@Lenon do you know how expensive it is to heat and maintain churches? :D
Lenon 8 Feb, 2023 @ 11:03am
Amazing job with it but upkeep is to high.

U are amazing
※͎̗͔͈͎͈͈̞̔̌͜͝͠ 4 Jun, 2021 @ 12:46pm
Double the price, double the upkeep and 1/6th of the capacity is not really balanced.

Elementary School: €10,000 (€160 upkeep), Capacity: 300
Church: €20,000 (€320 upkeep) Capacity: 50

€5.000 by €80 would be more reasonable.

@dannyllee Hilarious!

@Aulë it's Christianity. You're forcing them to be Christian. They should have their own religious rights. Teaching them Christian biased facts is actually harmful to how they perceive things.

@ursath Not even close.

Wouldn't this provide negative education? :D A park version of this would be pretty nice

@alfonso = "could you build a Jehovas witnesses kingdom hall?"
I have built the hall of the kingdom of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I test it.

This asset looks great, and as many others I'm using it a lot, thank you! However as you do not seem to be active in asset creation anymore I was thinking about updating your asset. Would you agree? I would of course give you credit for the original model. I would modify the textures and the mesh a fair bit. You seem to have had access to high quality photographs, so I would be extremely grateful if you accepted to let me access the original pictures. Cheers
MrSheepwood 10 Oct, 2016 @ 7:07am
Do you have this one as a park?
Dexter 10 Feb, 2016 @ 6:00pm
Any cance for this to be updated?

Great looking church ... perfect for neighborhoods and small towns. I like that it adds a little education to the area as well. Thanks for creating and sharing!

I'm getting this line in an error log, not sure if it's relevant:

Not sure if you're still around jw84, but I made a snowy version of your church, which is my favorite building, and gave it some outdoor spotlights. Of course I gave you credit, and have a regular version with lighting that I can publish. It has the same outdoor spotlights as this snowy one. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=538604243&tscn=1445362462

Beautiful model: thank you for contributing it! I used it as the centerpiece of a small town surrounded by fields.
Andy463 3 Sep, 2015 @ 4:49am
This is a very nice asset, correctly categorised due to the history of the 18th & 19th century churches in promoting basic education for children of lower classes, which was not available to them until 1870. Sunday schools are still there today in many churches and chapels. It also reminds me a lot of various churches and some chapels that we have here in the UK and you don't have to be a Christian or even a believer in any faith to appreciate it.

This is the place to credit jw84 for creating it rather than for intolerant individuals who hide behind private profiles that use this forum and others like it for spouting their anti-religious vitriol.

Well done, jw84, and thankyou.

Cool to see things like this in Skylines, outside of the cemetaries!

Coming from a tiny town in rural Ohio, near the border with Kentucky, I can say I've seen my share of steeples. Will certainly find a place for it somewhere in my town of 180,000!
nordvolf 13 Jul, 2015 @ 7:27am
I come from/live in a small town, and this is so wonderfully iconic! Just fabulous, from the building details, to the low property-boundery-walls, to the trees & bushes... just amazing!

I rather agree on the "Shouldn't be under the education tab" though, albeit from a different perspective. For me, I think it should be handled as a Park. It would then generate happiness in an area (as real churches in small communities do), as well as requiring electric/water resources. *And* it would have a visitor count every week. As in, how many people went to church that week! :D

Just a wonderful asset I sub'd imediately. And I wasn't even looking for churches!
Thank you so much for making this.
BarbeQ 7 Jul, 2015 @ 12:17am
@Author: very nice building. Perfectly fits in smaller townships. Thanks.

@Thadian: to be honest, reading your hate comments about christians/religion on every church someone uploads here, makes you sound quite retarded. Ever heard about a thing called tolerance?
Smecher 2 Jul, 2015 @ 12:48pm
Very good job, who cares what tab it is , it just looks awesome. Never went to church but they make cities look good, since is a part of history. Go make a castle now pls :D
Sol 30 Jun, 2015 @ 2:35am
I wouldn't object if this gave tourism/tax breaks/whatever but education? Better off increasing pollution and crime.

Really education tab? +1 for Thadian, i totally agree.

Great addition! Thank you.
BayneRav 1 Jun, 2015 @ 12:22am
Iconic structure, perfer a elementary/highschool version so works both fronts of needs, other than that great model!
Tokiorose 3 May, 2015 @ 12:17am
I love to use this for quiet low density neighborhoods!
Fallina 2 May, 2015 @ 8:03am
I have to agree that Skylines is lacking in the Religious facilities department. Even for those of us who don't really care one way or the other about religion personally, it is, none-the-less, a part of life. Seems odd that it wasn't in the game, but there are several other elements missing in the base game that seem like they would have been included.

As I understand it, CO is planning more features in coming updates, so I'm really looking forward to those, and this would be a game that I actually wouldn't mind paying for some decent DLC if it's offered down the road. CiM had some pretty good DLC's, so I have some faith that CO and Paradox could do well in the DLC department so long as they don't go the way of some corporate devils and get greedy. I'm looking at you EA!

Would be nice to have a description in game simialr in style to other default ploppables. Thanks.
thsmar 15 Apr, 2015 @ 6:25am
@bigheadjer - you could consider the building as repurposed as a Seminary by a budget constricted group. I know of several such cases that are very active. I do agree a 'landmark' version would be nice especially in the case of your city.

Leaf 14 Apr, 2015 @ 5:35am
@alternatethis > implying creation museums are an educational facility.
bigheadjer 8 Apr, 2015 @ 3:54am
So in my current game, I used this asset as the first school (this is realistic, many churches/monasteries/nunneries doubled as schools in the 18th and 19th centuries). However, my city has moved on in size and I disabled this building as a school. It would be nice if I could also get a park version of this model so that I can have continuity in my city, turning it into a museum or historical landmark of sorts. If you could give us that that would be great!
Bruce Wayne 7 Apr, 2015 @ 5:17pm
@Thadian. There are creation museums. Educate yourself
Simon 31 Mar, 2015 @ 12:34am
Realistic looking church. As much as I'm not the least bit religious the game does need one for realistic looking cities.
Uber-n00bie 29 Mar, 2015 @ 4:47pm
Thank you jw84 for the wonderful building! You're quite talented -- looking forward to seeing what you make next.

And to those whining about the building type: Regardless of your beliefs (or trolling), when you consider how cims interact with buildings in this game, an education building makes by far the most sense for a church. Keep your hateful judgements to yourself, instead of acting like tactless children.
Captain "Papa Bear" Del Rio 29 Mar, 2015 @ 12:44pm
Thanks so much for this asset. I'm glad you've put it in Education. Is there a way of changing it to High School? Not a critique, simply a question. I am not a modder so I don't have the knowledge.
Sam 2JZ 29 Mar, 2015 @ 12:58am
noones making you download it. make your own mods before you complain about what tab its under due to your own personal beliefs. grow up @Britishgamerni

BritishGamerNI 28 Mar, 2015 @ 6:23pm
i'd download it but I don't want a church to come under education could you make another version so it acts like a park then i'll download it
Blackdragonbird 28 Mar, 2015 @ 2:47am
Great asset man. Can you do a City/town hall in this style? Will be great for a "rural" city theme. =)
