Here a question… will this be compatible with “Daily needs survival kit (DNSK - Mk4.1a) since the mod already have Carbon in it ( as part of the artificial fertilizer recipe) ???

Devil this mod has been dead for over 2 years now
Devil 16 Jun, 2020 @ 11:23am
needs to be fix cant get the Carbon
Varkom 20 Feb, 2019 @ 1:26pm
Doesn't anyone reanimate this mod? It is a pity - cool mod!
Navarone 19 Nov, 2018 @ 7:49pm
Mod's a zombie. Read the old comments.
The Nameless 19 Nov, 2018 @ 7:24pm
Dunno if you're still active but the carbon ore texture is missing. Unless you meant for it to be pink slime. But, it is pink slime.
THE FORCE 19 Nov, 2018 @ 9:20am
May I edit this and add it to my repack?
Navarone 9 Nov, 2018 @ 10:26pm
Well, you have tough glass, but you don't have a fancy texture for it, and that was most of the draw for this mod, to me at least.
Zantulo 9 Nov, 2018 @ 8:25pm
Yup but I wouldn't say the mod's dead if you can still implement an easy workaround to get it working. It's just as-is for the moment, but I'm happy with it since it's fully functional o7
Navarone 9 Nov, 2018 @ 5:29pm
It was made when Keen was still screwing around with windows, so the custom texture was broken and the mod author got sick of having to fix it.
Zantulo 9 Nov, 2018 @ 4:48pm
I can confirm that this mod still works! I used this updated mod of Gen's Carbon: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=937221500&searchtext=carbon+material+updated

I loaded it above this mod on the list, as in SE the higher on the list means higher priority, hence the mod on the very top is loaded last and often wins conflict resolutions with other mods (ugh, took me a few days into my mod journey to figure that one out.)

I loaded up Creative, created some Carbon with Voxel Hands (texture works), mined it, and created the resource 'Diamond Bonded Glass' that's required to build the windows. For whatever reason they appeared as completely clear glass, no hex pattern (or scratches/reflections that vanilla has).
Anarch Cassius 18 Feb, 2018 @ 10:47am
Oh and you can fix the carbon color by placing the updated carbon mod in the game, I forget if it needs to before or after but order matters.
Anarch Cassius 18 Feb, 2018 @ 10:46am
Could frankly live with these being clear instead of Hex windows, but the airtightness settings on these blocks are bonkers, nothing make any sense.
Navarone 3 Sep, 2017 @ 1:12am
Mod's dead. Has a small chance of being revived, but don't count on it.
DrKirk 3 Sep, 2017 @ 12:33am
Carbon ore is a pinck color bug!

Thanks Xeno only just came back after about 2 years off :D
Navarone 14 Jul, 2017 @ 8:38pm
No, we're all having the texture issue. Mod's broken. It was abandoned a while back with the potential to be picked back up, most likely when Keen stops messing with glass in general.
[40-1] SgtSnipey 14 Jul, 2017 @ 6:45pm
I'm I the only one having a texture issue? I don't have the nice texture that comes with the mod on my server. :(
d_valroth 14 Mar, 2017 @ 5:17pm
For a while they certainly did. My oppinion doesn't enter into it, that's Tristavius' stance on the issue.

Personally I'm waiting for them to realize that glass shouldn't be a translucent texture at all, but a shader effect, like pretty much every game since Doom 3. A light refraction effect looks so much better than dust and scratches. I'm surprised that we finally got full PBR, but glass is still no better than a game from the 90s.
Shroom 9 Mar, 2017 @ 10:44am
@d_valroth Keen does not change glass every other week. They do, however, continually improve their early access game, as they should.

It sounds like you'd prefer the game's development to stagnate.
d_valroth 9 Mar, 2017 @ 7:59am
He stopped updating it because every time he did, Keen would change something that completely ruined the look again. The mod's not going to get it's proper graphics back until Keen stops changing how glass works every other week.
Shroom 2 Mar, 2017 @ 10:30am
That is a glitch. It needs to be fixed. The mod author may no longer be modding so I would not expect an update.
kris220b 25 Feb, 2017 @ 2:56am
it does not eaven look like normal glass
its 100% clear, you would only notice the glass is there by looking at the trim
Rune Cyber 24 Feb, 2017 @ 8:12pm
i just noticed that the glass no longer has the hex design just looks like normal glass is it supposed to look like that?
antokamire 31 Jan, 2017 @ 6:25am
carbon ore has no texture loaded (is pink) pls fix
Alaratt 30 Dec, 2016 @ 9:25pm
Neato it worked ty
Shroom 30 Dec, 2016 @ 7:09pm
@Comanhlywd That usually means the mod has not loaded properly. Do some troubleshooting. Remove the sbm file for this mod from your mods folder and let it redownload.
Alaratt 30 Dec, 2016 @ 7:06pm
The mod does not work for me, no new items show in G menu and the voxel hands do not show carbon as an option to use.
R-TEAM 29 Dec, 2016 @ 8:55am
Would be nice, if the "pink" carbon color would be fixed :D
Thryson 23 Dec, 2016 @ 6:47am
Hey Trist any chance of getting this updated for the new mega patch? I know you were waiting for them to stop but they have said that baring any bugs these will be the final textures.
VS-lockon 18 Dec, 2016 @ 4:15am
you guy need fix this mod
d_valroth 8 Dec, 2016 @ 7:44am
Keen really trashed glass this time. On the other hand, they probably won't break it anymore since the final textures and new meshes will be going in soon. Probably.

