Oh ya, "Badlands" drill site is hard to navigate even with this mod enabled. and you have to go in there to find a crate so it can be hard to not bump into the walls.
SuperNiceGuy 2 Dec, 2022 @ 7:52pm
Work fine in 4.3
Tashine (Da) 21 Jan, 2019 @ 11:10am
From memory the big rock base comes to mind - in Albion? Badlands maybe is the name. I had to max my gamma to move around inside it.
Nodus Cursorius  [author] 21 Jan, 2019 @ 1:13am
Thanks! That's curious. If you can give me an example on which surfaces it doesn't work, I may look into it.
Tashine (Da) 20 Jan, 2019 @ 1:03pm
Nice mod. Not all XR surfaces seem to benefit from light though.
Nodus Cursorius  [author] 23 Aug, 2016 @ 10:13am
I don't remember there being a shortcut for the light on the Skunk, sorry!
NoLiMiT72X 22 Aug, 2016 @ 9:24am

NoLiMiT72X 22 Aug, 2016 @ 9:23am
Is there on and off function? Shortkey?
NobleNemesis 19 Mar, 2016 @ 11:19am
Yeah, I tried following that route and it didn't seem to work out. I'll try re-subbing and seeing if maybe something didn't work. Thanks though Nodus, I'll be reinstalling it, once I get my better rig. >:D
Nodus Cursorius  [author] 19 Mar, 2016 @ 12:29am
Sorry to hear that! Egosoft at least published a document to help with the mod removal process.

http://www.egosoft.com/support/faq/faq_answer_en.php?answer=2299&version=10

Or, tl;dr - Open X Rebirth and go to the Extensions menu. For the Exploration Light, click the Subscribe so that it says "Subscribed: No". Close the game and make sure you are also unsubscribed in Steam. Afterwards, delete the mod folder from your game directory if it still exists. It may be called exploration_light or possible ws_408459548.

The mod removal process can be a bit glitchy for their game. Couldn't tell you why.
NobleNemesis 18 Mar, 2016 @ 9:49pm
It occurs regardless, but this probably isn't your mod's issue, but rather that my system barely meets requirements and has issues with lights and shadows, so it was a bad choice on my part. Still cant get rid of it though, I must have missed something.
Nodus Cursorius  [author] 18 Mar, 2016 @ 9:24pm
Does this stutter occur if you have the mod disabled in the options menu?
NobleNemesis 17 Mar, 2016 @ 8:15pm
Followed the instructions in the comments, and I still can't seem to get rid of the light. Unfortunately, it causes stutters for me on this system. Any ideas what else I'm missing?

Much appreciation. Finally i can light the darkness.

@Alpha-methyl

Warms my heart to see people enjoying the mod, still. We're in total agreement, as well! Too often are flashlights and similar short enough in range that by the time the area is illuminated... we're already crashed into it.

I've also updated the compatibility note as it is STILL compatible up to and including the latest 3.60b4 patch.
Alpha-methyl 20 Aug, 2015 @ 6:20am
This is much "needed". Needed for my immersion anyway. It pisses me off when in games, they make flashlights by defualt pathetic and useless. I love using them and there's no reason the Skunks headlights should only reach the length of the ship ahead... Thanks sir.

WOW THANK YOU!!! Been looking for a mod for this since I started playing this game.
KasLD 25 Mar, 2015 @ 9:26am
thanks man
Chupakabra-King 24 Mar, 2015 @ 6:13pm
Thank you !!!! This is awesome !!

@KasLD

Click Subscribe on any mod, for Steam Workshop. Steam will automatically download and install the latest version of the mod and the game will automatically use it upon launching. No additional configuration or interaction required. The mod will automatically update to the latest version whenever there is a new release.

If you want to disable or unsubscribe from a mod, within the game you can go to the Extensions section on the main menu and manage each mod individually. Be sure to unsubscribe/remove the mod from within the game before unsubscribing on Steam (it should happen automatically).

It's automagic!
KasLD 24 Mar, 2015 @ 1:12pm
how do i use this (or any) mod?
Nodus Cursorius  [author] 23 Mar, 2015 @ 3:58am
@RazNaRoko

A very uncommon error, unrelated to the modification itself but rather a flaw in Workshop. To avoid this in the future: uninstall a modification from within X Rebirth first before unsubscribing in the Workshop

This should fix things:

1. Open X Rebirth, go to Extensions and select Exploration Light

2 a. If there is an option to Subscribe choose No and then exit XR

2 b. If there is an option to Enable choose No and then exit XR

2 c. If there are two Exploration Light apply 2a and 2b to both

3. After the above steps, right-click X Rebirth in your Steam Library and chose "Properties". Then, go to the "Local Files" tab and click the "Browse Local Files" button

4. Delete the folder "exploration_light" and if there is a folder named "ws_408459548" delete this folder as well

5. Finally, make sure Steam shows that Exploration Light is unsubscribed. If so, feel free to subscribe again!
RazNaRok 23 Mar, 2015 @ 3:11am
My X rebirth says "location 'Exploration Light' already used by another extension.
How to fix??
Lordtron13 22 Mar, 2015 @ 9:24pm
Let the light shine.

A quick thanks to everyone who has commented or subscribed! Your support and encouragement are what keep mod authors going and it is never taken for granted

@Dark-Chummer

Ich verstehe, das Licht ist zu hell für Sie. Es gibt eine Lösung, vielleicht

1. Gehen Sie zu: https://github.com/NodusCursorius/Exploration_Light

2. Klicken Sie auf "Download Zip" - Beispiel: http://i.imgur.com/8a2iSrA.png

3. Abbestellen "Exploration Light" in Steam

4. Löschen Sie den Ordner "exploration_light" in "X Rebirth\extensions\"

5. Entpacken Sie die Zip "Exploration_Light-master.zip" bis "X Rebirth\extensions\"

6. Bearbeiten "Exploration_Light-master\assets\units\player\unit_player_ship.xml"

7. Geben Sie in der Zeile, verringern Sie die "2" Nummer

<replace sel="/components/component[@name='unit_player_ship']/layers/layer/lights/spot[@name='XU Spot01']/@intensity">2</replace>

Viel Glück! Ich genieße das helle Licht als Standard

Ich empfand das Licht sogar schon etwas zu hell. Gerade wenn ich Nahaufnahmen von Schiffen machen wollte, störte mich das.
ocedius 16 Mar, 2015 @ 8:31pm
/Agreed.
Cybersijn 16 Mar, 2015 @ 7:12am
Agreed, an improvement it is! Looks as though I put a fresh set of batteries in the ships headlights. :D
FearMuss 15 Mar, 2015 @ 6:11pm
Very cool, a subtle mod but still an improvement
