I entirely understand. Making these maps is just a fun easy way to let off some steam while making larger, vastly more complicated, projects. These simplistic textures allow me a bit more freedom to just be blocky and undetailed whle stll having fun and not worrying about it looking terrible.

Dont get me wrong, I loved Half-Life and a lot of GoldSrc games and all, but compared to HL2 and literally every other Source Engine game, it has not aged well at all, and seeing HL1/GoldSrc era textures in Source feels weird to me. Its a nice port though, I'll give you that.

Oh, I think I forgot this: The HL1 "desert night" sky is not in HL:S, It has to be ported from HL1.

Check inside the game folders for the skybox names. The valve dev wiki list is incomplete.

Believe me, I tried. But it seems like the skyboxes may be hardcoded into HLS, as the skybox materials I had in my editor did not correspond to the ones on the Valve Developer Wiki.
