Recipe Rebalancer

Love this mod. There's some erroneous preview information though when you cook something in the crock pot using the "Craft Pot" mod when Recipe Rebalancer is in use. I checked with that mod author and he thinks the food values in Recipe Rebalancer are being initialized too late (ie after Craft Pot), while they need to be initialized earlier so that Craft Pot reads the values correctly. Not sure if this mod is being maintained, but that'd be a super helpful fix if that's doable.

Also it's uncompatible with "Show bundle"
Nano 1 Apr, 2023 @ 8:12am
I have been testing for incompatibilities. So far I have found that this mod is incompatible with "Automatic Sorter" and "Crock Pot". The second one that does have to do with food recipes is a client mod.
Nano 28 Mar, 2023 @ 2:37pm
yeah I founded it was "Fast Cook pot" that was conlicting with ur mod :b
Nano 27 Mar, 2023 @ 7:00pm
juhmmmm, u kinda right. Imma check
Terotrous  [author] 27 Mar, 2023 @ 6:44am
I just tested it and it still seems to be working fine as of the last update, you may be using another mod that conflicts with it (probably something else that updates the recipe table)
Nano 27 Mar, 2023 @ 1:43am
Hey, I'm testing ur mod and it's not workin, meatballs fill 57 hunger and kebads do provides heats over time :u

Great thanks.
I play some time with this mod, and looks balanced. But I play for Warly and that will PAINFULL balance...xD
Hate him passive starvation drain.

But again I thank you for your job.
Terotrous  [author] 6 Dec, 2022 @ 12:36am
Thanks for the bug report. I pushed through an update and it should start again. You can also now find recipe cards and they have the correct recipes for this mod. The latest patch includes new cooking items, which I have included, but they are untouched.

As for favourite foods, simply toggling this is probably not possible due to the complex logic involved, but if you want to get rid of that logic, you can modify your local copy of the mod.

The first thing you need to do is find the folder for this mod, which is under your steam folder \workshop\content\322330\378272573

Then go to the scripts folder, and delete the "components" subfolder.

Mod does not working on actuaaly version.
I liked idea what bring changes from this work, but leave a one request: do "favourite food" is switchable in mods menu.
I like the favorite dishes that the characters have in the original game, each one has a story behind it, each one has a character's lore behind it. Change the numbers and characteristics of food? Thank you. Add another bonus for "favorite food" - I will also accept. But in no case, I ask you, do not change the favorite dishes of the characters themselves. They are not needed for survival, they are just... preferences related to the lives of our heroes. Yes, Maxwell's dish is the most expensive in the game, and Wes pancakes are useless for him, but do not touch, do not rummage through the minds of sufferers who are already forced to suffer from obesity in this cruel world of meatballs.

As a Wurt main, I deeply enjoy that meat is less kingly with this mod, and that she gets a somewhat easier-to-acquire favourite food.
Karendrae 3 Apr, 2021 @ 2:13pm
Thank you! This made the game far more enjoyable for me.

Terotrous  [author] 15 Mar, 2019 @ 9:40am
Sure, go nuts. I always knew it would be necessary to further customize these values if you wanted to bring custom food items into balance.
Terra B Welch 15 Mar, 2019 @ 1:14am
Man I make a modified version of this mod with my own rebalanced values? I want to make a version that encourages waiter 101 further. I want to shuffle around some of these rebalanced recipes I feel may be a little too prioritized over some others.
Dorito_tRF 8 Dec, 2018 @ 11:49pm
yeah it needs to be added on server setup, it cant be added to an already made server like alot of other mods, might be helpful to add that in the description
Terotrous  [author] 5 Dec, 2018 @ 7:13pm
It works fine with most custom characters (I use it with a number of them), but it will probably have conflicts with any character who has their own special food item, as a few do.
Dorito_tRF 5 Dec, 2018 @ 7:10pm
all the food items in my server are unchanged, as far as i know i dont use anything else that changes foods at all, does it have to be added on server setup or is part way through fine, or maybe does it not work on custom characters, i dont really know
fudge_muffin 23 Mar, 2018 @ 6:20pm
I've been playing Don't Starve for a while and noticed that meatballs are just too good and a lot of other foods aren't worth it at all.
Does this mod seem balanced from your experience?
Terra B Welch 4 Feb, 2018 @ 7:09pm
As of the priority update to the mod, the recipes all work as intended.

