I thought as much :)

Bad wording, my bad. With unique buildings I mean the vanilla set of landmarks :)

BTW when you say unique buildings, are you talking about Landmarks under the Unique Buildings tab? I have around 40 in total under the level tabs which would be a bit of a squeeze :)

Good job on the map I must say, making it up from scratch. I haven't got as far with this mission yet, basically I have stabilised the economy to find what works, improved road communications but have yet to build the airport and start n the unique buildings, if I do succeed I'll post a pic. I have more or less done Ramora Bay but as usual never 100% satisfied so always tweaking :) With Mission to Mars I decided to take it as far as I could only using the one tile, now that was fun!

Barry, btw, did you do the final task? Can I see a screenshot of that?

Yep, I made the map https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=414157677 and the snaking embankements is just my terraforming to get a more unique/natural/organic feel to the map :)

Difficult to think of anything, how about running a highway through the valley from one end to the other? :) BTW did you make the map yourself? There are a few snaking embankments I noticed, earlier roads/railways?

My bad on the dams task, didn't think that one through. You got any ideas what to replace that task with?

And the goal to attract hoardes of tourists :) That does seem to be one of the games shortcomings, well for me anyway, have yet to attract tourists in double figures let alone hoardes! But the problem solving of the missions I enjoyed, taking over from a corrupt/irresponsible/ignorant mayor and build a successful workable town from the ruins..... Oh and the maps are great too, very interesting to work with, thanks again.

It would be difficult I think. With my first city I made such a mess I created a debt of a few 100k but still managed to claw my way back. I received lots of offers for loans (with the loss of any acheivements) but turned them down. So that aspect of a mission would be difficult to make hard (!) Maybe creating a town so horrendous and in debt you need to know the game very well to straighten it out? But the goals have to be acheivable. This mission for example, it was financialy irresponsible to have one HE dam (3200 for 16kw!?) let alone build 5 :) The water sources in the map weren't strong enough to make that viable at all.

@BarryGreyBeard thanks for the nice feedback. Any suggestions on how to make the profit aspect more challenging? I'm afraid the budget is simply too easy to handle in CSL.

I had fun with your three missions, what grabbed me was the interesting terrain you used. I love taking a run down city and bringing it back to life. They were a challenge but didn't take much to make them profitable. Great fun, thanks for posting them.

Hm, not sure about unique buildings, but I doubt it's embeded into the savegame.
BonPadre 4 Apr, 2015 @ 6:21pm
So far :
1° budget = check all working fine and nicely positive
2° Population reached 17k ( I didn't want to grow too quiqly without solving few things first, so took me time)
3° No landfill zone = check
4° Rail connection to Coleridge = check (obviously airport will have to wait ;-p )
5° Road optimisation = work in progress, buat already quite a few major things solved

I have dumbly reseted all my unique buildings, so that part may be the heavyer, as I was not wanting them to be unlocked while I did not get them. (or did I and did not notice I did ??? could it be it was your game save related that unlocked them all for me ?)

Haha horrible you say. Good. The plan with this mission was to push players to look into things they rarely do, because things that are usually taken for granted are rather screwed up on this map. From you comment I see I sort of achieved that. High-five! :)

The river should not dry up. Never. So that's something I did not expect at all. Hmm.

Actually Did not play too much on the map yet. My biggest concern was getting around the buget, as it took me time to realise the low taxes as I never touch them in my usual games lol.

Besides that, the river in which the 2 water pumps are placed got dry, so it was time to take a loan to move them as well as the sewage after the dam.

My first move though was turn off the dam as it cost tons of money and create almost no electricity.

Overall where I truely messed up was the time it took me to get around the buget and I reached -90k, but now finally getting back on track.

Next awful thing to solve is the horrible only road ;-p

@BonPadre thanks for your feedback, appreciated. The mission has not been playtested, so any further feedback will be nice. How did you start, what was the main problem, any suggestions on improvements? Cheers!

Wow. That's some work ahead ;-) I have a tough start, but finally getting better.

Nice work, nice map, awful starting setup, so all great for a mission.
Thanks for your work and time doing that
