Dont know if its a bug or if you have done it like that, but the map doesnt have city-states right?
I like the map, having coast tiles instead of rivers is really nice and it improves sea battles/trade-routes so you can have different play styles.

If you dont mind im going to use your map for two scenarios:
-had city-states to the map (based on [SSU]yenyang map), and change the settings a bit (improve difficult from Prince to King, had barbarians, since Saruman UA needs them :P, etc.)
-for another scenario ill use the above plus ill have more cities, units, etc so you dont start from 0. Dont know yet if im going to kick Azog out of the map, ill think about it while I create the scenario (i have a scenario like this but for a standart Middle Earth but I dont remember who is the owner :/ ill use it as a Guide for my scenario)

So.... The Middle Earth Civilizations mod has TSL in this? Can i still use other Civs too?

As a huge Tolkien fanatic, I love the idea of this mod, and based off the pictures it is the most accurate, but I cannot seems to get this to load or run properly. Would you be able to help with this?

Q: Whilst using this map with the LOTR CIVS you can load as a scenario to use correct starting positions. However, this scenario also disables city states and there seems to be no barbarians either? Is there anyway to override this?

Side note: Im using LOTR city states, barbarians and wonders as well

I have done everything you said I need to do and the map will still not load. I'm running this with several other LOTR mods like MEC and MEB but not it will not even let me load another LOTR map. Any clue as to what I can do to solve this? I just want proper starting positions

To make the map work just search for it by name or find it in mods folder, copy it to maps folder.

@BoogieMan Which version of Middle Earth Only are you using?

Removing the mod that removes Firaxis Civs, and resaving the scenario under a different name fixed it for me.

The map looks great, but every time I try to load the scenario(through mods, with the ones listed above) it crashes when I click the launch the game. If I load it up otherwise, it works fine but the start positions are all screwed up.

Also, when I click the load scenario button there are no factions to choose from, only random. I loaded it up in world builder and pre set the teams how I wanted, and saved it under another name and it then lets me select a civ, but it still crashes on load.

I think if you load it through mods it should show up as well.

lol I fixed the other problem and now, it crashes my game to desktop when i load it. If someone knows what to search in google could they please tell me

where is the map? i cant find it in the list and when i load up a map it is whatever other type i had selected please help i really want to play this

Thanks for doing this man. People like you who work theiir butts off on incredibly meticulous projects such as this are all too rare, and I greatly appreciate that you made this. I'm not really a map downloader, but I am a fan of people who can do what you did with this map and sticking to lore, etc. Great job!

how do you use this with mac

@Aldin It's true I didn't add any late game resources, because I was intending to play this map using only the middle earth civs like you said not going beyond the medieval age. I would find it odd otherwise, but that's just me. I was never planning to add this to steam but I decided this would be my first upload and followed up by uploading maps I previously made. All were just for my own games was never really planning on sharing i'm completely new at this otherwise. If you liked this map you may like my first world, it has all resources and i've played over 1000 turns on it.

For anyone still struggling to find the map, it's downloaded to "\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS". You need to move the "Middle Earth True Detail Huge (v 1)" folder to "\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\maps".

Just completed a culture victory on this map and am kind of glad I went that route. I'm quite suprised that on this map there is not a single source of oil, coal, aluminum, or uranium. It almost seems impossible to complete a domination victory on this map without using a mod like "Era's Medieval Age" because there are simply no late game strategic resources.

That being said though, this map is huge, detailed, and wonderful to play on. I had a great time taking control of most of Rhun and culturally dominating everyone. I can honestly recommend this map to anyone who loves to play a slowly paced game :)

@Chadowz I was on google trying to figure this out for an hour, I just didn't understand that you had to go through My Games instead of Steam Apps, Jesus Christ, can you try and NOT be a douche, ya? It was a simple question.

Any chance you'd be interested in making a map of the full planet of Arda (of which Middle Earth is part)?

Well done on the map, While playing i have noticed that the ranks the units earn seem to have no effect ie the explorer when earned enough xp get the +2 sight or heal 5hp each turn. neither one of them worked as they should do.

If you update your mod to add an EntryPoint for the map, it will show up in the list of maps automatically. Then it's no longer necessary to manually copy the map into the maps directory.

Once you find the mod you downloaded, the map will be situated inside that folder, and you will be able to copy that file and paste it into the folder that contains all of your maps that you see available in your maps list. If you don't know how to find it, well...

All of your downloaded mods will be situated in your mods folder, if you don't know where that is whether you are on a MAC, PC, LINUX whatever just search "steam mod archive civ 5" and you will be able to find information on how to find them. I'm just a gamer like the rest of you don't ask me how to make it work.

Thanks for trying to do a simple search and make us work for you though. documents my games sid meirs civ 5 MODS middle earth true huge detail the map is IN THAT FOLDER. if it doesn't work that's why. I just learned this now in 2 minutes by searching what the other guy said about mods folder. again thanks for trying. pat on the back. Transfer that map to your maps folder and it will work. Sorry to be an Ahole just had a few beers and you didn't even try, now i'm buzzed and i figured it out just like that.

I'm having trouble getting this to work. The map isn't located in the actual in-game map selector and the comments below telling us to find it in the 'mod archive' are way too general to be of any help. I can't locate this thing in Civ 5's files on my drive, let alone the mods folder. Help?
