I disagree, I find the sound of gunfire very pleasant. The MAG 58's industrial drumbeat with the gas regulator wound out to 9 makes me jizz in my pants every time.
Just a note to anyone that dislikes certain sounds in the mod, I'd recommend doing what I did and just cannibalise what you like from here and cut away the rest to make your own custom collection. Everyone prefers a different set of sounds. I only uploaded mine on request, I fully expect everyone to hold a different opinion on what sounds right and what sounds off.
Luckily, modding sounds in Source games is ridiculously easy.
BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS BANGING! :]
That being said, without making the sound of gunfire unpleasant, it's probably too hard to make them sound realistic. Real gunfire is unpleasant to hear. Ear protection or not.
@kellymiker I don't really have time to tweak particular sounds to peoples tastes atm but if you'd like to give it a shot, feel free to edit/reupload anything you find here. The problem with echoes is I can add them from other sounds but I can't make them specifically suited to the shot. The end product would probably sound a bit awkward. I've also specifically tried to find a shorter balance on echoes because Insurgency plays the same audio for indoors and outdoors.
