Pro Tip: You can use this as an interchange for a collector-express system with another type of highway using a tunnel or elevated road, the expressway bypassing the interchange or merging in with custom ramps or a basketweave closeby to the appropriate directions
CA$H THE GREAT 24 Oct, 2019 @ 3:39am
Isn't this the same as a Full Diamond interchange because you have exiting/entering ramps on the left and right sides?

I'd love to see a version of this using tunnels if possible please?

To answer my own question (after lot's of drawing a lot of lines), I figured out that weaving is not the same as merging. Weaving is where traffic is forced to switch lanes due to an upcoming off-ramp. Whereas merging, is well... merging two roads into one. I guess you could depict the former as an X-type road and the latter as a Y-type. Perhaps this is helpful for other ppl like me who are new to this ;-)

Timboh, you really kindled an interest in intersections in me! Great work!
I'm trying to get my head around "weaving" and why this isn't a problem on a stack, whereas it is a problem on a Cloverleaf. I don't get that, both have 8 points on which traffic merges (=weaves??).

Haha nice to see a stack decreased in size! I've had a crack ata whirlpool stack (there's a few in the UK) but it's not that neat!

Thanks so much for this. I really suck at interchanges.

@Phoenix C64: Nah, if anyone rocks in here, it's you, my good Sir! I'm glad you like my creations! :)

@Tallinu: You could certainly tweak it to make it even smaller, however I personally prefer to leave that to player. Personally, I often have wide medians for my motorways, so that I can fit in decorations and extra ramps in the central reservation whenever I might need it. :D
Tallinu 19 Mar, 2015 @ 10:22am
Squeezing four levels into three... Nice!

I wonder if the lead-in/out sections could be S-curved somewhat to reduce the median at the ends, particularly the two outgoing ends of the underpass where the ramps are already at ground level...

gonna try this. stack interchanges are suposed to be the best intersection system, but in game all the ones i have tried so far had placing problems (slope too steep) ... hopefully a compact version like this one will not have the same problem. will tell you later :D BTW, Timboh, your stuff rocks :)

Nice, I like the complexity.
