problem is, it doesn't really discourage armies from using beaches to go into the sea, it just gets armies stuck in one location trying to either disembark or land and they just stand there for the whole campaign which technically eliminates that nation for the course of the campaign. If anyone else is having a different experience I would like to hear it.
Riekopo 9 Jan, 2023 @ 2:48pm
One final update would be greatly appreciated.
Monkey SK 5 Nov, 2022 @ 5:42pm
Love this mod but on my latest campaign, my game started crashing. any chance of an update?
Jaeger 3 Sep, 2022 @ 3:05am

Riekopo 7 Nov, 2021 @ 9:41pm
Pls update.

@Augustus: CONFIRMED: It WORKS FINE

sigh- I'm embarrassed; I'm "re new" to this and forgot/ didn't know the launcher listing things as outdated part... ( looks like others didn't either ) should have just tried it first.
ps: I *never* would have thought to look there ( i've looked )- clever how you did it. +1
And i suspect why it works with almost everything- no one seems to have looked there ;)
And i see the BEL change and why-
anyway, my apologies, my thanks, and - didn't realize you also did Europa Perdita.
Good show, man.
Even if you no longer mod atw, i'll link to this "recommended" with my mini-mods - not that many see them- no need to redo it.
(ps- the Saxons won't like it, but they almost never go to Britain anyway- :steammocking: )
Thanks again for the several lessons, the quick reply, and your mods <o

Sure, permission granted. I don't plan to work on this further. Anyway, it probably still works even without an update; Steam just marks it as out of date since it hasn't been changed since before the last game update.
Badger BrownCoat 27 Jun, 2020 @ 3:11am
Ausgustus-
i was directed to your mod b/c this was driving me nuts:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/325610/discussions/0/2568689796947193312/

