Thanks!

There should be bones for each of the four doors. I can't remember what they are called, it's been ages since I've messed with this model. Probably something like front_door_hinge_L or something. Check under Unknown on the bone list for the model.
big chungus 9 Apr, 2017 @ 12:54pm
Very good, but how do I open the doors?
lucky_lucas 15 Mar, 2016 @ 2:15pm
Make gmod one:steamhappy:

Can you make a GMOD one?
TacticalGameBoy 23 Aug, 2015 @ 9:10pm
Is there a gmod version?

@PaladinWat †, Wow... looks great! I really like the glow effects too, such as the car's headlamps and streetlamp in the background.

Very cool model, I featured it in this SFM shot. Take a look if you're interested! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=496592276

Good lord, a great sum of tripe to remember. Anyway, thank you very much.
Astute  [author] 14 Jul, 2015 @ 7:56pm
@The Gentleman Crab, It's cool. As it turns out, I only learned how to do the motion editor rotation while working on the car. Up until that point I had never needed to do such a rotation. Originally, I tweaked the car rig several times because I thought the issue was with the rig, and not with SFM.

I mulled it over a bit, and I realized that this isn't discussed in the official SFM tutorials, nor do you really encounter it in an average SFM session. As I was typing up a response, I also realized that my answer was still fairly confusing. Instead of a written reply, I've made a quick tutorial image and added it to the page, just in case anyone else runs into the issue in the future. If you have any more issues with soft time selection, I recommend checking the SFM official tutorial "05 time selection". He talks about it a bit more indepth, starting at 2:50.

I phrased that question awfully, what I meant to say was; how do you use the motion editor as though the graph editor. (Where is this "falloff"?)
The GentleCrab 14 Jul, 2015 @ 12:37pm
First, I must say, how very honoured I am to have the creator reply to my, dare I say, bratty comment. I was, in fact, using the graph editor at the time. I shall see what I can do about the whole thing. If you can though, please entertain a question of mine. How would you use the motion editor to create local rotation around the axel? I'd like to think of my self as skilled with the o'l SFM. But one can never be sure.
Astute  [author] 13 Jul, 2015 @ 3:42pm
@The Gentleman Crab, I went back and double checked the bones and rig on the vehicle, and everything appears to be in order. Then I went and tested it in SFM, and I didn't have an issue spinning the wheels over time. Then I had a thought, are you using the Graph Editor or the Motion Editor to do your rotation?

SFM's Graph Editor refuses to do local rotation around an axis. When you rotate with the graph editor selected, it rotates the wheel around the world axis(regardless of whether or not you are in local rotation mode, which is very weird). If you want to do a spinning wheel, you'll have to do it using the Motion Editor, by selecting time and using falloff the create a local rotation around the axle.
The GentleCrab 13 Jul, 2015 @ 1:25pm
When I make the wheels spin through time, the wheels don't move exactly round but instead just... move of their own accord, so to speak. (They spin like a f*cking snowball)

Quick update for this model. I've reworked the glass vmt's to make them look more like glass and work better with light. I've also updated all of the vmt's that use paint to be easier to setup for painting. It should automatically generate color entries when you override materials on paintable vmt's now. For those of you who have already overridden the paint on the car using $color, just change the name of the entry to "colortint_base" or "colortint_temp".

looks fantastic!
Astute  [author] 13 Apr, 2015 @ 1:11pm
I believe I've found a reason for the missing texture issue. Some of the shiny materials use envmapping, which looks great in TF2 and HLMV, but doesn't do much for SFM. I've commented out the envmaps. They are still there for anyone who wants to uncomment and reenable them.
Astute  [author] 13 Apr, 2015 @ 12:12pm
I'll admit I'm fairly new to publishing to SFM, but I find it strange that you would be missing textures from what appears to be an entirely automated process. I can't readily test this from my SFM, so it will take some time before I can address this issue.
Wilkins Coffee 13 Apr, 2015 @ 10:01am
Nice, but am missing some textures for the aluminium parts.

You are my hero for uploading this model! I hope you have plans to create more models like these, 'cause I can't get enough of extra props, vehicles and models!

Very nice job!

I'm having some problems with the model, I got missing textures
