Yeah, maybe three different shrines
1. Current shieldy shrine
2. Weapons shoot faster
3. gives supplies, regens supplies, and lowers maintenance.

I like this mod, congratulations on the dev's popping in to borrow it too.
Simple, but addresses a balance issue in a new way. Good job Darloth

Yeah. You'd have to have a subsystem hook which checked the coverage every tick, adjusting its bonuses on the fly. It's a bit complicated, and I haven't quite worked out the details, but that's the basic idea.

Haven't entirely figured it out yet, but the altar coverage is clearly available somewhere in scripts as a tracked empire variable.

Wow, Darloth, nice. I've been 'accused' of 'stealing' the devs' ideas (making a playable race based on the people that made the Remnants) before, but this is new. :P

(Also, funnily enough, I was going to ask if you'd figured out how to make Altars influence the magnitude of the bonus. I think I have an idea, but...)

Basing whatever bonus/shield/effect it is on how much altar power (total? Spare? didn't decide yet) the empire has also seemed like a good idea to me.

I had the idea that there would be some way of changing which prayer they were currently performing, so maybe it's a shield, maybe it's some other bonus, but you're more than welcome to take any part of the idea or indeed the mod and do whatever you'd like with it.

I haven't looked at your implementation, but I really like the idea of them praying to the shrine on the ship that provides a shield. You mind if we steal that idea?
