@Em: There is a way to do that, but not with this mod. There is a mod called something like Custom Starting Stats, which I think lets the host set stats for each character (with support for modded characters) or something like that. That said, if you simply search Google for Don't Starve Together console commands, you'll find commands to do just about anything. You should be able to easily change max health and such for each player just using console commands. All my mods affect everyone on the server equally. You can also spawn some items for them so they'll have an easier time.

Hello - I'm new to DST mods. When you say that the server host must have the mod enabled, and that if the mod is used by the host then all characters are affected, does this mean that there's no way to apply settings per-character? If I have a crew of players who mostly enjoy vanilla but certain players want an easier time, is there a way to do that?

@ultroman the tacoman thank you so much for clean and long explanation, it helps a lot. I appreciate <3 I'll check your other mods for sure. Thanks again really ^^

@snuw: Thanks for the nice words :D I made the settings gain/loss percentages, and set them to the game's defaults. For Hunger, it constantly goes down, so its default setting is 100% loss. If you want to lose Hunger twice as fast, you set it to 200% loss. If you want it to go down at half speed, you set it to 50% loss. If you want to constantly GAIN Hunger (no more need for food), you change it to one of the "Gain" settings or set it to 0 to keep it steady. The settings in several of my other mods work the same way. You should definitely check out all my other mods. They also give you neat settings to tweak the difficulty up or down for specific things in the game.

Hello there. We looking for a mode like this and I think this is the one. Well done and thank you for making this. Maybe i'm a bit stupid but, we just want a bit easy mode for hunger. I mean, we don't wanna ruin the game exp, just wanna focus other things more than hunger. So what should i set the settings. If I set %60loss, is it mean %40 less hunger rate right? just a bit confused sorry :D

Works perfctly, my bad! Thank you for it so much.
Ultroman the Tacoman  [author] 1 Apr, 2020 @ 8:55am
Works fine for me. Both losing and gaining. You must have another mod that also changes it. Many character mods are made by newcomers who don't know that they can't just change the global variables when they want to change their character, because then it changes for all players and overwrites changes made by mods like this one, which is specifically made to change only this variable for everyone on the server.

Please check - seems it doesn't work anymore on latest version.

Yep. It just always requires that you leave the world, make changes, and enter the world again.

So if you are running a LAN server, you must close the server, make changes, and start it again.

For dedicated servers, you can change the settings real-time, but the changes will only take effect for players who join after the change was made. So you have to force-rejoin all players, if you need the changes to take effect immediately.

So you can change these settings at any time and pick your world back up?
Daya.Mar.Sana 8 Nov, 2016 @ 1:56pm
either way thanks for atleast taking time to consider it, also I do happen to like this mod, so good work.
Ultroman the Tacoman  [author] 8 Nov, 2016 @ 1:38pm
Actually, I think it serves as a nice barrier, keeping the riff raff from asking stupid questions and spamming me with Bob ;)
Thanks for the advice. If I ever get around to actually doing an update to these mods, I'll have it on my TO-DO list. I'm quite busy with my own game, though, so I'll see when I have the time.
Daya.Mar.Sana 8 Nov, 2016 @ 8:46am
ok cant edit the comments for clarity so.. deleted that and I'll try this again
so the overview window were the other mods are also listed, the mod description is a little on the confusing side. However the settings menu does a better job as it simply says "loss" or "Gain" with the percent of course.

So I guess my thought should be updated to perhaps clean up the first overview window (Am not sure what thats actually called, so sorry).

Perhaps a better overview rather then some slightly cryptic referances to numbers and increments but thats probably just me wanting to see it a little more understandable for some people who .. uhm and sorry if I offend anyone.. as clever as some of us..
Ultroman the Tacoman  [author] 8 Nov, 2016 @ 4:21am
What is confusing, exactly? Do you mean the in-game information, or the Steam information? The settings all indicate whether they're gain or loss. 100% loss, means you lose hunger at 100% of the normal rate. This is all explained in the description. It even explains what the minimum and maximum settings will result in. How would you word it?

The confusing thing is, that the Klei chose to call their stat Hunger, and then make it a GOOD thing for it to go UP, and BAD for it to go DOWN. They should have called the stat something else, or switched the way the indicator worked, so the more hunger you have, the closer you are to starving, instead of the opposite. Probably another instance of some tester getting confused about something everybody else understands inherently. We have a lot of those ruining games lately.
Daya.Mar.Sana 6 Nov, 2016 @ 7:42am
Because of how its worded, this is .. slightly confusing to understand entirely what it means at first glance. Particularily in settings. I might suggest atleast adding an example of what the min/max settings would actually mean in terms of change so people can judge a bit easier on what they want their settings to be.

@gurkoz: I am truly humbled by your words. Thank you SO much!
Thank you also for all the nice comments on my other mods. I'll not answer all of them, so they will remain the first comment people see :D I really do my best, and I'm so happy to see someone putting value on my time. Remember, if any of my mods give you any grief, write me a comment.

Cheers!

Man you are not getting enough praise for your mods! Yours are by far the best ones. (I acctually use them all) Everything is working and seems real professional. Keep up the great work!

Klei has fixed the bug concerning mod settings! :D
Settings should now be applied correctly when starting a server, instead of reverting to default settings.

As always, please do report any bugs!

Sincerely, Ultroman

The last update to DST broke all mods with settings in them. No matter what you set your options to, they are always reset to defaults when starting a server. Dedicated servers have another set of problems. Klei is working on it. There's nothing I can do :(

Hello, friends!

'Temperature Tuner' and 'Resurrection Tuner' (formerly 'Revival Penalties And U') have had major overhauls! 'Temperature Tuner' now has 26 settings!! 'Resurrection Tuner' now has settings for starting health, sanity and hunger after being resurrected.

Check them out!
Ultroman the Tacoman  [author] 23 Jan, 2016 @ 5:56am
This mod simply sets a single tuning variable. There is no way it can fail in the way you describe, and any incompatibility with another mod would simply override the setting of that variable. It cannot fail.

When running a dedicated server with mods which have settings, you must create a settings-file for your server to read settings from. Try searching for Don't Starve Together dedicated server mod settings. You should be able to get something working quickly.
Helly 23 Jan, 2016 @ 4:19am
When I tried the mod out I simply loaded it. I didn't pass any specified settings to it (or any mod). I have since dropped this mod (and various others). It's entirely possible it was a conflict with another mod though I really have no idea.
Ultroman the Tacoman  [author] 21 Jan, 2016 @ 11:22am
I can't replicate what you're reporting, Smelly Helly Bomb-belly. There's just no way that that error makes sense. Could you post you modsettings?
Ultroman the Tacoman  [author] 15 Jan, 2016 @ 12:44pm
Hmm, that error doesn't really make any sense. It's saying that on the first line, I'm trying to do calculations with a string. That doesn't make sense at all...there are no calculations on the first line. An the mod works just fine on a regular server.

Could you double-check that your modsettings-file is setting the value correctly? It should be setting the value to an integer, not a string.
