Hello I was wondering if you could post the link to your Trident Shipyard 3d Printer? I am having a bit of trouble trying to build an automated ship yard for my automated fleet.

Seperation thruster issue persists on this version still yeah, although have an updated and longer version up now that's setup a bit differently in that respect. There should be a group on each module but some combinations of build make that group disappear and I'm yet to work out why it's doing that.

@Granjor: Any issues with the merge block detaching will be ownership related, shouldn't have any issues if the ownership is left on 'nobody'

Neat idea! Lately I've been looking into automated "ship factories" myself, and this is one of the most streamlined set-ups I've seen so far. But I have to wonder whether or not it would work as well in perfectly in survival mode... In the very least, it seems like one would have to load up the ship with fuel before cutting it away from the pistons, to keep it from drifting unpowered the moment something bumps into it.

interesting, did you fix the separation thruster issue?

I noticed in your video that yes you got the name of the group wrong but when you checked the built ship their was no thruster group.

you may have to make the group for thrusters on each individual module that has thrusters rather than on the cockpit alone, you may be losing the grouping when the modules are built but if they all have the same groups they may merge together on the built ship.

for some reason the morge block on the engine module wont connect and it just floats in space before the first stage completes

Really nice idea. Do you plan to extend your system to add wings, nacelles and interior compartments (like quarters, medbay etc.)

You are a genious.

Could you use a rotator to rotate the ship out of the construction platform before you release it?

Believe this should be fixed ownership now, someone please let me know!

@Wootton boy MM: Check the bottom section of the sensors and make sure it's set to 'Enemy' only.. Neutral recognition at the moment seems broken and will pick up stuff that should be considered friendly. If that's not it then sounds like something on the turret itself isn't owned by you, but I'd suspec the first bit.

Sorry about this but this is a question relating to another one of your builds. I had a look at your Phalanx Auto Defense Turret w/ 1km tracking and managed to build a smaller version for a possible ship defence system however when ever i set it as i'm the owner and that the sensors should only pick up small craft it starts to detect itself and aim downwards meaning any other small craft that fly past are ignored i was just wondering if you had any ideas of how to fix this issue and if you would let me know about a way to fix it i would be most appreciative.

Can you add a drone section? I'm no good at the timers and programing. Also a frame so we can build are own parts?
w4stedspace  [author] 8 Mar, 2015 @ 6:18pm
The blueprints won't be though as they are pre-loaded by me.. try setting the ownership of everything to nobody and then with the merge block on trying to build.

If that doesn't work you'll need to make you're own blueprints of each module having changed their ownership to 'Me' also so they match up, then load them into the projectors.. Fiddly I know, sorry... but merge blocks will only connect if both parts have the same ownership and blueprints hold ownership settings, so the ones that are loaded in that save are owned by nobody currently.
VOID WALKER 8 Mar, 2015 @ 6:06am
I checked the ownership and it is all "owned" by me. What may be the problem is that the merge block connects to print the merge block then disconnects. I tested this by turning off the merge block and it would not print.
w4stedspace  [author] 7 Mar, 2015 @ 6:59pm
Yeah, which is normally caused by the ownership settings of either the merge block from the blueprint, or the merge block on the piston. If they are not the same ownership then they will not connect up.. I did a reset ownership before uploading so everything should be owned by nobody but maybe some more indepth setup is going to be needed for people to get it to work..

Anyone else who's trying it having this issue? Very hard for me to test as my local copy is owned by me ofc.
VOID WALKER 7 Mar, 2015 @ 5:34pm
What happens is it prints the merge block that the promptly falls off, which in turn is not there for everything else to be connected to. What I am saying is that the merge block desconnects as soon as it is printed.
w4stedspace  [author] 7 Mar, 2015 @ 5:21pm
If it's disconnecting sounds like an ownership issue.. make sure everything is set to owned by no-body until you've printed it (or you have to make all the blueprints ownership set to you which is a bit of a mission!)
VOID WALKER 7 Mar, 2015 @ 5:11pm
I may have found the problem. The merge block is disconnecting from the hologram merge block. Hope this helps.

The welders will connect to the projector arm on my world. Please fix or explain, love the concept.
