Sadly a good chunk of this is true but that's just the way America is now, I don't hold much against Obama as I feel he honestly tried to do good but wasn't able to reach his marks (I'm sure alot of it has to do with racism)
I sure know Trump isn't going to improve any of this.
@Potato Don't get me wrong, I enjoy political satire very much and full understand the 'having to laugh if only to not cry' sentiment but frankly the disdain with which people, usually the most vulnerable in society, are treated by the very same people who champion themselves under the labels of 'loving America' or 'patriot' is disturbing - these people seem to be unaware that a nation is an abstract, America is a people and the notion that economics, rights, freedom and other things are 'net-zero' where if one lot of people are lifted up or treated better that is a loss for someone else (they usually imagine it being themselves, the 'apparently' more deserving).
Anyway, what you're saying is correct, though I rolled my eyes at the Einstein comment. I'll just latch onto one thing. However correct you are that the "purpose" of welfare is to prevent impoverishment - the result seems to be the exact opposite. Virtually all tragedies of human society in the macro scale begin with good intentions. If you're interested then I recommend you pick up "The Vision of the Anointed", or literally anything else by Thomas Sowell, if only to marvel at the 20+ pages of sources & studies cited at the end of every one of his books. Yet the myth of good intentions lives on...
