This mod seems to stop working when I use interface scaling. I'm on a 1440p monitor and trying figure out the right combination of mods to actually make the whole game legible.

Great Mod - makes CKII more readable on higher resolution
gastfyr 3 Sep, 2019 @ 6:10pm
Really happy to find it works with total conversion mods as well (at least with Warcraft, but I'm gonna assume with them all until proven otherwise). :steamhappy:
gastfyr 7 Aug, 2019 @ 2:51pm
Probably the most useful mod I have EVER installed :steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

Thank you

Still unreadable. How do you design font that only a little bit better than original?
Phoenix 15 Nov, 2018 @ 3:08am
Compatible with v3.0?
Daz58 12 Apr, 2018 @ 10:29pm
I've found the only way I can read some of it is to use the widows magnifier.
Kryo  [author] 21 Jun, 2016 @ 8:06am
Granted, it's probably a bit hard to spot.
Rushy89 21 Jun, 2016 @ 7:44am
Very sorry , I struggled to read the button. Hence why I'm downloading a new font haha.:calm_creep:

Can we get a manual Download link please? :missing:

@Atia.Of.Julii I have the same setup and have played this game four years now. There is no solution other than lowering the resoltuion to 720p, aka 1366x768. Yes it will be more pixelated, but that's just how the game is made. It's the developer's fault for not scaling the UI to the resolution. The "CKII UI Font mod", which is on the forum, combined with "A better readable font" is the best option if lowering the resolution is unacceptable to you. Save your eyes the pain and go to 720p is my suggestion, and what I finally gave in to. Again, the mod that will increase text size in game best is the "CKII UI Font Mod" which is on the Paradox forums. It increases text size to 18, and you can incread tooltip size to 22 which is certainly legible. There is no way to mod the UI larger, so increading the text any larger will cut parts out. I hope I've helped you with a problem I've faced for years.
Kryo  [author] 13 Mar, 2016 @ 6:24pm
Thanks, you don't need the other one to make it work.
jpinard 13 Mar, 2016 @ 12:48pm
I'm confused. So do I need to subscribe to both this and map font to get it to work? Or just one of them? Thanks for all your wokr Kyro. it's awesome!
Atia.Of.Julii 20 Feb, 2016 @ 3:45pm
Thank you. I have subscribed (and therefore activated, it seems) all "font" and "text" mods in the hopes of actually having larger font/text...I open the game and the font/text is tiny (I.e. where you read about the era or the person who you will start out playing). I play on a large TV from a distance ...I will need to return what seems to be a great game unless I can find a solution. Silly a game that is all about the text does not have an option to increase the text size...Sunless Sea suffers from the same fatal flaw.

Where is the font mod? Split into two and then only one link is present? Thank you
FuncK 4 Oct, 2015 @ 7:55pm
Thank you so much for putting forth the effort and offering this mod. I needed this for my old ass eyes. Makes playing as a newbie that much less stressful.

Cheers

I made a similar mod for EUIV where I was able to define a new font face for the tooltips. When I tried the exact same thing for this mod, it didn't work. Instead I was forced to overwrite another font and define it for the tooltips - with the results you guys describe below. I don't think the results are ugly, sure I don't really like the culture details in the province window either, but I'm afraid there's nothing I can do about it.
Red Dragon 21 Sep, 2015 @ 10:45am
This mod is awesome, but as the guy below me said: The province view details concerning culture, religion etc. as well as the mercenary costs in the military tab use the same font - so it makes those two things look pretty ugly. I wish there was a way to isolate these two fonts from the tooltip font itself - which looks and reads amazing even on FullHD screens :)
Just4Kicks 21 Sep, 2015 @ 2:28am
why does this mod affect the province view? With this installed the culture and religion on a province is too big, so anything longer than the words Levantine or Orthodox get cut off
Ciccillo Rre 20 Sep, 2015 @ 4:13am
Thank you so much!
Kryo  [author] 20 Sep, 2015 @ 3:47am
Updated. Click here to get back the map font.
Ciccillo Rre 17 Sep, 2015 @ 2:44pm
Thanks for committing to splitting the mod in two, as I play on a laptop and the UI part of the mod is counterproductive for me.

The font is nice but I would like to see one similar to the "dark" one you made for EU4! :)
Kryo  [author] 9 Sep, 2015 @ 1:47pm
Open the zip file and delete everything except the two Mapfont files. I'll update the mod soon, though, splitting it in two.
Sea Catsnake 9 Sep, 2015 @ 2:06am
Is there any way to retain the map font but disable the UI font changes?
Jormundgand 19 Jul, 2015 @ 1:23am
The "D" in Vedrafjordr in ireland looks a bit too small; could you make it larger?
Kryo  [author] 13 Jul, 2015 @ 6:45am
Oh you're on linux, that explains it. Glad it works for you now.
Jormundgand 13 Jul, 2015 @ 4:27am
I just fired it up to check the visuals -- looks fine now. Dunno what happened. Must have been some linux thing.
Kryo  [author] 11 Jul, 2015 @ 1:26pm
Ok, fixed now.
Kryo  [author] 11 Jul, 2015 @ 2:07am
What does it look like for you? I'd really like to see. You're right that the æ is too small. It's bugging me too. Maybe I can fix that..
Jormundgand 10 Jul, 2015 @ 4:24pm
Not on my computer. Also, the æ in sjælland looks really bad.
Kryo  [author] 10 Jul, 2015 @ 12:57pm
Look at these screenshots: Vanilla Font [i.imgur.com] vs Modded Font [i.imgur.com]

As you can see, the characters you pointed out are the same in vanilla and my mod.
Jormundgand 10 Jul, 2015 @ 10:30am
Several glyphs are missing from the font, meaning a some s candinavian names simply look aweful - Sviðjod and Sjælland are two such names.
Kryo  [author] 10 Jul, 2015 @ 5:34am
I suppose you mean the tooltip font.. It should be possible to make it even larger, yes. I'm not sure if I'm gonna try to do it though. The thing is that the font is also used for some other things like the ledger headers and the culture description in the province menu. The culture is already being shown as "Ital..." or "germ.." So making the font even bigger would probably not be a good idea.
Nate of Scooba 25 Jun, 2015 @ 11:58am
Is there a way to try this with much larger fonts? I have trouble reading anything at 1920x1080 in ck2, mods or not.
Kryo  [author] 31 May, 2015 @ 2:43am
That's what I am planning. There will be seperate mods for the map fonts and the tooltips. Until then you'll have to manually delete the tooltip files, as I described below.
Smashy-Tea 30 May, 2015 @ 6:48pm
I like it on the map, but I don't like it when I hover over my character portrait or anything similar. Could you possible make another version that only changes the map?
Kryo  [author] 30 May, 2015 @ 2:05pm
Open the zip which is located in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/mods and delete the following files if you only want the map font:

gfx/fonts/Arial12_bold.fnt
gfx/fonts/Arial12_bold.tga
interface/tooltip.gui
micketymike 27 May, 2015 @ 6:36pm
love the map font, but is there anyway to turn off the tooltip font?
Kryo  [author] 25 May, 2015 @ 5:23am
Manual Download link added.

@dolphin: That's the workshop messing with my file and folder names. In my local ARFoM.mod file, instead of "archive="mod/ARFoM.zip" it says "path = "mod/A Revolutionary Font Mod" referring to a folder. Steam Workshop makes a zip file out of that folder and apparently names it arfom.zip. I'm sorry for you linux users, but you'll just have to rename things like the talking dolphin described or download the mod manually.
A talking dolphin? 24 May, 2015 @ 3:57pm
FYI, it doesn't work on Linux because filenames are case-sensitive. The .mod points to "archive="mod/ARFoM.zip"" but the filename is "mod/arfom.zip". Once that is fixed, it seems to work fine, and looks great.
Frunze 24 May, 2015 @ 2:57pm
Can you add a direct download for this?
Kryo  [author] 6 May, 2015 @ 4:32pm
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't think what you proposed is possible. You can only have the one mapfont file. Correct me if I'm wrong, world.
SyntaxError752 5 May, 2015 @ 3:41pm
I love this mod!
I'm curious, is it possible to change the font based on the culture on the realm? I would love to have a gothic font for germany, without changing the others.

Thanks for this aesthetically pleasing mod!
Snorri (vtz) 5 May, 2015 @ 1:42pm
Sad, because it's really ugly... And it's impossible to fix that :/
Kryo  [author] 5 May, 2015 @ 1:41pm
That's because I had to replace the Font "Arial12 bold" with my tooltip font in order to make it work. The game would crash when I just added it as a new one. Look at it as a bonus feature :)
Snorri (vtz) 5 May, 2015 @ 10:25am
Well, it's really cool. However, it makes the other writings too big (click on the province and then check the culture) Hope you can fix it ;)
Kryo  [author] 5 May, 2015 @ 10:12am
Thanks! The white parts are only visible on a dark background.