Imo Recipe Rebalancer and Waiter 101 go hand in hand, as the rebalanced food items in this mod makes some crockpot recipes still very much worth using, but at the same time it also encourages delving into waiter 101's recipes as opposed to just pigging out on meatballs 24/7.

I have to give a big thanks to the both of you for taking the time to make them work together. :)
Midrealm 4 Feb, 2018 @ 6:29pm
Well cool -
I tried messing with the priorities, but kept trying to make yours load second, didnt occur to me to reverse the order. Sorry about the troubles, but Im glad its working .
re: banana bread, it (currently) requires = Banana + Egg + Vegetable + filler
Berries are tagged as fruit, so that is correct that it wouldnt work.
Terotrous  [author] 4 Feb, 2018 @ 2:10pm
I believe I've solved it. The priority tag was indeed the solution, but it's actually necessary for your mod to load after mine, not the reverse. It looks like one of your scripts does something where it puts the original recipes into a separate list or something and if my recipes aren't there yet they don't get picked up, or something to that effect.

I also tested to make sure my mod doesn't break your recipes, and I don't think it does, though I was having trouble getting a couple of them to create. For example, when I tried to make banana bread with Banana, Egg, Berry, Berry (which I believe should be a valid recipe), I get mushy eggs. I was able to make candied nuts with honey, cooked birchnut * 3 though, so maybe I'm just not understanding your recipe system fully.
Midrealm 4 Feb, 2018 @ 7:54am
@Terotrous
Hello - Author of Waiter-101 here,
I thought the priority tag (modinfo) would determine order in which the mods are applied, but that may not be case in DST.

Anyway - any thoughts on how to prevent reloading the crockpot recipes from the base game.
as I didnt intend for that to happen.
Terotrous  [author] 25 Jan, 2018 @ 7:32am
It's actually the other mod that would have to change, since it's reloading the crockpot recipes from the base game. If there was some way to specify the order the mods load in, having my mod load second would work, but as far as I know there's no way to control this.

In any case, I'm not sure if the mods would really make sense together, since my mod doesn't change their recipes and they seem to be balanced around the values from the base game, so it would probably just make the base recipes not worth using. If you find that meatballs breaks Waiter 101's balance, you might ask there to see if they'll add some config option that lets you weaken them or something.
Terra B Welch 25 Jan, 2018 @ 3:19am
Alright, I figured it was waiter 101, if you do figure it out, any chance for some kind of compatibility?
Terotrous  [author] 24 Jan, 2018 @ 10:57pm
I can confirm that mod does indeed reload the default recipes (thus reverting all of my changes), though despite looking through the code for quite a while I can't quite figure out where it does it. It's a fairly complex mod, someone more skilled at this than I am would probably have to figure it out.
Terra B Welch 23 Jan, 2018 @ 4:57pm
hmmm does waiter 101 change values of vanilla crockpot foods? Cause other then that mod I don't see what mod would conflict with this.

Cause I don't see any changes to the vanilla crockpot foods, the changes to berries, carrots, cactus flesh, etc. are working just not the crockpot food changes.
Terotrous  [author] 23 Jan, 2018 @ 4:02pm
Juicy Berry Bushes should now work.

