how does the trireme's gold from being near trade routes work? I can't find reference to it in the mod's code or see any income ingame

Compatibility issue with Uncivilized mod where the civ starts at Agriculture rather than the mod's starting tech.

Does the library science bonus affect outgoing trade routes as well or only incoming?

@ Narrelama same here. I'm using DX9, and I'm only getting a shadow unless the boat is facing a particualr direction.

Doesn't having to pay trireme maintenance outweigh 2 gold for being near a target trade route so it's like less of a penalty so that you can defend your trade routes in a cost effective way? Rather than an actual cash gain.

Have to make a complaint here about historical accuracy. The minoans did not, in fact, use pillars. Pillars are a greek thing from maybe 2 or 3 centuries after, but the minoans never had them. It's a popular misconception from the "archeology" of the time ruins were discovered. Archeology was a new thing then and often more Indiana Jones than a real science. Today we are a lot more careful about our assumptions. Regardless, the Minoans most certainly didn't have those red pillars we keep seing in this mod and elswhere and I'd really appreciate if you could use different, more accurate, images.

In my game their unique boat thingy didn't work - the graphics were fucked. Luckily I played them, so I could just avoid the unit. Any dependencies not listed?

@Nono: The minoans didn't share many cultural similarties with Egyptians, so they were not likely Egyptian colonists. The had they're own unique culture and influenced the Greek penninsula's culture and language heavily. Just because they traded with Egypt (and everywhere else) and were very advanced isn't reason enough to suggest they were Egyptian colonists.

The Flagmaster, the first civilization was found in Sumer. If anything they were Sumerian colonists.

Nono , technically everyone is an Egyptian colonist because Egypt was the first civilization and all prehistoric hummans had to go through Egypt to get to the fertile crescent, the indus river valley, china, and the caucuses

Hmm, I've found that the free golden age upon founding your first coastal city is probably just as much a bad thing as it is a good thing. Because of their uniques, this civ is best played on island maps. However, that means that you immediately get a golden age. Which winds up being a waste of a golden age. Because they don't have enough culture to get it modified, and usually won't be working any gold-producing tiles yet. Plus, they have so little production at the start of the game that the bonus just winds up being +1. So you barely get any benefits at all from that first golden age, and it just makes the next golden age more expensive to get. So to make the UA balanced (it's currently definitely underpowered), you'd have to either give a golden age every time you found a coastal city, or do something to the other parts of the UA, like making it so that your trade routes go up by every time you get a golden age. The rest of the civ is spot-on though.

Generally black screen is if you try to print screen instead of using the ingame screenshot function (usually F12)

I had to do it through my phone b/c for some reason when I pasted the photo to my desktop it was just a black rectangle and not the photo. Also when I went back into the game to take the new photo, the original glitch occurred again. I'll try to post it in the More Civ CFC topic as well.

Alright, so I managed to find which mods I had been playing with and relaunched the save. Now instead of the graphical glitch, the Minoan trireme doesn't show up (the icon does, but not the actual ship). I took a picture of it this time if there's anyway I can send it to you.

I meant that I haven't found any of their cities or land units, just two of their triremes. It gave me the introduction screen for the Minoans, then the graphical glitch occurred.

I haven't discovered their Civ yet, just two Minoan ships, and no other modded civs have glitched.

Is it all Minoan ships or just their UU? And does it happen with other modded civs with naval UUs (eg. Kilwa)?

When I'm in view of a Minoan unit, the water and the units on the water are replaced by... best way to describe it is that different colored lines (mostly brown) take up the screen, but once I'm out of view of the Minoan unit the glitch ceases to continue unless a Minoan unit is back in view. I tried ignoring it for awhile until a Minoan ship came to my part of the world, so I wasn't able to do much then.

My rig consists of 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 660 TIX (if I recall, may be 670 TXI or just 660), Windows 7 OS. And I have plenty of memory (not sure how much is left, but I have a 2TB hardrive).

Bug Alert (for the creator): Once I met the Minoan AI in my game, I experienced a graphical glitch. Tried relaunching the game a few times and same thing. I can't play that game anymore because I can't see what I'm doing. It may be a good idea to look into what's exactly causing this glitch.

I feel that civ fulfill the fantasy of an ancient and coastal civilization, with trade routes and sea adventures and studies on science. I Liked the Civ Bonuses. Not all civilization is about balance, but that civ seems to be not over powered. The Bonuses are great at early game and becomes progressively less strong in comparison to other bonuses unlocked during the game.
The Library seems to be too strong, but is ok. I agree with Tog, as some of the happiness of the library could be unlocked after doing something else. But no worries, Anaktora is ok the way it is. The Galea is usefull for trolling players after a peace treaty is made, by overfilling their coast with units not leaving room for ships coming out their cities.

Well I dont know if its possible but It would feel more right if the Golden age bonus where given when founding the Second coastal city... by them you would have SAME civilization to florish and it would show that your civilization is going for for the sea.
I am not talking about balance here it might be overpowered, maybe the shorter range trade bonus would balance it out ?

I really like them so far. I agree about the initial Golden age thing maybe needs some tweaking. I don't find the 50% range on cargo too strong at all, as I started in a fairly isolated positon.

The theme music is awesome, and the E&D's for them are excellant. Thanks guys, thumbs up on this one!

@Julius Caesar XIV - You can build the Labyrinth, but you must have the Events & Desicions mod. I fully recommend it, its a must have mod as far as I'm concerned.

When you normally found a city turn 1, your first golden age needs 500 GA points (on standard speed, standard size map, which I play). In the Minoan game I played, I started on the coast, plopped down the city, and a golden age started. 12 turns later, when it ended, the golden age meter said it needed 750 GA points for the next golden age.

The first half of the UA is garbage. If you start on the coast you get a Golden Age for the first 12 turns, when it does next to nothing. Maybe make it first NON-CAPITAL coastal city?

More possible word spelling variants means more flexibility! I'm not a native speaker so I mix both variants of English in my speech. I like "colour" better while prefering "civilization".

Excuse me if I come across rude but what is Queen's English, and the only people that speak English that don't put U in colour and do put a Z in Civilisation are the Americans, Every other person who speaks English would use a U for Colour and an S for civilisation, And the reason this is because the Americans decided that they'd change their English into a more American English way back in the 1800s I think. :legitimacy:
