@Smoklen
Those are REALLY good ideas!
Smoklen 13 Feb, 2019 @ 3:15pm
Another thing that could be added to the trait would be the ability to cross rivers at normal speed and embark (only temporarily, as previously mentioned).
Smoklen 13 Feb, 2019 @ 3:12pm
I had creating this civ in mind myself, but seeing yours, I figured I would give my idea.
Israel could start with no settlers, but a stronger military made OP by the unique trait (which would only last temporarily), as Israel conquered its cities, they did not settle them.
Another name for the trait could be "Promised Land".

I started a game: The first I see that I only get 1 or 2 Religion for killed barbarian. I always play with aggressive barbarians and in addition the mod "barbarian spawn increase". But the effect is not really noticeable and even more only for a short time. I don't need 25% more combat power against city-states (=> Mongolia) - more religion would be more useful.
And there seems to be a bug: I was not able to spread religion with the Ark of the Covenant. Neither own cities nor cities of the enemy (neither durig war nor in peace). And think about more movement in neutral or own area. The next is - I use it nearly only as citadel. So for me is the general better. Set the citadel next to a city - the stationed unit always gets damaged.
Speerit  [author] 4 Dec, 2017 @ 5:56pm
And there are plenty of Barbarians. But I really do see your point.
sw 4 Dec, 2017 @ 12:24am
Pre-Midieval Era - my problem is, that I never start a war so early and also very rarely someone declares war. Barbarians the only chance

@speerit
maybe I see it too negative - will try it. UB und UU - good ideas
(I often wished that more than more worker can work on one hex - this would be an alternative.)
Speerit  [author] 3 Dec, 2017 @ 11:54pm
Well it isn't JUST negative. Its clearly an aggressive civ, you shouldnt miss that diplomacy if you play Joshua. Plus early faith ramp? Good fun. And iconic too, biblically sound.
sw 3 Dec, 2017 @ 11:49pm
@Sir Picke of Stamford
Free worker with new city exists already - nearly (with built monumet replacement you get one - Armenian Empire). So I like this idea more.
UA - I fully agree. A disadvantage as UA - what's this??? :steamsad:

Good mod! Praise God!

Thank you so much.
SticcestBoi 4 Apr, 2017 @ 2:20pm
Pretty Cool Mod
Speerit  [author] 14 Aug, 2016 @ 5:34pm
I dont know how to do that, Royal. Sorry!
TheRoyalKrizza 12 Aug, 2016 @ 12:04am
Any idea how to easily get rif of Jerusalem city-state upon games start? Woulld be great if it was changed to another civ already!
Chris 13 Jan, 2016 @ 7:07am
Great! Love it!
May God bless you!
MrXaviDRN 20 Oct, 2015 @ 10:41am
Speerit if you want I speak Hebrew. I can record my voice and send it to you.
Speerit  [author] 30 Sep, 2015 @ 9:03am
DemonKiller, I havent figured out how to make custom dialogue work. I have it all coded correctly so it SHOULD work. But it simply doesnt... When the leader approaches, there is a blank text box...
Olympro 30 Sep, 2015 @ 1:18am
How are you planning to do Joshua's greeting dialogue? Will you record it in Hebrew?
KETER 17 Sep, 2015 @ 10:01am
cool
Speerit  [author] 30 Aug, 2015 @ 8:39pm
Hey. Tough times. Back in Israe-L.B.C, it was sorta like a genocide. More like a crusade I guess.
aviadastra 28 Aug, 2015 @ 8:36am
I find it kind of funny you use 'god is with us' as the nation moto/whatever since that was on Nazi soldiers' uniforms, that's pretty ironic
ProfessorPicke 11 May, 2015 @ 6:57am
thank you :D
Speerit  [author] 10 May, 2015 @ 12:57pm
Not only that, but that would involve modding experience I just don't have... A LOT of things are possible using LUA code, but I don't know LUA. I barely know enough XML to choke out a few passable Civ/Leader mods.

You have GREAT ideas. If only I was modder enough to make them come to life.
ProfessorPicke 10 May, 2015 @ 2:09am
I have a suggestion. What if the first few citys discovered next to isreal are on the promised land and you get bonus combat strength againsed them, faith on kill, those city states hate you, and removed gold plunder for those citys. Maybe bonus faith per turn for every city considered to be in the promised land taken. To me that sounds pretty freakin cool. Like the kind that should actually be in the game kind of cool.

Sadly I have no clue how it would be implimented... How the player would know which cities are on the promised land? A pop up maybe? And can you limit your UA to only a few other cities? (maybe the first 3 cities found are the promised land)
Speerit  [author] 9 May, 2015 @ 2:53pm
As for the architect, being born from generations of forced laborers who would avoid beatings the faster they worked would probably produce a lineage of fast workers. Just saying.
Speerit  [author] 9 May, 2015 @ 2:51pm
deathpickle,

To answer a majority of your questions, I heartily recommend reading the Book of Joshua in the bible. It will all make sense.

