I'm in this city often enough going to the VA that it's weird to see the map on Skylines. Great job!

the highways in this map are complete trash, be prepaired to redo all highways and railways

Not too far from where I live (jacksonville nc)
I'm not skilled enough to do my hometown though... maybe later.

By far my favorite map to play on. The map allows for expansion, but you must be mindful of where roads can and cannot connect due to the terrain. It leads to some pretty unique and fun to build cities. My only problem with it is that while it does have airplane paths, there are really no good places to place an airport (especially custom modular ones). I edited the map file myself to alter the airplane paths and smooth out a plateau for planes to land. Also be forewarned that there are no ship paths in this map.

I was driving through this town not 6 hours ago as of this commenting. Didn't even know it was existed, only to find out it's the most popular, realistic, USA location map on the Steam Workshop.

I would love to see the triad area. More speccifically, Greensboro.

I just drove through here so this seems serendipitous.

I love being able to build on the same lands as my home town, but I have one issue. The starting highway placement is a little akward, not sure if it's just me, but I often have some issues with the starting roads. Maybe move the highway to the right, and put a little more space in between the two roads. Overall it is still a great map!

I've been playing on this map for 20+ hours with a few different attempts. I really like it. Allows for a natural look while ample expansion.

I'm not taking requests at the moment, my apologies! I'll probably do some more, but likely just places where I live/have lived since I'm familiar with how it should look

Any chance of you doing a map for the NOVA/DC area?

I was thinking of doing Greensboro and Winston-Salem! Maybe even the Pilot Mountain area, that'd be some neat terrain.

As an Ashevillian I'm excited to make sense of AVL's roads.

Great map, although I've noticed that a lot of the highway placement gives some ugly seams. Most notably towards the rear ( at the bridge) of the starting area. It looks off. Real shame, because the environment is beautiful.

I driven around the entire country and Asheville has some of the most frustrating road layouts of anywhere I have ever been. Now's my chance to do better!
yrmp 13 Mar, 2015 @ 2:05am
I saw links to that but I also saw some people mentioning that the maps were low quality or something. It seemed to work for this. I'll give it a shot next time.

I actually used Terrain Party to get my initial file! http://terrain.party/
yrmp 13 Mar, 2015 @ 2:01am
Haha yeah. I think that's where I messed up. I basically took a photo from MICRODEM, took it into photoshop, changed the resolution a bit, and grayscaled it. Next time I'll do a little more tweaking.
TheLGR  [author] 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:58am
I had to do a ton of tweaking in Photoshop, as well as in the in-game editor. You need a good balance of the white and black values in the height map to get decent depth!
yrmp 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:58am
Looks solid! Any tips on making the game do better with height maps? It made my map all wonky at first. The elevation was way off target.
