over the voice files from the other Link mod because this one looks better. Cadence's voice does not work well with Link.
Little Hats  [author] 17 Jan, 2015 @ 4:40am
Thank you for your support 'Je suis Domosaur',
and yes, you're right, it is disappointing that it doesn't save high scores and achievements.

It's because I've edited the file which (to put it simply) tells the game what to do.

When this file is edited, the game disables high scores and achievements as (even though I just changed the names of items) I could have made the mod game-breakingly easy, allowing the player to get achievement and the highest score in one button press.

...At least I think that's why :P
aiKaiz 16 Jan, 2015 @ 7:45pm
Dermil, just Subscribe to it, then download your Workshop Files (it should automatically be in your Downlaods section or automatically downloaded), then in-game, go to your Menu and go into Mods!

-> - Ocaraina of Time

Amazing mod! Link seems to be a very popular character choice, but adding in the weapons and other objects is a really nice touch! I'll be using this one quite often when I'm just playing normal mode. It's a shame that it can't save the High Scores or Achievement Unlocks!
ttvDermil 16 Jan, 2015 @ 6:18pm
So, uhm, how do I use mods in this game?
Little Hats  [author] 16 Jan, 2015 @ 5:44am
Thank you very much!
Marme_Lad 16 Jan, 2015 @ 5:41am
This is probably my favorite mod on the workshop, The quality is good and really brings something new to the table. Most of the LoZ mods out there are just ripped from the games but this seems to be your own sprites.
Little Hats  [author] 16 Jan, 2015 @ 4:55am
STILL MAKE IT!!!
Don't let me stop you!!

Thanks for the praise though!
Gaura 16 Jan, 2015 @ 4:40am
oh my god, what? noooo! i was making a LoZ mod, and decided to check the workshop, and now, i have realised that you beat me to it :c

Well, anyway, you seem to have done it much better than i have, so i congratulate you on the awesome idea and sprite work :3
Jabr 13 Jan, 2015 @ 4:13pm
Good stuff.
