Had to use the search in Windows Explorer, searching for "kad*.tga" revealed the examples hiding in "C:\Game Files\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\244160\403557412"

Check out the linked topic - the workshop downloads go someplace else on your machine. The 'mod' ones are moved to the right place by the launcher - but these loose file examples don't get that, they just live where Steam put them.

The specified folder for the examples is missing from my machine, I would expect it to be here:
"C:\Game Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\GBXTools"

Is subscribing to this not enough?
