HOMEWORLD Cataclym Forever!!!

Hello All. This is AlgSer. I found one interesting thing in original homeworld cataclysm/emergence game, you play game with medium textures even full detail is selected! for egzample, start game and look at the botom of worker unit and see low rez textures. sometimes game loads with maximaized textures but not allways.for this you need one simple trick. go into tutorial and quit tutorial. :) and then go into skirmish and set game, after that you can play with beter textures.:) And thats all. Guys please write if it worked for you.

u can go to GOG and get homeworld emergence its 100% the same as cata just renamed

@Man from the Fizz. This version of the mod is dead and an updated one is in the works. Currently, Singleplayer isn't available right now as unit functionality is still in the works.

nice job, but crashes occasionally - like using drone frigats and trying to deploy drones.

BUT: no unit-XP .. or at least not visible.
that was awesome in cataclysm. even the mothership could get stronger and faster and repair more. PLS integrate :)

Actually, HWR has powerful scripting abilities. If you are looking at what other mods are doing, I do think that most of Cataclysm should be doable. Shield Drones and combining ships are probably the hardest part, we are in agreement on that.

The big challenge with Cataclysm was that the actual engine for HW1 was updated to be able to run some of the ships and actions (ex: force fields and force-field drones)

And HW2 engine is a completely different beast, more 'dice roles' and less real physics from what I understand (no real collision detection).

All of this means it's about far more than assets. The HW2 engine would need to be upgraded to handle the new items and behaviors, AND even talking with the old developers at Rockstar Vancouver wouldn't be of much help. Some elements of Cat game play might be unworkable with the HW2 engine (iirc there were problems with some of the HW1 missions because without real collision detection, etc it made them practically un-winnable)

Building all of that new on-top of HW2 without help might be beyond the skill sets of the people working on this.

I'd like to be wrong, though.