*difficult *window
Le Grand Sarrazin 27 Oct, 2016 @ 6:21pm
Well, it looks like the time has come for that Big glass redo. Today's update broke basically everyones' mods that incorporate glass. Although, I agree with Dawnbreaker, the glass is 'almost' impossible to see through, I actually have another issue altogether. I'm not sure if this is on you or Keen, but, if I stand next to your glass it shows no oxygen, even inside my ship. There is just some dead zone within the bounding box. It's airtight, that's for sure, but just makes it fdifficult to stand next to the windiw to get a look outside, even if it's milky-white, and everything looks the same!! xD Cheers!!

IMPORTANT: GLASS TEXTURE ISSUES

Due to the constant flux of Keen's glass rendering I have been holding off updating for a while as it was changing faster than I could keep up. I am also hearing lots of contradictory reports, probably due to different graphic settings.

If you feel the transparency/render is currently incorrect, please post a screenshot link and the date it was taken (I may ask for further settings info but no need to include by default).

Thanks!
Tristavius  [author] 29 Jun, 2016 @ 1:56am
@Alzan280: Sorry, unfortunately this is a game limitation. On saying that, as worlds are now 'infinite', I believe any newly generated asteroids would have a chance of having it. There's also the 'creative pack' which doesn't include the survival orientated carbon element. It does however still need a recipe and is made only from regular materials - you can always use use that.

@Captain Dawnbreaker: Keen glass renderings are in enormous flux this year and for a while were changing weekly. This is absolutely something I will fix but only when all has settled down. I'm also hearing very varied reports of performance on different graphic settings.
Altzan260 7 May, 2016 @ 2:36pm
It would be helpful If it would generate in a previously loaded world
Evelyn 28 Apr, 2016 @ 12:26pm
Great mod and I use it in most of my builds. However currently the glass is not transparent as it was in the past and I can barely see out of the windows. I just started playing SE more often again so I am unsure of when this change happened.
Cheetah 21 Apr, 2016 @ 7:57am
By the way, if small ship diamond windows would be impractical (although I doubt that they're really that impractical, with Tiered Thrusters you can make a gunship with all heavy armor and 2.5 blocks heavy in nose, and it's still very nimble), could we have some diamond glass welded instead of standard bulletproofs in our cockpits?
Mike Loeven 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:59pm
@tristavius Its not a issue of there being a vacuum inside the rounded windows its that the windows allow the entire room to vent
Tristavius  [author] 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:42pm
On saying that, I do feel the small ship versions could maybe use a small review as while 'correct' as per Keens own light/heavy balance, actually making practical use of them is extremely challenging. Will try and do a re-balance.
Tristavius  [author] 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:40pm
With regards to the mass, these windows have the same relationship to heavy blocks as normal glass does to light blocks (that is, they are a similar weight and slightly less damage resistant at about 70%).

Like heavy armor blocks, when and how to use them is part of the design challenge; you can't build a light nimble gunship out of heavy armor as it will more than likely be a brick, same goes for this glass.

If however, we are talking a big slow battleship or better yet a vulnerable space station where mass doesn't matter quite so much...
Tristavius  [author] 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:36pm
@Dii: Keen seem to be changing the way glass renders almost weekly at the moment for most of 2016... once things seem to have settled down I'll have a look at improving it as much as possible but currently every time I spend a week trying to sort it the time just gets wasted. Glass also seems to be quite user-setup specific (some very, very different results on different machines/settings) so any screenshot links always helps!

@Mike Loeven: Thanks for the report and good picture - making windows airtight while allowing oxygen to actually still flow past them inside is currently a very difficult system; it's a choice between relying on the in-built calculations, which as you can see, tend to fail or just turning oxygen in the whole block off rendering them useless in tunnels etc. I keep meaning to update the sloped glass anyway, will have a look over to see if there's anything else I can do.
Mike Loeven 9 Apr, 2016 @ 9:43pm
The rounded windows do not appear to be air tight when mounted flush with rounded armor on each side of them they still do not hold oxygen

Diilicious 7 Apr, 2016 @ 7:06am
this used to look really good with the dx9 renderer, but now with dx11 the resolution seems far less on the glass, also the panes seem to glow strangely. any ideas?
Cheetah 6 Apr, 2016 @ 4:23am
Small ship version, please?
kris220b 16 Mar, 2016 @ 2:02pm
@warloko

you dont have to appologise for me

making carbon glass lighter then many tons sounds rather relistic
dont see how its whining to ask for realism
warloko 16 Mar, 2016 @ 1:40pm
I would like to thank you for the work you have done.. I appologise about the whinners! aka Kris. Please continue to improve this mod... its a good idea
kris220b 17 Jan, 2016 @ 5:50am
@Rhedd

but you have to agree

41 additional tons for a small canopy on a heli

thats just mad