Summary

+25% vs. city states ( Joshua and the israelites clove a bloody path through many city states while climing the land.)
-25% relations (Gotta balance that previous, because I had more coming. Also, City states indeed despised the israelites coming to kick them out. Thats a fact, jack)
-No Gold Plunder (See Jericho/AI city state capture in the book of Joshua. God forbade any plunder, Some guy took plunder anyway, God kicked israels ass for it.)
-Faith on kill (used to add a positive to the afformentioned negative, and to replace Gold with Faith in a way.. Had to stop it at midevial era to prevent OP allegations.

So basically, All of the UA things you're questioning have a grounding basis in biblical history. Thats why.
Dagonator 9 May, 2015 @ 9:11am
hey 27th, if you need some historical onfo about the tribes, u can ask me. im know quite a lot.
ProfessorPicke 9 May, 2015 @ 1:46am
i havent tried the mod yet so bear with me here, but i have a few things that i feel don't sound right.

UA - God is with us.
I don't like the whole 25% increase combat strength vs city states. That's mongolia's thing.
Why do city relations decline 25% faster? (sounds like a bandaid nerf)
Why don't they gain gold plunder? (sounds like a bandaid nerf)
Why do they stop gaining faith from kills after the medieval era? Shouldnt it stay all the time, just as a flat value so it's useful early game but doesnt affect much late game. Or you could reduce it's power based on the era you are in. (similar to the increased faith costs for non great person purchases)
Also, small thing. I feel like "Chosen people" would be a better name than "God is with us".
ProfessorPicke 9 May, 2015 @ 1:46am
UU - Hebrew Architect
Why do isrealites build workers faster? i mean it's a cool mechanic sure, but i don't recall hebrew people being amazing builders. Instead wouldn't it make more sense to start off with a hebrew worker, as they were slaves for a long time? Or maybe when you settle a city you get a free worker with it. They would definately have to be much slower at building things for balance reasons, but i feel it would at least make sense.

UU - Arch of the Covenant
I LOVE THIS. It sounds amazing. Only thing i don't quite feel 100% about is the prophet spreading. BUUT other than that it sounds really, super cool.

and woah, random thought. what it settlers gain +1 vision, and give faith per turn because they're looking for the promised land. (stops past the ancient era to prevent abuse)

Overall i do like the idea of the civ. I just feel theres a few things that don't quite fit or are unnecessary.
Speerit  [author] 8 May, 2015 @ 3:36pm
27th, send me a friend invite and we can stay connected on this. You are the second persopn I'd be helping.

Sulu, Im afraid I doont have enough info to diagnose that problem. It sounds quite local. I have the issue occasionally, where it wont appear on my mods list... It comes and goes. :(
27thcalculator 8 May, 2015 @ 3:14pm
Yo, I wanted to make a mod for each tribe of Israel cuz that'd be super cool, but I'm pretty sucky at modding, so since you seem to have an interest in ancient Israel and stuff, would you mind helping me? We'd have to start after my school year ends, in like two weeks, if that's cool.
sulumike 8 May, 2015 @ 3:50am
how can i play this? i downloaded it and it is in my mods folder. i even activated it in the game, but i cant find it when i want to start playing.
Speerit  [author] 6 May, 2015 @ 7:21pm
Thanks buddy!

"Midian" (Led by Balaam) will be out late tonight, or tomorrow night.
Speerit  [author] 4 May, 2015 @ 8:50am
Currently, Ian, I am wrapping up the Midianites, led by Balaam. Just have to do the art files and write the text.

Next i'm going to do either Moab or the phillistines.
Speerit  [author] 3 May, 2015 @ 12:41pm
Ryan- Christ does match. Green n gold.

Ian- I am working on the civilization of Midian.

Overlord- I havent the slightest idea how to do that. Im no animator. Maybe i'll meet someone who I can partner with to do it.
spazzrights 3 May, 2015 @ 10:44am
Will you add different unit textures for the Ark of the Covenant, to perhaps people holding the ark, and for the Hebrew architecht?
RJ 3 May, 2015 @ 8:46am
You might want to recolour both your civs to match the icons
Speerit  [author] 3 May, 2015 @ 7:24am
I like those ideas! Several of them are actually in my journal for ideas, so great minds think alike!

Canaan i hesitate, because that is essentially phonecia (I.E, Carthage. Dido.)
Which is a shame as they are like, one of the most well supported historically.
Seraphus 3 May, 2015 @ 2:01am
It's a nice mod indeed :D
Speerit  [author] 27 Apr, 2015 @ 11:43pm
Thanks man. I worked FOREVER on it, even had to read a bunch of the book of Joshua.
Robo-Pig 27 Apr, 2015 @ 7:51pm
Very nice. I like the UA