As for not seeing rebalanced food values, it's likely that you're using another mod that conflicts with this one. All food values in DS are stored in one file, so if you have any other mods that add new foods or alter their values there'll be conflicts.
EmoChipmunk 4 Jan, 2018 @ 10:21am
heya, 1st of all love your mod, but i notice that when the juicy berry bushes wont drop juicy berries after using this mod
Terra B Welch 17 Dec, 2017 @ 5:24am
meatballs are still restoring 62.5 hunger for me even with this mod enabled.
Ronin 24 Aug, 2017 @ 7:14am
but regardless, good mod! Starving is always a threat for people who multitask a lot. If you're only focused on not starving then it's never an issue.. but if say you're trying to farm items, build new base expansions, hunting special creatures, managing sanity, etc then hunger can easily be overlooked in cases ^^
Ronin 24 Aug, 2017 @ 7:13am
fruit medley ain't bad, it cools you off! And kebabs not only let you use a twig as filler, but lasts longer

Terotrous  [author] 21 Feb, 2017 @ 10:57pm
It'd be hard to do through a customization setting, but if you know how to find the mod folder you could just delete the beefalo.lua and koalafant.lua files inside the prefab folder.

I do kind of wish there was a cleaner way to alter their drop table without including those prefabs (those are also the scripts that break when they update the game like 95% of the time), but I haven't seen it.
A Pikachu 21 Feb, 2017 @ 10:48pm
Might there be any way to configure this to only have the recipe changes, and no changes to foraging and hunting? I came looking for something to address the whole Meatball thing but I feel those overstep the mod's bounds and mess with things a recipe balancer has no business touching.
Epishade 3 Feb, 2017 @ 6:12pm
Awesome! Thanks for the quick response.
Terotrous  [author] 2 Feb, 2017 @ 6:24pm
It should be fixed now. Please try updating the mod and loading your server again.
Epishade 2 Feb, 2017 @ 12:50pm
Hey, I'd love to try this mod out with a friend, but whenever I start a game with it (and only it) on, the game freezes upon entering. Is there any way to fix this? I haven't played the mod before, but it looks really interesting and I assume makes this easy game harder and more fun.
Terotrous  [author] 11 Nov, 2016 @ 11:07am
The balancing is generally based around what other things you could be getting with those resources. Since you can make a honey ham with 1 honey, using 3 to create Taffy is quite a lot. Sure the bee box theoretically generates a fair bit but it doesn't operate in the winter, where honey ham becomes a fantastic item.

I also disagree about the fish tacos. Corn and Fish are both moderately uncommon items, it shouldn't be a worthless food item. And Fishsticks is still good, health is just a bit harder to come by in general.

Of course, if you would prefer totally different values it's not hard to open up the mod and set your own values for the various foods.
Shark 11 Nov, 2016 @ 8:51am
Some of the points here seem a LITTLE overpowered. Taffy with 50 sanity? Look buddy, when you get a bee box up then BOOM you have about 6 honey PER day
The only sanity item that restores that much sanity is ICE CREAM, which is rare and thats why It heals 50 Sanity
Also, the fishsticks shouldn't be nerfed, its the noobs food for health, If you are starting out and you got some fish and twigs and a crockpot then boom! 40 HP with no troubles, most of the time it requires much more time just to get that sort of healing.
Buffed Fish Tacos? Look, Fish tacos are good dont get me wrong, but the Don't Starve wiki even said that "Players may make this recipe because they used corn as a filler even though they didn't mean to"

Change those two things, thanks.
junestrings 22 May, 2016 @ 11:55am
Thank you! that was very quick
Terotrous  [author] 20 May, 2016 @ 11:32pm
Should be fixed now.
junestrings 20 May, 2016 @ 2:21am
I did some testing and it turns out it's due to changes in the Beefalo script! probably related to the new beefalo taming.
junestrings 20 May, 2016 @ 2:14am
Hey it looks like this mod isnt working in the latest build? This is one of my favorite mods so I'd be ecstatic to hear if you could get it working again
Stargazer Sage 7 Mar, 2016 @ 11:29am
THEN DONT USE THIS MOD >:c
