just wondering, is there any way to find the source files for the animations?

@GrD

no, nothing is wrong with them. For years, however, people have wanted the L4D1 animations in 2. Up until now no one has been able to fully successfully do it.

The default L4D2 animations are glued to your face, the field of view is way too close to be plausibly realistic in any way. They are extremely static when moving, or looking up and down. Due to their unrealistically close FoV, they take up much of the screen, as Pingas said.
Pingas 16 Mar, 2015 @ 11:01pm
The L4D1 animations look better and don't take up half the screen.

I've seen a lot of mods lately on the workshop for fixing animations. I am curious, is there something wrong with the L4D2 animations? I've never noticed anything.

I wonder if there are any videos anywhere showing the difference between the default animations an the ones these mods replace them with.

I am interested in seeing the difference and deciding which is better. Anything you could do to enlighten me?

well, this medkit never had a proper melee, so this medkit used the original melee (WHICH CAN'T BE FOUND IN THE STARTER KIT TO THOSE SAYING ALL FILES ARE PUBLIC!!) L4D displayed the melee then loaded the idle, while this blends into the idle and since the original melee was in its old position, it doesn't blend correctly. This melee is more in the retail's position but not quite fully, so it still causes a wonky melee.

So how does the beta kit animations have the L4D1 shove but these don't? Do they apply differently to the merging?
Theuaredead`  [author] 15 Mar, 2015 @ 4:40pm
As stated in the changelog "- Added Authoring Tools Melee Animation (L4D and L4D2 merge into the melee much differently, this makes look less wonky)"
Pingas 15 Mar, 2015 @ 4:38pm
Shoving animations still aren't quite perfect to L4D1, but at least it's better than before.

Video would be great

@Pingas, Valves fault for changing the code for some reason (My fault for assuming it was just because L4D2 had the slider inverted and not fully proof checking.) Patch should be soon.
Pingas 15 Mar, 2015 @ 9:52am
The up and down looking animations are also reversed. The down looking animation is used for looking up and vice versa.

this is just what I needed to make the game feel like the original

your my god Theu. :)

Looks good.

First guy to get the legs working again via addon/workshop gets a reward, but I ain't telling until I see some actual proof of legs working in L4D2.

Ya'll have these old files from Valve, figure it out like how Doc Brown invented the time machine.
Pingas 13 Mar, 2015 @ 3:55pm
I would rather have the melee animation be fixed instead of a running animation being added.
xDragonFall 13 Mar, 2015 @ 2:12pm
Yay
Benjuhh 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:56pm
Thanks for making this Theu. :)
Juleris 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:53pm
OK. .-. Sorry for pointing you out there.
Juleris 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:53pm
Check his workshop, he did.
Theuaredead`  [author] 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:52pm
No he didn't
Juleris 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:51pm
Yeah he did, he made a L4D Medkit animation mod.
Theuaredead`  [author] 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:51pm
No he didn't
Juleris 13 Mar, 2015 @ 1:50pm
Um, Lt. Rocky already made this.