i'd forgotten/overlooked how it worked in ETW, ah... out of habit i tend to use fleets.
anyway, as I see folks saying "update" - if you're not modding- permission to attempt to do so myself?
If I see ONE MORE Hun stack sail up the Danube, I'm going to lose it
Lord Plunkett 21 Jul, 2019 @ 3:24pm
update
DmN 5 Jun, 2019 @ 5:42am
update plz
Dunadd 3 Oct, 2018 @ 9:55pm
Even better!
Augustusng  [author] 3 Oct, 2018 @ 8:15pm
Yes, it is.
Dunadd 3 Oct, 2018 @ 4:25pm
Thank you so much for making this! Is it compatible with Radious mod for Attila? (Not complaining if it's not, just wondering)
Serviam 3 Mar, 2018 @ 7:28am
Agh. I figured as much. Still; this mod is the best we can do for realism' sake.
Augustusng  [author] 2 Mar, 2018 @ 5:37pm
Indeed, that's unfortunately not moddable. Modders would have added a feature like that long ago if we could.
Emperor Cheesius Secundus 2 Mar, 2018 @ 3:57pm
he has a point there, but i don't think the dev can do that. It was something that you could do in empire but it seems they removed it for the ability to just "embark" (on air i guess) anywhere.
Serviam 2 Mar, 2018 @ 3:42pm
I love this mod! One thing though; Transportation should not only be through ports but also through FLEETS. As in, a proper military fleet that is (already) on the sea and hugging the coast to pick your army up. Your army on the land should be able to click on that fleet and simply join it.
Horde factions can't build fleets so this shouldn't be break the logic that they should not be on the high seas.
Emperor Cheesius Secundus 20 Jan, 2018 @ 7:45pm
Ok so i decided to turn this off but i just want to explain. I prefer the raiding style of the danes so i would like to do that, but properly. Another reason was that armies that navely landed just got stuck there. For example, the rugians landed BOTH their armies in swedan/norway and basically never left. So, yeah. Not saying this is a bad mod, but it doesn't fit my play-style. But if you play the romans a-lot, i imagine this mod is a necessity XD.
Augustusng  [author] 20 Jan, 2018 @ 5:15pm
Not unless you want to do more of the same style of naval raiding as you did with the Danes. From Ireland, you've got a ferry crossing point into Scotland and you can invade Europe from there.
Emperor Cheesius Secundus 20 Jan, 2018 @ 8:48am
Ok so playing as (per say) the hibernians (forgot their name), i wouldn't really see an issue often?
Augustusng  [author] 20 Jan, 2018 @ 7:08am
The mod mainly exists to keep hordes out of the Mediterranean. Without it, they tend to just sail around where they like. The small barbarian factions usually stay on land.
Emperor Cheesius Secundus 19 Jan, 2018 @ 9:41pm
Well, since i haven't played Atilla withought this, is navel armies a problem often for smaller, barbarian factions? I only play as those since they tend to fit what i like (small start with easy guys around me to let me build how i want to).
Augustusng  [author] 19 Jan, 2018 @ 9:29pm
Sorry, can't fix that. It can work one way or the other. Just how the game is coded. There's actually very little we can mod in this regard.
Emperor Cheesius Secundus 19 Jan, 2018 @ 9:24pm
sooooooo, navel raiding is fucked? gotcha.
Augustusng  [author] 19 Jan, 2018 @ 9:22pm
Yep, you have to take a port to go back to sea. That's the downside of this mod. What you can do is just disable the mod, move to sea, and enable it again afterwards.
Emperor Cheesius Secundus 19 Jan, 2018 @ 7:11pm
Ok, important question if you are still responding. Can armies still go back to sea? My armies actually CAN'T leave from a beach. I noticed this when my army (danes) was raiding the picts. They got traped in britain and just plain couldn't go anywhere withought taking a port, which i had wanted to avoid on purpose.
Serviam 10 Dec, 2017 @ 6:55am
Thank you for this. The vanilla feature that allowed Asiatic hordes to whip up a fleet out of nowhere to sail the Mediterranean was so immersion breaking. It would make sense if they used boats captured in a port or something, but from random BEACHES in the middle of nowhere? No, I am not buying that.
chrsmercedes 3 Aug, 2017 @ 3:51am
But i love this mod btw, great job!!!
chrsmercedes 3 Aug, 2017 @ 3:50am
The same thing happens to me in certain places, (Get stuck on beaches)
Augustusng  [author] 7 May, 2017 @ 6:37pm
Hm, I haven't noticed that. Maybe I'll check and see if that can happen, but to be honest, there's not much I can do about it. Just be careful where you click to move your armies. Or disable this mod, load your game, move your army, save again, and re-enable the mod.
SGZ***71 22 Oct, 2016 @ 4:00am
Great. Thx. :steamhappy:
Augustusng  [author] 22 Oct, 2016 @ 2:50am
Sure, you can use this mod as part of another one, of course.
SGZ***71 21 Oct, 2016 @ 8:00pm
Hi Austususng . Thanks for your excellent mod. I'm wondering if you'd mind if I use some of your excellent work in a mod I'm doing ? I will be sure too credit you.
Black Soull 13 May, 2016 @ 9:47am
Thx man.
Augustusng  [author] 13 May, 2016 @ 5:46am
If you mean startpos, then no. This mod makes no startpos changes, and is compatible with almost any other mod. It just increases the movement points required to go to sea anywhere but in a port, to the point where it becomes impossible.
Black Soull 13 May, 2016 @ 4:11am
That mod change STRATPOINTS?
𒄑𒉈𒂵𒈩 11 Apr, 2016 @ 6:01am
It seems sometimes, when the AI lacks direct access to a port, they really end up getting stuck. ie Celt allies of mine couldn't use Caudulum to depart, Danes tried attacking the Angles from sea, couldn't land, etc... that seems to be a result of the mod, though there's a chance I'm wrong.
Augustusng  [author] 11 Apr, 2016 @ 5:41am
You can land at beaches. This mod doesn't change that. You just have to depart from ports. For me, the importance of this mod is really that it stops hordes from going to sea. It's the best way I've found to do that, but I wouldn't be opposed to a different solution, if one presents itself.
𒄑𒉈𒂵𒈩 11 Apr, 2016 @ 5:14am
So is it at all possible to land or depart away from ports? If not, is it possible to make it ~more~realistic~ by encouraging departures from ports, but landings at the vanilla beaches?
Ragnar 16 Mar, 2016 @ 7:04pm
Ok Augustus, thanks man for your hard work and sharing it with us
Augustusng  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 4:28am
As it says in the description, "It now works with Age of Charlemagne." Yes. :P
Ragnar 15 Mar, 2016 @ 7:41pm
Is this mod AoC compatible?
Augustusng  [author] 13 Mar, 2016 @ 1:44pm
You mean they just used up all their movement points? Can they move again the next turn? Also, can you try doing the same thing (sacking then returning to sea) with this mod disabled?
Rangaha Timamangoyum Tirumgay 13 Mar, 2016 @ 1:18pm
On Charlemagne Campagin after sacking a City and returning to my boats the entire army gets stuck for some reason and can't move.
Weilz4Dealz 25 Feb, 2016 @ 8:45pm
neat! thank you
Augustusng  [author] 25 Feb, 2016 @ 3:52pm
Well I wasn't at my computer all day. :P I'll update this quickly, but it'll take longer for most of my other mods.
Weilz4Dealz 25 Feb, 2016 @ 12:04pm
there was an update
Korpen 24 Oct, 2015 @ 12:17pm
Yeah, Jutes were going around my fully conquered britan over and over. Another faction was stuck in a corner for like 50 turns.
Augustusng  [author] 24 Oct, 2015 @ 12:12pm
Yeah, I think they do happen in vanilla as well. The CAI just does some dumb things at sea, like leaving a fleet or transported army to take high seas attrition for several turns.
Korpen 24 Oct, 2015 @ 12:02pm
So the things I've noticed with your mod, would happen in vanilla as well?
